Is the game always a mess post-patch?
I'm kinda new to the game and this is the first time I've played consistently through a new patch of this size. Played off and on since launch but this is the first time I dumped any amount of money and hours into the game.
I'm seeing many people complain and make blanket statements about the devs ability to deal with patch integrity. It's hard to differentiate between honest critique and internet people just being internet people
Is post-patch always this bad? Not complaining, at least that isn't my intent, but does this happen frequently with their patches? Trying to decide if I want to stick around and get annoyed at bad coding every couple of months.

It has happened in the past, however so far this recent patch has seems relatively stable. A hotfix should go out in a week or two for any recurring issues.

It's hard to differentiate between honest critique and internet people just being internet people. That is correct.

There was an engine update this patch so expect more bugs than usual.

I'm not sure what you mean by "this bad", but thankfully that leads into my answer to your question anyway:
There's usually something, but it's usually minor and doesn't usually affect everyone. I genuinely haven't noticed any diminished performance or major bugs (except for Bitter Murmur not working for some reason) on my end, so even if you're noticing something this time, you might not next time.
There'll be hotfixes for some things, though. Those usually don't take too long to come out.
General rule of thumb for this community is that any complaint you see is either not really a problem or being blown at least somewhat out of proportion, if that helps.

Fair point, 'this bad' isn't very descriptive. Basically going from playable to mostly unplayable re; server connectivity issues. Pair that with the weird happenings with the chat filter and it's enough to give a newcomer some justifiable concern imo.
And yeah, if the toxicity of the actual game has any measure of spillover into the forums I'm sure there is bound to be some ridiculous overblowing of actual issues.

It's very possible that is a patch thing, but hopefully it'll be fixed pretty soon.
It happens, DBD isn't the most polished and stable game that's ever been released, but usually it doesn't last too long- at least on PC. I've heard console has pretty consistent performance issues, but to be fair, those wouldn't have started post-patch so they're not super relevant here.

this is by far the worst I’ve seen a patch affect the performance of the game on my PC.

Absolutely, I remember for about 2 years (when I started 2019-2021) every patch broke the game. Anyone here remember when Oni released?
The only issue this patch I've noticed is random rubber banding. Which is really annoying. Not sure if it actually affects your position or is a visual glitch tho

LMAO. This is the first patch I haven't complained about.

Yeah 90% of it is internet people being just that. The bastion of knowledge that was meant to be the net has become a swarm of idiots and misinformation.
Personally I find things are usually pretty buggy after a big path and are typically patched out over the coming month or so.
Makes me usually not log in until a week or so has passed post any major update. Also I’m walking away for a bit again because well, you see this community and what it’s like. Post major patch is usually a good Time to take a pause till they iron out all the bugs.
