Another month, another 3k players lost
We are back to March 2020 numbers. A year before the RE update.
So not only did the RE players leave, but lots of others too.
Maybe if BHvR actually did something about the grind (which they created), tunneling meta (which they created), half of killers being awful (which they created), toxicity (which they created), MMR (which they created), meta being the same for five years (which they created), lack of variety (which they created), and hacking they could stop the bleed.
They issued an emergency MMR rework to stop the bleed, looks like it's done nothing.
Instead they just watch the slow decline.

Sadako not being dumpster tier would have helped
71 -
New MMR is already starting to balance out, so we are back where we started.
9 -
Just FYI they also did a massive ban wave last week. Not sure how many people it impacted but if only a few percent of people playing were cheating and got banned that would be a few percent of the concurrent players on average drop right there.
27 -
You're correct.
Sadako is only good in low MMR and barely passable in mid MMR.
They knew the meta was atrocious to hit and run killers. It's been like this for years.
So they release a hit and run killer without making meta changes.
Incredible lack of awareness.

Yeah, I have barely played for months. Killer isn't fun anymore. Neither is survivor tbh. Dead Hards everywhere, boons going up everywhere, terrible maps being release (RPD, Eyrie), MMR sucks, and Sadako is one the worst killers who I can't even try to have fun with because she's so weak.
That's just top of the list, there's so many more things that keep me from playing as much as I used to.
19 -
They had to toss survivors another chew toy to play with for a week, because they've been unhappy with recent anti-loop killer releases.
17 -
People acting like DbD was ever alive when it LOST PLAYERS back in September 2016.
DEAD GAME

People want to credit BHVR for the things they are doing right is all good and well but you gotta understand something about consumers: they remember negative experiences FAR more vividly and for far longer than they do good experiences, it's just a nature. So yes they are doing good things recently but at the end of the day they should of listened to people before their numbers were hurting, because now people are upset.
They balance everything around the solo survivor not getting ######### stomped constantly, but they do this at the expense of the average killer getting ######### stomped almost constantly, people quit killer and survivor ques go up, the killers who remain adapt and play in an extremely unfun way so now survivors quit; long ques and boring matches are a result of BHVR not fixing the killer experience. You can't constantly bash one side and ignore their complains then expect a few buffs to 2 dead killers will make them come back.

Another month or should I say day and another dbd is dying thread.
Since the forum started probably.
10 -
It’s SWF fault. No one likes them. Plus their feet stink. #RemoveSWF
20 -
I can credit BHvR for the following.
- Improving graphical fidelity of the maps and game in general.
- Shrine of Secrets
- Removal of infinite loops (should have NEVER been in the game to begin with, this is something you can literally MATH AWAY)
- Cool skins and good art team
- Archives
That's it. The balance changes are to be expected with a live service game. Unfortunately, they are terrible at balancing.
There are significant areas for improvement in QoL.
- Match History
- Saved Loadouts
- Custom Games w/ bots
- Search function for perks/addons/items
- Random killer/survivor/perks button
- Faster blood web interaction
- Blood web minimum pathing (select a perk I want, instantly buy minimum number of nodes to that perk, this is a basic algorithm that any software engineer should be able to implement)
- In Game archive progression notifications
- change settings while in queue
- browse store while in queue
- view challenges while in queue
- infinite rituals with different challenges (i should be able to select a ritual I want to complete for every ritual like ambush the obsession with pig multiple times a day, not just once)
- match details (health states healed, gen progress repaired, number of saves, health states lost, etc...)
- view survivors starting items (NOT ADDONS) in menu screen, not just offerings
- survivors portraits on end game screen
They don't do any of these things. There's 300+ people working on this game. They just don't care.
26 -
Its because they cant update the game for ######### and dont know how to balance, if only they dedicated an entire chapter for just Qol and balance changes. But no, gotta keep adding new perks, new bugs, new ways to piss off both sides of the game.
7 -
They could do QoL updates in parallel with additional content. They refuse to do so for some reason.
6 -
To be fair, at least some of those were cheaters who have been banned, which IS good.
That said, DBD needs this Anniversary to be B I G.
For all of our sakes, I hope they pull it off.
22 -
Game getting boring tbh. Sure it's able to have its moments but like... nothing's new.
Playing the game feels more stressful than relaxing. No matter which side I play, I get reasons why I should just get off and do something better with my life.
7 -
This is actually a pretty insightful point. And since BHVR will not release those numbers (nor should they), we have no way of knowing how many were in that number.
Good call.
1 -
This.
And it will have nothing to do with the Killer.
We need a huge QoL update to the game that addresses all the unfun aspects. We need console optimization, better anti-cheat, map balancing, add on passes, new features, etc.
I am worried we are going to get Forgettable Killer #12, new Survivor I will play just long enough to get their Adepts, and a handful of perks that will not disrupt anything in the current meta.
Will we get any of that? Probably not.
But I have cake to look forward to.

This game doesn't deserve this playerbase anymore tbh. SBMM is killing this game!
9 -
SBMM has nothing to do with that, the game is 6 years old, it can't grow forever, also steam numbers alone means nothing
1 -
SBMM made a lot of people quit DBD. A lot of my friends quit because of SBMM and because of the cheater pandemic. Like it or not, SBMM is one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people quit DBD.
13 -
BHVR only releases numbers when it benefits them.
If the decline in player base is majorly due to cheaters then cheating is rampant in this game. Either way, the outlook is terrible.
4 -
These threads are annoying
8 -
Cheating is rampant in dbd, thats the main reason I dont play killer
1 -
Dont u feel the vibes?
Seriously, I don't know what threads like this are supposed to be for. I mean player numbers have fluctuated since DBD existed. This is also not DBD specific. So what?
5 -
It's okay guys, the console numbers are surely going up! Surely!
11 -
I have seen less of it TBH in past week. More self unhooks than usual though without the perks or offerings.
This can't be proven and might just be coincidence.
0 -
Very nice. most use alt accounts and the cheaters simply buy a new account for 5€. Honestly, I find the ban wave rather ridiculous as it doesn't really do anything.
2 -
Yeah I've been noticing alot of self unhooks when everyone is slugged.
Also seen some unbreakables without actually have the perk or the boon.
They're already back.
5 -
My girlfriends uncle works at Microsoft and she works at Sony.
IDC about Epic.

I had a team where 2 of them just opened the door and left while one stayed behind to bait, i downed the bait and the one on the hook jumped off and stood in the exit. after hooking their friend they waited in the exit while their friend also got the 4% and instantly left while their friend tanked a hit somehow and ran directly at the hatch like they could see it.
No deliverance and i forgot to look for whatever they tanked a hit with. Could have been a med kit, i don't know.
2 -
I thought it was fishy. Looks like I will be doing more detective work and reporting. It's tiresome though.

Here we go again. We still ignore the influx of players due to corona lockdowns in 2020. We still ignore the fact that were in a period between Rifts, where most people make breaks. Were just in before a midchapter, which mostly has low play rates due to having no new content.
3 -
I stopped playing because I got sick of going against the same thing every game. Every survivor at high MMR runs dead hard, unbreakable, and DS. At least one will have a boon. Barely any exceptions to this. SBMM is so unfun for anyone who isn't in the low middle MMR. Nothing enjoyable about facing sweat lords with OP perks every single game.
7 -
Idk probably the same people that say vhs is gonna kill dbd. Idk what’s the point of these threads
9 -
The upcoming licensed asym games will probably exacerbate the decline too. No matter how many login rewards get chucked our way.
4 -
Do people really not think that global lockdowns and a very popular franchise (amongst gamers) being incorporated into this game could maybe have artificially inflated the player base for a time?
Obviously player retention is an issue and there are a multitude of reasons why people quit (some the Devs can do something about others not so much) but when someone posts “we’re back to March 2020 levels” I find myself thinking “gee what happened in March 2020 which could have increased the player count”. You know, like being shut indoors with nothing else to do.
6 -
Yeah, I guess we'll never know the reason. VHS, Propnight, HSH, Last Year... well... DBD died many times. But those declared dead live longer.
1 -
So if we eventually go as low as February 2020 numbers, some people would still call the numbers an overall increase cause its more players than when the game just got released LOL
The current numbers show that ALL the people who joined during the RE chapter LEFT + an additional amount of players. How can you call that "growing"?
BHVR doing login-"events" the past two weekends also shows how desperate they are to boost login stats for their shareholders.
10 -
Whoa there. Whoa whoa whoa. Sounds like you want a lot of QoL to make the game user friendly or simply not antagonistic. What about another dlc in 3 months instead?
9 -
Much easier to cheat on the Epic version from what I understand. Apparently easy on Steam, but doubly so on Epic.
1 -
So we basically evolved from Fnaf posting to Chart posting, both being equally spammy and annoying.
7 -
*I'm a killer and I'm not happy, i'll blame solo survivors*
Get a grip
3 -
So I’ll assume you like getting teammates who hide in lockers (the whole game), urban evasion around the map, play for the hatch, work with the killer, blow up gens then leave for you to get found, I could go on. I think SWF can get really annoying at times but literally anymore it’s like the only way not to die every match. (Take my words with a grain of salt as this is coming from a surv. main)
2 -
When the player count reaches 12k: 'It's just gone back to natural pre-Halloween DLC numbers!!'
14 -
Quite honestly I have been thinking of leaving. I killer main and since the mmr challenge ever single game I have gotten has been nothing but sweat. Gens are being done at an alarming rate. I don't expect or want easy games but getting completely rolled every game no matter what map pressure isn't fun either. Full thana and 1 penti stack doesn't even slow down the gens enough.
It simply isn't fun
7 -
harsh but true. i down a survivor on the first 20 second and the 1st generator is done. another generator proc my tinker so :/
2 -
It is even worse with new mmr. I'm only getting new players survivors as team and when playing the killer I'm playing against swfs mostly
2 -
I don't know where DbD is going at the moment but VHS will not kill it.
Last time I've played VHS, the monster role was an exhausting pain in the backside for the higher levels (say, above 50). Given the habit to ban people complaining about it (or anything) for x-phobia, I doubt it has changed.
3 -
*You said stuff I can't argue with so I'm just going to make up something that's not true then insult you*
Get a grip
4 -
I never played it but the game just looked like s*it. Every single game that’s a 4v1 is Gonna have the dbd haters saying that it will take down dbd. That’s annoying. Evil dead game looks interesting tho
