Midwich Has Been Killswitched!
Hooray!

what happened?
when will they kill switch legion tho?
0 -
There's some invincibility areas for survivors
1 -
What is game-breaking, dc-forcing about Legion?
10 -
sometimes with no sleep pills you can be prevented from vaulting pallets or windows in your power. dont think thats gamebreaking tho
2 -
well good hope it gets fixed I like the map.
2 -
Confirmed deadspaces that survivors can use. Had a survivor refuse to come out of the third floor stairwell corner and couldn't reach them with anything.
They must have really wanted to win because they DC'd later when I caught them on the gate switch.

Mary's Letter is the Map Offering, not the Map itself
7 -
About time. The hooks spawns are awful.
3 -
so that mean the map can still show up O_o guess that still good
1 -
it's existance

Yes, banning the offering means no one can intentionally send the killer to the map, knowing that there's an invincible spot, but the map could still come up naturally for the majority of players who don't know about the bug, and thus won't exploit it.
If that is the case. I haven't see the patch notes myself yet, but they could have also included 'Midwich has been removed from the map roster' as a separate point.
0 -
If the offering has been removed, so has the map.
0 -
Midwich and RCPD are both miserable, imo.
2 -
It's good they killswitched the offering but they should've also killswitched the map so players don't get randomly sent there. I don't get why they killswitched Haddonfield and it's offering for months while they did the rework but they won't kill switch maps when they have exploits like this.
5 -
Glad they responded to this fairly quickly. You can still get the map, but if it shows up randomly, it's way less likely the survivors know the glitch and intend to exploit it. Map offerings were far more likely to intend to abuse the bug.

Looks like there are ways around equipping killswitched items, unless this offering had been equipped pre-killswitch (in which case, that's something the devs need to work around and check for on match load)
4 -
Spot on top of stairs where killer can't hit/down survivors.
0 -
Person has to restart the game for it to take affect unfortunately.
2 -
It only says the Map Offering has been kill-switched, not the Map
0 -
The map offering, Mary's Letter (Midwich) has been temporarily disabled, not the map itself.
2 -
The map itself should be disabled too than. Kinda doesn’t make sense to disable the offering only.
7 -
They disable offering to prevent forcing the map in order to use the exploit. Dumb? Yes. .....
They should really disable the map if they haven't already.
4 -
I legit just spawned on Midwich so no it hasn't
0 -
Midwich itself is still in rotation...the offering to go there has been disabled (as shown in the OP's screenshot).

This is an example of a reason why I think they should just get rid of map offerings altogether. Whenever there's an exploitable issue on a map the offerings only exacerbate the problem by allowed people to force the game onto it. In this case they ended up killswitching this specific offering because of this type of problem, but there's always going to be a lag between when something like this comes up and their ability to respond by killswitching the offering. And that's ignoring the cases where you have a map that doesn't literally have game breaking bug but which does have some serious balance issue that isn't quite worth suspended the map entirely but is still powerful enough that people will keep opting to go to that same map over and over and over.
I really think whatever minor benefits might exist from map offerings are seriously outweighed by the downsides.
2 -
I'm so glad it's still in rotation 😈.

Disable the map.
5 -
I'm good with getting rid of map offerings as long as 2 things are done first. 1. Add "great heights" to all maps (looking at you shelter woods) so I can do the dumb fall from great height in chase challenges. 2. Make it so I don't get sent without offering to the same map multiple matches in a row - there's 16 realms but I end out going to same one or two unless I play a map offering to finally go somewhere else.
1 -
1) Honestly map dependent challenges are dumb anyway, I'd be happy to see them go too.
2) I'm ok with the idea of, when a lobby is about to go to a match, have the map selection algorithm pick a map that none of the five players went to in any of their most recent games. That would still leave over 30 maps to choose from.
1 -
Even if it were, that would just mean kill switching the addon.
0 -
They should disable the whole map. But this is something at least.
0 -
So many messed up glyph locations; some just plain uninteractable, one was spawned inside a table.
0 -
So I guess BHVR are totally fine with keeping a map with known bugs in the rotation? Good to know
1 -
It only negatively affects killers, so they don’t care about it.
2 -
? Not the first time they disable map offering but not the map itself...
0 -
@MandyTalk The problem is, the existence of this exploit is going to spread like wildfire, especially now that people will be asking why Mary's Letter was disabled. Y'all really need to kill switch the map entirely, because I guarantee survivors are going to abuse it even if they just happen upon the map randomly. Why leave legitimately toxic behavior available for players to abuse in any capacity? Please don't leave Midwich in rotation for now...
6 -
I don't understand. Disable the map offering because of bug but keep the map? Ehmmm.... Okay...
1 -
Well notice that legion cant break pallets on frenzy mode so is a easy win chase for surv
0 -
The issue is you assume they are not aware of that.
0 -
Well if they are aware then what possible reason is there for leaving the map in rotation? I had a match as killer today on Midwich after the offering was disabled and one player knew about it and abused it changing the entire course of the game. I don't know if the other survivors knew and chose not to abuse it or just didn't know, but the fact of the matter is, this is going to ruin any game on Midwich, whether players intend to play there or not. I really don't get the resistance to kill switching the map entirely, as they've kill switched maps for less, like when Dead Dawg had a chance to spawn a single uncleanse-able totem. Meanwhile they won't kill switch a map that has an actually abusable gameplay exploit? Really?
0 -
But alternatively you can just not go into Frenzy
0 -
I'm surprised given the issue the map wasn't also kill switched.
1 -
Coldwing had uncleansable totems for months. Same for Lery's. Nurse range add-on are still bugged and give extra speed. Just few examples.

If you ask me they should disable/remove all licensed maps from the game, there isn't a single one among them which isn't survivor sided.
Name ONE licensed map which is in the slightest fair to killers, you cannot.
Gideon Meat Plant? Pallet town. Springwood? Preschool building is an infinite loop. Haddonfield? Every house contains an infinite loop or godpallet. RPD? Absolute hell to navigate in, sheer misery inducing. Midwich? Press W to win, killers can be seen from miles away due to how long the corridors are.
0 -
Considering the fact I've played 3 games today, 2 of which have been Midwich, with survivors exploiting this bug, I am entirely for killswitching the map too.
0 -
The problem with these announcement is, as always with these exploits, twitch streamers are showing it everytime they get the Midwich map, guess what that means?
Now, more and more people are doing it, where I never noticed anyone before now you see it, because Big DBD Streamer #1563 stayed up all night making sure tens of thousands of survs were aware of it before its patched.
JUST LIKE ASYLUM exploits of old, and no one gets banned for it
