How come players don’t use Desperate Measures?

DM + Boon: COH = EZ Legion Counter.

Even if you don’t go against a Legion, it is still a solid combo.

Add BT, BAM! Fast Hook Rescues.

I really do feel like this perk is slept on. It has helped me out is many situations and I encourage others to give it a try. It also makes COH feel great!

Why waste 2 perk slots to completely counter split pressure when all you need is 1? CoH single handedly counters all split pressure, you don't need to waste another perk slot.

    I use it

It's a solid perk against campers because of the faster unhook

I run Desperate Measures alongside Botany Knowledge to counter the Self Care speed penalty

It’s a nice perk, but requires the team to be doing badly for maximum value. As @ReverseVelocity stated above, Botany is more consistent plus the furtherance of using a medkit. The faster unhooking speed is quite situational and really not too noticeable.

If the unhooking speed was like double what it is now, it would go a long way for the perk.

I'd love to, but I haven't seen it on the shrine.

I generally prefer botany, and COH being meta makes other healing perks less important. But it’s still a decent perk and can be really valuable for unhooking against a camping killer.

Desperate measures by itself sucks. Botany knowledge without med-kit by itself sucks.

Botany knowledge+Desperate measure is solid. Its too expensive for two perk slot.

It would see more use if botany knowledge+Desperate measure was a single perk. you can pair with self-care but it is just too many perks slots.

The perk that does combine these 3 perks is COH hence why some killer complain about it, so it keeps getting worse. Another negative change to that perk will kill that perk from existence.

In my opinion Even , Autodidact is more consistent

It's an amazing perk imo. The only reason it's not run too much is because there is a lot better perks to run. Especially in a meta where tunnelling is usually needed.

I use it as part of my "Safe Rescue" build, which is Borrowed Time, Desperate Measures, Babysitter/Guardian and Spine Chill. With one other injured Survivor and the one in the hook, it's a solid unhook fast enough even if the Killer is camping. Very few Killers expect it and most grab situations get cancelled.

Granted I only ever use it with BHVR's latest missions all "Unhook 100 Survivors, must unhook them safely" like they aren't promoting camping as a legit tactic.

I like it for the faster unhooking speed alone. I actually wish the devs would get rid of the bonus healing speed and make it 25% per stack, so you'd have an omega unhooking perk

The best way to view it is to look at its best case vs other healing perks:

Leader: Grants up to a collective 75% action speed to most non generator actions including healing. it also lingers for 15 seconds after moving away from the survivor with Leader. This does so much that while technically a healing perk is in a category of its own.

Botany Knowledge on a maxed out medkit can give you not only 33% faster healing but an entire extra heal or two from the medkit and stack very well with built to last which can give it up to an additional 3+ extra self heals.

Inner Healing can let you hide in a locker while healing at twice the normal speed and bypasses all negative healing modifiers.

Autodidact can let you fully heal someone in under 5 seconds once fully stacked.

Then you have Boon:Circle of Healing which even in its current form can give up to a 200% collective healing speed increase if all 4 survivors are healing themselves. This also allows everyone to heal themselves without a medkit to boot and still buffs medkit healing.

Boon:Circle of Healing also lets you know where the killer is as its a boon and when snuffed pings the killer's location. Plus it stacks with other boons making blessing more effective by having more blessing on one boon totem.

Now compare all that to Desperate Measures' max 56% healing and unhooking speed. Its by far the weakest healing perk even in ideal situations.

It's simply outclassed. You can only run 4 perks, and other healing perks are just better than Desperate Measures. It could use a buff.

To be fair Desperate Measures is outclassed by Botany Knowledge.

BK heals faster on average and gives you more charges on a medkit. I'm not say it's a knockout, but it's clear BK is the overall better perk.

Leader+Botany Knowledge+Desperate Measures+Self-Care. You got mad heals bro.

    This.

Desperate Measures is better viewed as an unhooking perk with a healing bonus.

I typically only use desperate measures for jokes, and to get "value." Similar to when I use autodidact, any means, diversion, or other meme perks like that.

Desperate measures is a super perk and works well on its own and comboed with other healing perks, its autodiadact i feel sorry for, boons really ######### that perk over and its best pairing perk imo (Solidarity) has been ######### over with new haemorrhage

Something my friend and I tried recently, It turns out you can "Cheese" Autodidact now if the killer is using Sloppy Butcher or anything else that causes Hemorrhaging.

The biggest problem with Autodidact is that you have to struggle getting all 5 stacks by healing everyone else all game, hoping the RNG gives you skill checks, and avoiding getting killed, but if you have a friend on comms, you can coordinate with them, heal them to almost full, wait a few seconds for Hemorrhage to reduce the progress to 0 again and keep healing them to get all 5 stacks very quickly.

Obviously this also pairs well with CoH, but overall, both my friend an I achieved getting all 5 stacks of Auto after spending about 30-40 ish seconds healing each other, but for some games it took even less time thanks to favorable RNG.

I won't say it was "Super Effective" honestly, just more consistent, because coming in with a fully stacked Autodidact and healing someone fresh off the hook in the early-mid game, makes it far more useful than spending until the endgame getting whatever stacks you can, only for it to be practically useless since most of the players will be on their death hook anyways.

I feel like desperate measure's power doesn't come from the healing speed but rather the unhook speed. In late game situations where everyone's injured it can be really goddamn good when you're coming in for some clutch unhooks. Pair it with borrowed time and babysitter and you've basically saved a teammate from certain death, although maybe at the cost of your own.

Its just a bad healing perk. To get maximum value you need everybody injured. First of all that is a terrible position to be in, and as a player you should avoid all being injured at any cost. Second its only 14%, that is terrible .You need 3 people injured to have a faster healing speed of botany knowledge and this speed decreases with each survivor you heal. So even if you had 4 injured survivors, its only 56% for the first heal, and it decreases from there. The developers actually realised this was not enough which is why they threw on the unhook ability as well. Which is extremely rare to have any meaningful value because the base unhook speed is really fast allready. It is purely a joke perk, unless cobined with somehting like bottnay or BT.

I saw someone suggest that desperate measures could be buffed to have faster mending speeds. That would be really cool imo.
