Pinhead - Chain hunt preventing survivor from solving puzzle box?
In my most recent game against a Pinhead, there were two instances when I tried to solve the puzzle box during an active chain hunt, and I could not do so because the chains kept interrupting me. I seem to remember reading a patch note about chain hunts no longer attacking survivors while they solved the puzzle box. Am I misremembering this?
Just checking to see if this is a bug before I make a report.
Thanks!

As far as I know thats how it is. Ur supposed to solve the puzzle before the chain hunt starts

Normally the chain hunt shouldn't affect the box holder UNLESS you hold it for a long period of time then you will get harassed by chains for holding the box hostage until you drop it for another survivor.

It's something that really needs to change. Insanely annoying when you're trying to solve the box for 30+ seconds because you keep getting interrupted

Chains spawn on waves for the holder. You have enough time to solve the box between waves, but if you take too long to start or miss a skill check, you will be interrupted and will have to wait until the next wave ends.
Also, you have plenty time after picking the box to find a good spot and solve it. Don't pick the box unless you're ready to solve it.

This was in the 5.4.0 patchnotes (Artist release); I assume this is what you were thinking of.

No. You just have to start solving at the right time. If you are too late then it will hit you.

chain hunt causes chains to spawn in waves of 3, dodge the chains and start solving

We really need dev clarification on this. Don’t think I’ve seen one mod reply whenever it’s brought up on the forums - which is quite often.

I thought if u hit the first skill check with the box the chains won't attack you for the rest of the solving

Yeah. There’s already a bug report on it and it’s been there for a while but they haven’t said anything there either.

Well, you are supposed to do the box before the chain hunt starts, but if it's already too late: the box spawns chains in waves. One wave spawns 3 chains. After that, there is a window in which you can solve it without being interrupted.

I don't mind the chains stopping me from solving it, after all the chain hunt is supposed to slow down survivors ability to do things.
I would however like the progress on solving the box not to reset every time a chain hits you. If you got to 50% progress, chain hits and stops you, it should still be at 50% once you start solving again.
I still have far too many matches when the other survivors never touch the box so I have to run from one end of the map to the other to get it.

That'd allow you to 99% the box and do it in the Killer's face, putting it on a ~90 (?) second cooldown

Well if they changed it to the chains continuing whilst the box is being carried, 99ing will still be detrimental to the entire team. Maybe if it decayed one charge per second then.

It wouldn't be detrimental at all, the chains only affect the box carrier.
No, the box should restart whenever someone stops solving it, otherwise, you might aswell remove Pinhead's ability to pick it up

I said change it to the chains continuing whilst the box is carried. Therefore hitting the entire team until the box is solved therefore once again being detrimental to the team.

In that case, I think it'd be fine, but I don't see a reason to change the current version of the Lament Configuration.
EDIT: Wait, no, 99%'ing the box would ruin it

I feel like I'm losing my mind reading these replies. Has anyone played against Pinhead? The chains spawn one at a time on the box holder if the Chain Hunt has started. It's still bugged. I've had to give up before on the box because I got interrupted for a minute straight.

Yeah its still bugged.
Maybe the devs will fix it in 5 years.

Another SWF advantage and then the Solo-Q gameplay mechanic is DISASTER.

I read survivors can't drop the box once they pick it up. Can't remember if this is true though.

Another one of those wonderful reasons to enjoy facing Pinhead. /s
