Could we please have less locked sets?

When required by licensed chapters or skins that change the character (Oni's Minotaur, Trapper's Krampus, the Crypt TV set, etc), linking a set makes sense. But all of these linked sets are kind of hampering our ability to customize our character.

Now, if a character is wearing a dress (Yun-Jin's gorgeous blue set, Jane's goddess dress), it would make sense to lock the torso and pants, but the hair could very well be unlocked for more attractive customization.

If a character is wearing a hoodie, sure, lock the head and torso together. (Although the existence of Bunny Feng's unlocked hoodies proves that the ability to equip hoodie heads with other outfits leads to some really cute combinations).

Please don't bring up the cosmetic glitch; not everyone plays on a platform that can glitch, and not everyone wants to risk the potential of getting banned for an exploit, however small the risk is.

I'm pretty sure with all the other issues & bugs this game faces as we wait for QOL changes, cosmetics overlapping a little is the last thing players care about. Survivor charms already clip through the clothes, and existing linked sets clip as well.

If the design team could find a way to unlock certain older designs that wouldn't cause body invisibility, or at least going forward, stop designing so many that require locking, it would go a long way in helping us all feel a little more free to make our characters unique. <3

They said you won't get banned for the cosmetic glitch,it's not an exploit.

Don't really care; not the point of the thread. We shouldn't have to glitch cosmetics that obviously don't need to be locked. Some platforms also can't do the glitch.

    Stop defaulting to the glitch.

Just saying it's not bannable,I've been advocating to have Yun-Jins pants unlocked since it came out.

Also at one point they did say that they are looking into unlocking parts that don't need to be locked but y'know don't expect anything fast from them.

We plead for this endlessly, and it always falls on deaf ears. You'd think they'd realize nobody likes the concept of sets, and yet they've been releasing more and more. While I can see why today's Nea Outfit #374 had to be a set, the skirt is much too high, we've had a couple of recent Feng sets where there was no excuse for their linking. Not to mention older stuff like long haired Felix, pig guts Twins, or socialite Yun-Jin.

Also, we've had quite a few dress cosmetics that worked just fine as mixable sets by splitting the dress into a shirt segment and a pants segment. Same with hoods. Obviously not every combination is going to look like it belongs together, but that's just how outfit customization works; I can create much worse fashion disasters mixing ordinary Hag pieces than I can by unlinking Kate's forbidden flower crown.

    This!

i actually hope that Store segment in the anniversary stream might include this - if it is related to the in-game store at all

I have no idea why so many linked sets are created. Licensed ones make sense but I'm not going to buy a set if it's linked.

If nobody buys them, they won't make them. Sadly i already see survivors with the new nea one in my game so good luck stopping them.

People keep buying the locked sets. So they will keep making them.

there is no reason any set and I mean ANY set that doesn't turn a character into a new one should be locked

If they can make feng bunny good unlocked then any cosmetic should have that capability

You are better off asking if you can get fries with your next auric cell order than this, my guy.

The Hoodie for Neas new outfit should've just been a part of the torso instead of the head. It was obviously not gonna work for the set to be mixed because of that decision

Fr she's a Kpop manager, and Korea has some of the best fashion available. Why are all of her cosmetics except the Lunar and blue dress ugly? ToT

Well people buy them so probably not.

They'd get more money out of the people by allowing us to purchase pieces of sets we actually want instead of us declining to buy because we don't want it linked.

Funniest thing about that to me is that even when worn in a full set, sometimes cosmetics still have obvious clipping issues so linked sets being introduced to stop clipping is really silly to me. Great example would be Jeff's unhinged rider outfit (my favourite cosmetic in the whole game and 90% of the reason I even main him) has an issue with the hair literally clipping into the fur on the back of the outfit. The hair literally has no clipping issues with other body items, but clips with the one it comes with, lol.

I also don't get it. Devs said its mostly for preventing clipping... What about to not design something that will clip with other cosmetics? Have a proper body model and shape things around it? It's not a rocket science but... BHVR ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's probably licensing though, but if they weren't locked, I'd have brought them by now.

Konami thinks that Cheryl wearing pants goes against her character imagine so really no hope for these 2

Honestly, locked sets are a "no buy" reason for me. Their loss, since mixing some cosmetics would be awesome.

I completely agree with sets not being linked. The glitch was the way to go back in the day cause once you glitched the outfit out it stayed that way. Now at least on ps4 you have do the glitch after every game. So not worth it. I understand License characters having Linked sets but not the Originals.

I don't buy sets unless they're Legendary (Changing the character completely), save for Alessa and Cheryl's Starting Over and Moving On cosmetics (Because I'm a huge fan of Silent Hill). I like mixing my cosmetics to create new outfits, not wearing the same 3 pieces over and over again.

Yun-Jin's blue set actually doesn't need to be locked at all. All the pieces work perfectly fine as standalone pieces esp the shorts and hair. The torso has slight clipping but they could just link the Torso to the shorts but not vice versa since the shorts n boots are easily some of the cutest outfits

100% agree, in that I love to mix and match.

Some heads / bodies I want real bad, but I don't like the rest of the setup.

New Nea skin - love her top, don't care much for the white hair or lower portion. So what gives?

    Financing, Texturing, and DLC.

    • I think we all understand when there are Legendary sets that change a lot about the character - especially if they are licensed. The Birch Hag skin is Legendary because it's a licensed character. Makes sense, Chris Redfield is a Legendary set because he has his own voice lines and everything - basically his own survivor. Makes sense. When licensing and other overhauls are concerned, it makes absolute sense to lock the options into Legendary sets.
    • Texturing can be an issue. When you have certain elements depend upon others, you can run into problems. You want a lower with a hood, but it can cause issues with most hair options? Your awesome new Jacket you just designed for a survivor clips through the neck of the base model and you need to hide that bit of the neck with a special model? Legendary Skin means it will look good and won't have those bad clipping issues.
    • Financing is another big one. Let's look at Cosmetics as a 3 way split pizza that the devs think is totally good. They work hard to make it look cool and slave over every inch before they put it up for a sale. What happens when people can mix and match? They may hate the pants... maybe, it turns out, people dont like the hat as much for some reason? Suddenly, the profit margins of the sales drop by over 60%. Behavior depends on sales to inflate their cheap initial game cost. Giving players the option to simply NOT buy a portion of the product can be reeling in many ways.

It's not always realistic to expect customization options with specialty crafted skins, licensing, and pricing. BHVR wants to make the game as good as they can, and it's hard to give everyone what they want.

You have to ask yourself "I might be okay with clipping issues in cosmetics, but does EVERYONE think that way?"

I want more individual customization options too, but its not always so easy.

The funny thing is, demo's cosmetics weren't locked despite him being licensed...

Im pretty sure by the posts in this forum alone, between having more customizable characters with minor clipping (which we rarely see in game because we're in motion) and all the bugs and glitches the actual game has, we'd rather have unlocked sets so that we can purchase the pieces we want, and fund the department responsible for fixing the actual game.
