So is there a reason the tome numbers are no longer Roman numerals?
It looked a lot better and was unique. made the books look a lot older. and like they were found. but now it's just 1 2 3 4 5 ect.

They abandoned it early because the clock in BHVR towers only has 12 hours on it, and they realised they don't know what number 13 looks like.

Probably just another unnecessary change (Like the title screen font and cover art changes). I liked the Roman Numerals as it made the tomes look unique and fit a bit into DBD's lore.

I like Roman numerals but bigger Roman numbers just look less cleaner? Like "Tome 28" as opposed to "Tome XXVIII". Or, if we ever get to Tome 50, "Tome L" lol
It might also be a language thing, I could be wrong on this but I think Roman numerals outside Western contexts aren't common at all, relative to Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3...) which are more or less universally understood.

General knowledge, is something that literally takes 1 hour and while not very useful you can say almost the same about anything they teach at school that isnt related to wathever you will do for a living, why do mechanics, doctors, engineers need literature? why do historians, chefs drivers need math more complex than add, substract, multiply and divide?.
Knowledge of any kind shouldnt be frowned upon and learning stuff even if useless is good for the brain, helps develop it.

It is not uneducated Hillbillys, it is younger new generations who cannot read them. Most likely college kids. Same way kids today cannot tell time on normal clocks.

Well I read an article about how American kids didn't know how to read analog clocks, so instead of teaching them how to do it, the school removed all the analog clocks lol

"Math" is not really relevant for most people. If you are talking about actual math.
If you talk about the stuff you learn in School, this is not really "Math". At least I dont need any complicate functions in my daily life.

I have taken higher education, they didnt teach us Roman Numerals there either. Complicated Functions are relevant to my job.
Roman Numerals I assume would be some basic school stuff, which serves no relevance in modern society so It ought to go.
As well as being fancy in Videogames.
The Math you learn in Basic Schools is relevant as well as preparing for higher education.

Because Roman numerals are taught when you are around 10 years old in school not in college also they are taught in history class not math since they are used to teach about the Roman empire and how it worked, you could say they serve to prepare kids to learn about how humankind organized and how the world worked long ago, they are useless to everyone who doesnt study history but you can say the same about any subject that has nothing to do with what you end up doing for a living outside of basic literacy like reading or adding. I work in an oil refinery, I dont know what use I have for 12 years of literature or the rivers and mountains of Europe or Roman numerals even if they are a foundation for people who went to arts or geography careers.
I still think it was good that I was taught about all those things even if I only use the knowledge to play Trivial.
P.D. teaching Roman numerals takes like 1 hour tops, its an extremely simple system, its not like we waste weeks or months studying them.

This is an offtopic but if I dont say it I will literally explode.
Somewhat it is but also all the information and knowledge gets flooded between a ton of disinformation, absurdity, superfast-to-consume media and the glorification of basic literacy.
How many fake videos does Youtube have about "lifehacks" that are false?, how many false "did you know this piece of trivia?" articles out there?, internet has an insane amount of information but its not curated in any way and lies spread rampart, you can literally write wathever absurdity you want like dinosaurs coexisting with humans and if someone famous believes it and spreads the article people will eventually take it for the truth.

At best, it's taught in an history class in high school.

Indeed. We have access to a lot of information but the tendency is to make ever shorter inane easily digestible content that even a moron will watch. Accuracy isn't part of the requirements.
It's good for the "elites" as a smart population cannot be so easily controlled.
