Something seriously needs to be done about Bubba's prevalent ability to facecamp.
*Title.
I think we all know about Bubbas facecamping issue. It's gotten so prevalent over the past years, and with how many perks are being added to support it (BW, NOED, NO WAY OUT, ETC.) I think it's time for Bubba's camping ability to be nerfed.

But that's kinda his thing.
Basement bubba is as lore fitting as it gets.
Maybe we should come to the consensus that survivors in the basement are dead for the rest of the team. At least against bubba.
18 -
It's there for comedic purposes.
7 -
I like it.
4 -
By that logic, Mikaela should be able to kill the killers.
7 -
There is something that can be done - do gens, leave him to his one kill and then get out.
Unfortunately you are always going to encounter the random moron who plays like this and while the spoil the match for the poor sucker on the hook, they also can't be having much fun standing in the same spot for most of the match.
I have never seen the same Bubba player I saw face camping someone out of the game a year ago still doing the same thing. They all bore of it eventually and end up wanting to actually play the game from what I can tell. So punish this play style but doing gens and getting out, you cant save that one person.
2 -
In the games I took stats for, facecamping Bubba's were much more prominent than normal Bubba's
12 -
I hate it, but people just need to accept it. When a teammate goes into the basement against Bubba, you have to write them off. When I get hooked and camped by a Bubba, I am sitting there hoping my team will leave me, so the Bubba gets as few kills as possible.
It's crap, but its the natural order.
2 -
Nah, he has his niche. If you do not want to get facecamped, you have an entire map of pallets. Run, sucka, run!
2 -
Don't worry i'm sure they will gut his ass. Then Nurse/Blight number soar even HIGHER.
0 -
Bubba is so far below those two it wouldn't make a difference; you never see him at high MMR. Bubba's niche is camping, outside of that, he's pretty unremarkable.
Nurse and Blight live in another world from the other killers. Spirit was there before her nerfs.
3 -
This is thematic and making game better in general.
0 -
Now just need to nerf blight and nurse thought spirit is not to far off from them but her movement speed could be buffed to 115%.
0 -
well bhvr is planning to do something about face camping as a strategy, but not a nerf to bubba.
0 -
But she already is killing killers with her CoH.
15 -
Looping bubba around the basement gives me the adrenaline rush I need.
0 -
Could you please provide us an official source? Not that we’ll ever see it happen, I’m sure.
0 -
I see it as a meme, I take it as a compliment, I obviously looped them well. Unless it was straight away then let everyone do gens, I don’t care 🤣
0 -
The fact it’s persisted into two Q & As is evidence enough. Facecamping Bubba has existed in the game since his release over 4.5 years ago. But yeah, it’s definitely all killer players that are leaving DbD (/s).

I don’t think they’ll do anything to Bubba necessarily, but they have specifically said they have been experimenting with systems to steer killers away from literal facecamping. Zone defense is fine but they don’t like how face camping plays out for either side since the optimal strategy when it happens is the other survivors just sit and do gens and (if it’s not Bubba for instance) maybe do a hook trade after 90 seconds or so.
If I had to guess for instance I wouldn’t be surprised if the mechanic they put in place to move Cages around was also kind of a backdoor test to see if it might be a good system for hooks too.
0 -
Well that may well be the case but either way, the solution is still the same; do gens fast, leave them to their one kill and get out. Rewarding them by rushing hooks and giving them free kills just encourages that. You can't do much if some loser is happy to stand in one spot for a top tier gaming experience
0 -
They'll get two almost guaranteed.
Depending on the perk set-ups they could get three.
Also, that assumes you can communicate with your team.
7 -
As much as I want something to be done about camping, teleporting survivors to different hooks doesn’t make sense and isn’t the solution. That’s an exclusive power for Pyramid Head designed to bypass hooks altogether, for the benefit of saving time but at the risk of not being able to pressure an area (and not utilize hook-related perks).
Makes more sense to me to streamline that non-mobile killer powers can’t be used too close to a hooked survivor, as we see with Twins, Pyramid Head trails, and Artist crows.

Maybe, it depends how you play it.
But I have played with solos who understand what is happening and do rush the gens and we get out. Though I do acknowledge that probably more often than not team mates are stupid and hand them a free kill, or they get caught with the inevitable NOED at the end.

The only way to do that is nerf his power or camping completely, both relatively bad options. Every killer can camp, Bubba is just the best killer to do it with.
1 -
Bubba is a very weak killer. Against decent survivors, sometimes camping is the only option unless you want an eight minute match where all four escape.
Yesterday I had a match on Blood Lodge where a survivor had three pallets in the middle of the map. Two safe, one 50/50 where I was able to bloodlust and get a hit. But those pallets were right next to the basement, and on their left was the fun bus. Any time I chased three of the survivors, they ran to this area. Imagine how long I would have to chase in order to wear down just this one part of the map. Well you don’t need to imagine, I did it, they did three gens while I chased a Laurie around all of that. And after those three pallets, the fun bus, running the shack window and the god pallet, the fun bus was close to an LT tike with another pallet, and then they dead harded to the main two story building with a window and another 50/50 pallet and that’s where I finally downed her. Literally the only two places where counterplay and mind games were possible, and I succeeded at both, but still lost three gens (basically four) because the tiles are so strong and Bubba is so weak.
The basement was in the main two story building so you bet I hooked her there and camped her to death. And guess what? Survivors are so overly altruistic, they popped the fourth gen soon after the hook but then they stopped doing gens so try and save and I got a 3k 😆

Mechanically teleporting hooks makes basically as much sense as teleporting Cages. (To clarify, I’m talking about the system where if Pyramid Head is within 5 meters of someone who is already Caged for about 3 seconds the Cage moves elsewhere.) It was specifically put in to eliminate face camping of Cages.
Aside from technical issues of reprogramming how Hooks work I’m not sure why they didn’t pull the trigger on doing this with hooks as well. Maybe there was some mechanical downside to it I’m overlooking. 🤷♂️

Because that'd kill any amount of pressure Killers could get from a good Hook placement?
I certainly wouldn't like it if my Survivor got teleported on the other side of my 3-Gen
1 -
This.
I constantly play a 3gen strat when needed and if I hook you in the 3gen, I am not going to leave the 3gen.
Having hooks like Pyramid Head would destroy any pressure used by hooks, especially Scourge hooks. Having those 2 scourge hooks in the 3gen can change the game.

The old counter play to face camping bubba (do gens and get a 3 man out) no longer suffices when you factor in deadlock, no way out etc.
Huge buffs to camaraderie would be a good place to start
2 -
Devs stated long ago, that they tested stuff like this and guess what.
They said survivors abused it during tests and it caused more camping because survivors use stuff like that to trap the killer in a bind where survivors swarm the hook, causing him no game progress.
Already tested and abused,.
0 -
that makes no sense at all. The killer can progress the game just by not camping?
0 -
How does it not make sense that if survivors could stop struggle progress that they would swarm the hook to deny the killer any kills? It creates a situation where the killer has no reason to leave, and the survivors are causing him to stay.
As stated, it was tested and the devs said that is the outcome, meta-wise survivors will just abuse it.
Camaraderie is the perk form of what was tested (slowing/stopping hook progress if survs are near hook)

He's been around a long time and I remember camping being far worse then it is today.
Poor Bubba first his Leather faces get taken away now people want his Chainsaw turned into a fisher price toy.
0 -
Not only that, overheat mechanic was added to stop endless revving at hooks, and swivel hooks were added to stop facecamping etc,... these Minecrafters have no idea what it used to be like.
0 -
But it doesnt delay the hook timer indefinitely, so all that is doing is keeping multiple survivors off gens to slow the game down... Literally worse than proccing it once and running away and doing gens?
0 -
The tests were done BEFORE Camaraderie was added. So they gave you a perk that did something similar, and was not infinite. I am only telling you what the devs said.
0 -
Just reread your reply, I see what you're saying now, I wasn't suggesting stopping the timer for as long as the survivor is in range of the hook. Camaraderie is pretty bad because it requires the perk user to be the one that is hooked, so you either get lucky or all 4 survivors run it.
My thoughts were a buff more along the lines of it applies to the person on the hook whether they have the perk or the person in range has the perk, and possibly an increase in duration to reflect the addition of newer passive slow down perks.
0 -
Ah yes, how could we forget! Bubba can no longer indefinitely rev.. in exchange for a faster chainsaw sweep that can still be charged in the same amount of time it takes a survivor to complete the unhook animation. Bubba facecamping was fixed all along!
🙄

Unless facecamping itself is addressed this will always be an issue. If we nerf bubba's facecamp people will probably use trickster or something to do it. Any killer that can chew through health states. I do hope they do something about it soon though, because many people will play him to harass streamers and facecamp them.
0 -
Or it could help killers by teleporting the hooked survivor to a better spot, that works both ways.

I'm a Basement Bubba (Insidious). He doesn't need a rework. It's 4 Survivors against 1 Killer and Survivors have the use of headsets to communicate. Killers are on their own. I don't like getting face-camped but it's still a strategy and I do it as a Killer. I became a Bubba Main because of the insane amount of body blocking and bullying that I was encountering. Teams have a harder time doing that with Bubba and it's a nice change of pace. Here's some advice, don't taunt the Killer (teabagging, body-blocking, getting in their face and motioning for them to chase you, repeatedly clicking your flashlight at them). That's how you get camped.
0 -
But then how will I be able to Basement Bubba? :(
0 -
Something needs to be done about survivors ability to dead hard.
0 -
I don't have an issue with Dead Hard as much as I do with Survivors that have this SUS ability to very quickly loop around corners repeatedly. Some of them seemingly "disappear" after doing so or they continue to loop at insane speeds. The reason I say SUS is because I've tried the same exact play numerous times and it doesn't seem possible to me.
0 -
If you want to understand.
He is not the Hero you will like but he is the one we need.
I am not the creator but i think this is the best Bubba video i have seen so far.

LOL I love it when I get an, "EZ" or "Get Good" message after a game. In some cases, it was a bully squad that clearly had speed cheats going for them. Sometimes the cheating is blatantly obvious and at other times it isn't. I was camping yesterday in Ormond and had a Survivor hooked on a hill. Now it's possible that the other three Survivors snuck by me but very unlikely. I turned around and all three healthy Survivors were blocking the hook and they all managed to escape. I turned for maybe two seconds but there weren't any scratch marks indicating that anyone passed by me... very SUS.
