What's going on with matchmaking today?
I played 5 solo survivor games and the most the team ever completed was 3 gens. Half of the matches just 2 gens. Is this supposed to be the new and improved matchmaking system? Anybody has similar experience, in solo specifically or is it just bad luck?

Sounds like normal SoloQ to me. At least that's what I saw since they touched the MMR.

It could very well be tome challenges. I know for me, I wasted time on some of them like doing 10 totems, 6 sabos when I could of been on gens. It seems everyone is doing the same thing. Survivor challenges pull away from the objective.

Yes, but... Isn't SBMM supposed to adjust for that? Not doing well (low skill) adjust MMR down and give easier matches? I mean, we are not talking some small difference in supposed skill here. The killers are basically dominating baby solo matches that I had today.

Matchmaking has been mostly decent so far for me, exception being when a survivor left one of my killer lobbies and got replaced, you always get a real wild card when that happens. In this case it was a Feng that hid in lockers with deep wound before falling out of them when it expired.

Cool. I just tried another solo Q game. Same thing. 3 people on same gen at game start (who does that?) huntress downs 2 in 15 seconds. I don't feel like there is any point to even try after that.

Now 7 matches of no escapes. Cenobite with 4 gen slowdown perks.
I've heard that if you give a lot of monkey tapewriters, they can create masterpiece. I wonder if BHVR can find enough monkeys with keyboards to create a working matchmaking system.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having a terrible time since this change went live.

Yeah, I honestly don't see the point spending any more time until the "matchmaking" is fixed. No wonder people are leaving. 10 games today. 1 escape. If 10% escape rate is normal, I'm out.

Theoretically, yes. But if there aren't that many people at the top, then players towards the top are going to be matched downward by quite a bit. It has been my major point of contention with the MMR update. There's still way too little space between the top and mid MMR and too wide of an acceptable matchmaking range. A 350 MMR difference is not going to be an acceptable skill difference for players at the top end of that range. I just get frustrated with teammates I get matched with and log off.

Yeah, that's a huge problem. Actually 2 problems. You get frustrated with low skill teammates. Low skill teammates get frustrated with too high skill killer.
I had that as a killer yesterday. Low and high skill survivors matched together. If I chase high skill, I lose game, so I don't do it. So, instead, I identify low skill, kill them off early (matchmaking problem 1), then high skill get frustrated that they have no chases and then it's easy to kill them after low skill gen workers are gone (matchmaking problem 2). So the game becomes the game of identifying low skill early. Easy 4k. The only problem for killer is when you have well matched SWF or if you chase wrong people.

I wonder if they rolled back people's ratings or implemented rating decay. I haven't played in maybe 3 months, came back for Legion and SBMM changes, and only had exit gates opened 2 out of the first 50 games. When I played late last night and today, I had so many super tough matches.
Edit: Games have gone back to being easy overall. I think there may be more very strong survivors on average late at night (and cheaters).

Very quick queues, but you'll get a mix of a couple good and a couple bad. Try turning off crossplay. I'm on PC, and that helps.

" only had exit gates opened 2 out of the first 50 games" - holy .... I'm speachless.... I didn't know that was still a thing. That just can't be very healthy for the game. Press F to pay respects to SBMM.

Yeah, seems WAY chiller now on average. I main a bottom-tier killer, too. If you play really late at night, you can still get some tough matches. Probably lots of cheaters, too. But most of the time, it's not anywhere close to as bad as before.
Props to the devs for making some positive changes to SBMM. The game is much more enjoyable for me to play again.

That's a flawed logic. Yes, mmr is meant to adjust the skill level of your adversary to your own, but in the case of solo queue, it also adjust the skill level of your allies.
Having your survivor mmr too low will cause you to enter the so called "low mmr hell", where your other solo Q companions will be abysmal. No matter how skilled you are individually, if the other 3 survivors are so bad they go down in 15 seconds, constantly fail skill checks and unhook without BT in the face of the killer, chances are that you too will also die or escape through hatch (no mmr change) and so you will remain in mmr hell.
The babiest of baby killers can still chase a survivor in a straight line, hit them and hook them, so even if they are inexperienced, they will still dominate this kind of games and if the survivors are goofing around trying to do challenges, it only worsens the situation.
Anyway, welcome to hell. Be aware that the only way out requires at least 2 other survivors who are your friends and are willing to bail you out.

Absolutely nothing. It's the same utterly worthless piece of garbage it has always been. This is the best BHVR is willing (and lets be honest can) do.

Isnt matchmaking completely random for months now?
