Should Nurse be nerfed?

And what about survivors who think Nurse is fair? 🧐

There would be very little reason to play her if she could not blink through objects anymore. Doesn’t matter if she has a faster base movement speed. What you propose is to kill her viability and unique traits. Leave our Nurse alone!

Movement speed is something Nurse never needed.

110% speed is useless in comparison to blinking to a place.

Or… she is good design and doesn’t need changes except to a few problematic add-ons.

Against good survivors, you 100% need to play Nurse. I don’t care about bad survivors who don’t learn the game. If we are using them as our starting point, there is no sense in having a conversation. Tier lists don’t matter if one side doesn’t know the game.

    "Leave our Nurse alone!"

    Exactly.

Instead of lashing out at the nurse, learn to become better at playing against her.

She is the killer that promotes the most skill on both sides when all players are decent or better. A standard M1 115% killer will both auto-win and auto-lose some chases just off sheer object RNG. For instance, if it is a dead zone, the survivor has nothing they can do. The killer will just walk up and the chase is an automatically over, due to the tile RNG leading to a dead zone in that location. On the other hand, if the killer ends up at a strong tile setup (eg, long wall jungle gym), no matter which way they go, the tile allows for the survivor to make the safe choice, making the tile effectively near-unmindgameable and heavily into the survivor's favor. This is further exacerbated when strong tiles are connected. In a situation like this, the killer will auto-lose the chase, because the only way to land a hit will be to spend an insane amount of time to brute force through the loops. Again, tile RNG predetermines the result.

In comparison, by virtue of the genius design that lets her ignore walls, she turns all chases into exclusively skill versus skill. What would be a dead zone for an M1 115% is not for the Nurse, as she cannot walk up to you, and the only way for her to land a hit is by beating you at a mindgame. On the flip side, she also does not auto-lose at what would be strong tile setups against an M1 115%, because if she wins the mindgame, she will go through and land the hit onto you. What tile it is really does not matter, other than line of sight or lack thereof. The only factor that matters is which player is more skilled at mindgaming the other. Even besides Nurse, mindgaming is the most important and skillful aspect of chase, as that is directly player skill versus skill at baiting and reading which way people will go.

This is precisely why Nurse is the best designed by a landslide. Even Blight still has to obey physical limits, even though he can 50/50 almost any tile the way Nurse does. Balance-wise, Nurse performs balanced as well. When players of even skill go against each other, she averages out to 2K both in and out of tournament setting. MMR puts better players against worse players, but that is a matchmaking issue, not a balance issue. If one side is a lot better than the other, it is a given they will probably win.

If you're facing a strong nurse, its cuz they have dumped a solid portion of hours into playing against survivor. As (x)k hr survivors, how much of that time has been facing nurse? No wonder u have trouble, its just a lack of experience vsing her.

When I picked her up, I can't even recall the amount of 4 man escapes and other helpless matches I played. I'd spend whole games trying to catch a survivor at a few tiles... and undoubtedly, every nurse player has gone through the same. So when matchmaking screws u over vs a player with way more hours on nurse and u get steamrolled, don't jump onto the forums immediately to beg for nerfs... stick it out, and you'll be one of the few to find a new exhilarating and unique playstyle in dbd that breaks the monotony of largely every other killer. Personally I find matches playing as her or vsing her extremely fun, even if I get utterly ######### on by the other side

My issue with nurse is that she’ll get progressively more busted as the game becomes more balanced. Best to change her now instead of having a huge issue later down the line

Tbf that’s map design which bhvr has always struggled with (and something nurse mostly ignores anyway). As for other things like perk and killer balance it has gotten better so in time nurse will become even more busted. Even broken things like COH aren’t really an issue for her compared to other killers which goes to show how strong she really is

Yeah I can agree with that. Right now all I want is for range, triple blink and recharge to be nerfed. Giving nurse any direct number buff add ons is a terrible idea imo since that’s all anyone will use on her. We should buff the gameplay changing ones and make them viable as different playstyles for her instead.

But in the rare case the game becomes more balanced I feel a rework is the only option to make her balanced

Yes. Survivor queue times are astronomical at peak times as it is. There was even a point where there were over 4000 survivors and only 33 killers in queue (on steam alone). Let's nerf another killer. Solid plan.

If they nerf Nurse before they nerf exhaustion into the ground, it'll only get worse for survivor queue times.

Nurse can only somewhat traverse stupidly huge maps if she’s using a range addon. Nurse’s sustained map traversal speed is garbage if she doesn’t have a range addon.
