New Game modes are needed. DbD is stale

Other games bring multiple events per year which include new game modes and twists for the time limited event. Noone cares how balanced it is because it super fun and refreshing.

How come DbD NEVER EVER tried out something new? 7 years and we are still doing the same 1 singular game mode. As a live service game its really sad. There has to happen more.

Take Apex Legends as an Example BHVR

????killers vs ???? Survivors for mode 1 and mode 2 ???killers vs ???? Survivors survival mode. No gens, no hooks each survivor gets 1 life, killer has mori on base if they go to dying state. Objective is to wait out the timer. If you wait it out you survive.

This would be incredibly fun, although i think something like that should be standard for the SWF mode,

First person survivor, that would be terrorfying.

All aura reading perks disabled for the killer so it's more like hide and seek instead of cat and mouse as survivors would have a harder time during a chase.

Playing as survivor in first person would bring the horror into Dead by Daylight, for sure its something I'd like to try one day.

A maze type of game (getting from point A to B) where a number of survivors have to slip past the killers to escape. Escaping will require different tasks or puzzles to be completed.

The mode should have their own perks, addons and items and every map should have its own rules and interactable elements.

Killers can't kill survivors, but they thwart their efforts (for instance if the killer surprises a survivor in the middle of a task, he can stop him, lock the survivor up and even relocate the task elsewhere.

The game is on a timer and will end if the time runs out before the survivors manage to escape, as a loss for them. If the survivors escape they win, but also if all survivors are locked up at the same time it's a loss (however survivors can free themselves, but every time they do this, the time to free themselves increases, however if an ally comes to the rescue its very fast.

Survivors can fight back against the killers by using environmental dangers, even forcing them to relocate or disabling them for a few moments, closing doors, etc. They can also stall for time by sabotaging contraptions around the maze and cooperate to complete their objectives.

Killers are graded based on how long they kept the survivors trapped and how much they thwarted their progress so they can actually choose to cooperate or compete for the entity's favor.

Survivors are graded by how much they contributed to the team effort, rescues, killer interaction, etc.

The gameplay should be less chase centric and more about evasion and deceit, the killer should be a menacing presence forcing the survivor to fight back or flee spending map resources (kinda like Mr X).

New game modes are not needed, they can't even balance one mode. The reason the main game feels stale is because of poor killer design and a lack of better balancing to change up the meta.

You don't need new modes, you need better balance and killer design to make each match feel more different from one another.

Game staleness isn't the sickness, it's just a symptom of the real problem.

They've failed to balance this game for so long that honestly introducing new modes is the only way to bring the juice back to the game. The game has been rediculed balance-wise for like half a decade now, from what i know, it's been like this since release. We just need new modes that are like party modes/casual modes or just outright different, the normal DBD gameplay is stale

There are SO MANY alternate game modes you could make for this game. I was heartened to see "would you play an alt game mode" on the most recent survey, because it means they're at least CONSIDERING it.

Just a quick list off the top of my head:

    • Every time they finish a gen, their team gains +1 point, the killer gains +1 Bloodlust, and the gen goes back to 0 progress. When a survivor is hooked, they're automatically 'killed' and they respawn at a random spot on the map (away from the killer), the killer gains +1 point, and removing 1 stack of Bloodlust. To prevent slugging, when they down a survivor, they automatically pick them up and cannot manually drop them. The game is timed and whichever side has the points points 'wins.'
    • Generators can't be repaired at the start of the match. Every possible chest spawn point has a chest in it, and chests close and respawn their loot after a period of time. Chests take much longer to 'open' and always contain a 'special' match-only tool box that is required to 'unlock' a gen for repairs (the toolbox is consumed after turning on a gen). If you use a special tool box on a gen that's already been unlocked, it works like a Brand New Part.
    • Every type of Glyph spawns on the match and gradually respawn after being consumed. The Exit Gates start open but cannot be exited through normal means. Survivors who successfully collect every type of glyph can leave the match. Survivors who get hooked lose half their glyphs. If a survivor dies, everyone left on the team loses one Glyph.

    And so forth

I've genuinely never heard a single good idea for a different game mode, everything I've see just looks awful.

    2 v 8

    Story mode

Hardcore mode (no TR, stain, hud, limited perks)

    1st person perspective mode

Party mode such as a last man standing or 1v1 find the hatch.

It's the meta that is stale. High MMR is legit the same perks every single game. They really need to spice it up. I bring meme builds as killer but survivors almost always full meta.

Literally Identity V has 4 other game modes. 2v8, tarot (two teams consisting of 1 killer and 3 survivors battling. Goal is for your teams killer to kill the enemies king while the other two survivors assist the king or sabotage the enemy team.), Blackjack (very complicated to explain), and phantom shadows. All of which open and close at set times every day

The discussion is still open and alive, it was simply moved to the correct section.
