Add the 2 Pride Flag charms to every account by default.
I think this would be a pretty nice move to have them both from the start. There are also people who might miss the notices about the redeem code options for said pride flag charms and thus wouldn’t know they were even obtainable, especially as time goes on and other game announcements will appear on top. Also there is no downside to this at all.

There would be people complaining about it and probably some would state they aren’t capable of playing the game anymore. It’s okay for the charms to be optional, the codes will never expire so if they see the charms and want them they can easily find out about the codes.

My point is the charms are currently optional and BHVR puts the decision in the hands of the player whether they want them or not. I don't see what's so wrong with that?

I’m not hearing a reason other than “bigots will cry” which is always a good thing. The only people who would have problems are those that actively don’t want it, not those who are not interested, since the latter wouldn’t care anyways.

To be fair, they would still remain to be optional to use and charms are being added through rifts either way so two charms more is really not that big of a deal..

That's the thing though, I'm seeing people throwing around the word bigot over a video game charm that BHVR has intentionally went out of their way to go "hey, it's here if you want it and it'll always be available"
The codes never expiring is proof of that.
I just don't think it's fair to say "lol if ur against the charms being default ur prolly just a bigot". While I'm positive that's true for some, it's silly to be so broad. I thought broad generalisations were a bad thing.

People who don’t care either way will not care about extra bonus charms they don’t even have to equip. People who actively don’t want the charms will complain. People who actively don’t want them have no actual excuse except bigotry.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current way BHVR is doing it.
If you want it, you can have it - whenever you want it.
If you don't, you don't have to.
I stand by this. BHVR put the choice into the players hands and it was completely the right decision.

It also makes it possible to track how many players have decided to redeem the code, and thus how many LGBT+ supporting players there are, which I'm sure has gone some way to convincing management to improve representation, e.g. David and more.

Because bigots shouldn't get a say in inclusivity. The current method BHVR is doing it is not that inclusive, given it gives the option to actively refuse it. You gonna give a reason or are you going to quit pretending you have any excuses? Should be so easy to give a reason right? Given how obsessively you are defending the ability to actively deny it.

Plus, I find being able to redeem a code adds a layer of illusory exclusivity that makes it seem more prominent and 'special'.
By reducing the charms to bog standard default charms, you lose more than you gain.

I never said anything about being a bigot, I just said it isn't even an important choice lol it is literally a charm, you aren't forced to wear it, just like you aren't forced with the large variety of other free charms given out.
I am not calling you a bigot whatsoever, but the argument standing you are taking does look bad. It is just a discussion asking for something that should've just been base (as many games have things like even country flags as base), it isn't a fight against freedom of choice lmao it is helping players in the future from getting something they want without having to dig up codes.

I think BHVRs way of doing it is perfectly fine, that's all I have to say since you're clearly very set in your ways, refuse to see anyone else's point of view or think I'm a bigot for simply thinking putting a choice in the player's hands is a respectable one, not something to be changed.

Some of it is time and acceptance, the other part is the perceived notion of aggression within the community.

They come out with the Christian flag cosmetic. Redeemable code for all of the Christian players out there who want to show their pride!
Okay, whatever, it doesn't effect anyone - nobody should be complaining about it. We should all accept each other's differences and enjoy the game.
Besides, nobody is forcing you to download it. It is purely elective.
Some people may feel uncomfortable with the Christian flag and may have issues with it being in the game.

Some people are not ready to accept something like that, they just aren't in the proper head space. While you can argue "wow, these people are completely intolerant of other's lifestyles, they SHOULD leave!" but in the end, this is a game. There's no reason people should feel uncomfortable or made to leave over something so political. This is the place to get away from such things. If they want to keep it sterile from outside influences, ideals, or insinuations - that's up to them. Trying to push people to leave the game because of ideological differences is regressive for the community.
On top of it all, if BHVR chose to put the Christian flag in everyone's inventory in spite of everything, it could be seen as aggression to some - as if they are trying to force a particular worldview on others. In truth, it's just a pin, it's no big deal, but it's just not a very smart thing to do.
The LGBT+ community is not in business to hunt down those who disagree and force them into darkness. The LGBT+ community is about acceptance, not about closed minded ignorance and hatred. Speaking against those who have differing worldviews or ideals is completely against what the community has worked so hard to build over the years.
We, as a community, should not seek to punish others for their ideological differences.
We, as a community, should not ask the developers to 'pick a side' and force players into receiving things they may not yet be ready to accept.

Well this certainly feels like the most dishonest post I've read today. So tell me again why you want people who don't want these charms... to have these charms? Because a few people might never know about the claim codes? They are better left optional. Its Ok if a few people somehow don't end up getting them because they didn't know about them. Besides I'm sure they aren't limited time things. If they are then thats their problem.

I hope one day they add a Christian cross charm to DBD for representation and give everyone the choice of whether they want it or not. You'll never see me here demanding everyone be forced to have it.

You really want people who want these charms to have to contact BHVR's support to get them? Because that's what happens when BHVR adds something new to their "default" cosmetics in the game.
BHVR made it so that some old event cosmetics were available to everyone by default. Then, people who purchased the game after that happened came onto the forums saying, "Hey, I wish I had access to these cosmetics, BHVR should make them available to everyone." Hopefully they discovered that they were indeed supposed to have them (a lot of people don't know this), and then they had to contact support to get them. I had to contact support to get them when I got the game on a new platform. It's not difficult, but it'd be so much easier to just put a code in.
BHVR releasing the Death Garden masks to everyone was a mess. Certain platforms got them correctly, others didn't, I contacted support and was told I wasn't supposed to have them at all because apparently that support staffer didn't read the memo.
A code is way easier than contacting support. If you think that the charms would get added to the game as default charms and work properly, then I dunno what to say. BHVR just needs a permanent page on their site with a list of always usable codes.
Edit: I said contacting support wasn't difficult, but I guess it'd be more correct to say it wasn't difficult for me. The average player does not know how to contact support, and it requires an account to do so.

I think having it as an optional code that never expires is the correct move. I myself have gay friends, but I respect people having options and choices.

Thing is, religion is an acceptable target because most religions are oftentimes anti-LGBT and anti-women, and holy books have verses that say this. Not to mention that it's a choice to be religious, being LGBT isn't an choice.
I can understand what you mean by representation, but because religion is, at it's core, not compatible of first world ideology, then it will not be accepted by first world society at large.
