Playing (solo) survivor can be the most crushing thing ever
"Winning" as a survivor team is such a hard thing to do. A killer only needs to get 4 hooks to tie a game. I just played a game with a pretty bad killer that tunneled one guy out and then downed me once at the end game and camped so I was forced to die. He only got 4 hooks the entire game and he just tied even though our skill was not even close to each other.
I started a Bubba challenge where I tried my hardest not to lose and went 20 games in a row where I never lost. I either won or tied. It got so boring too, all I did was down somebody relatively early, camp then to death, and then down a second person and that was it.
Killers are not playing for 12 hooks or even 8 hooks. You just have to down 2 people and you can never lose. It really is crushing as a survivor.

You are talking as if the fact killers can tie with survivor is what makes you hurt, and I feel that is weird as what survivors has to care from game design perspective is whether they as individual survived or not and not how they did as a team.

Well that's how MMR works, a 3K and above makes you move up but a 2K is a "tie". Even on an individual survivor basis did I really deserve to die because I went down once in the entire game running to the exit gate? If what it takes to escape is not going down once then that is extremely brutal game design.

But you have no reason to care about how MMR changed for opponent, hell, you may even not want to care about MMR for yours, they are intentionally hidden after all.

So there are multiple win conditions? The killer is playing an entirely different game from the survivors? The killer has to play the game trying to get the most kills but survivors are playing selfishly and only getting themselves out.
So if we should be treating the game that way isn't it an advantage to killers because survivors should be prioritizing themselves and not helping their other survivors off the hook and stuff.

Yes, if you want to "win" as survivor, you should always prioritize themselves over others, nothing strange because survival of other players doesn't matter.
Ultimately there is plenty situations that helping others does more benefit than harm, so it doesn't really benefit the killer either.
And then this game doesn't really have "win" or anything, MMR is not a win condition.

You may need to play at higher MMR because killers can get 8000 in 3 emblems, 3k, with over 24k points, and still not pip.

However, survs can do a couple gens, get an unhook, die and pip

Pipping has nothing to do with MMR. earning bloodpoints has nothing to do with your rank.

That's how this game works. The point is that with camping and tunneling available you can tie a game with 2 downs every single time. That's just how the nature of the game is, you don't have to get 12 hooks in fact you shouldn't.
if my team getting 2 downs results in a tie and that was "extremely bad" this game is #########.

No... Pips are not the win condition anymore. It's only based on wins now, if you get 3 or 4 kills your MMR goes up.
Your colored rank or grade is not used for matchmaking and is now just a number that does nothing.

You raise your MMR by pipping up and "winning."

Wins/Kills/Pips are all tied together.
You cant have one without the other.
Fact remains the game has a win condition in the game based on pips. You can try and spin it how you want, but "Entity Displeased" has and will always be a loss. 3k means you did good. So yes you rank up, and you pip. You used the term "winning" raising MMR is not a win, 2k is not a win, pipping is.

Playing Survivor for me is the opposite. Its always fun, and I never care what happens. I die all the time doing altruistic things to get others out, don't care.
Whereas playing killer I actually have to be in a mindset for because some days it can be really ######### stressful trying to manage four survivors spread out across multiple generators, always being ready to be on top of my flashlight avoiding game, losing games sometimes just because I choose not to go after the same person twice if I just happen upon them after they've been unhooked last, only to see the person I let live teabag me on the way out, and then get trash talked in the post game chat like if I don't just automatically 4k every game I'm a "trash killer" or I get accused of camping and tunneling when I specifically *do not*.

MMR is not a win condition. It's kept hidden for a reason. It offers you no reward whatsoever.
Raising your MMR just means you get matched with other players who have raised their MMR. It doesn't mean that you or those playes are better, or that you have progressed in any way. You can increase you MMR without doing anything (hide and escape) and you can reduce it intentionally.
You do not know the MMR of your teammates/opponent, especially if you've been queuing a significant amount of time.
Also a 2K isn't necessary a 'tie' nor is a 3K necessarily a 'win' according to MMR. MMR increases or decreases relative to the difference between yours and your opponents MMRs. Depending on the discrepancy between themn a 2K could potentially increase your MMR or at the other end of the scale, a 3K might not.
Plus hatches are MMR neutral. 2K a hatch escape = increased MMR.
Pips and Grades ARE a win condition. They do offer you a reward, in the form of a monthly bloodpoint bonus. They're tangible, you can track your progress and you can share your grade with others for bragging rights, etc.

Don't listen to survs about Legion.
If you are running up to an injured surv, I cancel too. They are used to getitng deepwounded and running off, no, cancel and down them. Don't give them the speed boost.
Only noob Legions dont cancel.

Current SBMM is apparently based on kills, not hooks, for killers. So to get a higher MMR, killers really do only need to aim for 4 hooks. They can camp said hook/s until the person dies. For a killer trying to get into high MMR they probably see no reason to sweat for the 12 hooks.

Ok so what you're saying is that there essentially is no win condition at all. There is no incentive to get better, no incentive to play against better players, no reason to get kills, no reason to escape, nothing. Just play as legion and run around the map to get as many hits as possible and then let them all escape to make your MMR go down but you still pip up. Peak dbd right there.

I mean if that's what you want to do, sure. This game's nebulous win conditions are notorious. If your win condition is memeing about and letting everyone escape then who am I to judge?
Pretty sure I said pips and grades are a win condition though, and they require you to actually play the game and try to complete your objectives.
Don't think you're going to pip up without a single kill btw. You can max out Brutality and Deviousness but with nothing in Sacrifice you're not going far.

Well then when I got grade 1 for the first time when I had 80 hours I was among the best players in the game. I have 2000 hours now but I'm the exact same as I was when I was at 80 3 years ago.

Ok lets assume there is some kind of MMR in this game and cause of a miracle it's also working as intended - why, just why would you want so desperately to "win" a killer game by the dev standard (3k+ is a win, nothing else counts) and rank up you MMR just to be matched with more and more experienced survivors when you already struggle now? It just makes NO sense!
I only play for pips. A black pip is a tie, +1 or 2 a win, a de-pip a loss. Those are also the things that let me rank up in the grade system which nets you 2million in total for reaching iridescent 1 on both sides.
Why should I care about "winning" on either side once I reached iri 1 on the said role? LOL I like to go for meme builds once I reached rank 1, just to actually have fun in this game. I die early on or get ######### on by survivors? Who cares? I am still pretty convinced there is no MMR so it won't effect anything. For example: sometimes I "lose" 1 game against a swat squad (0k or 1k) and the very next game I get 4 ppl who have no clue what they are doing and die with 4 or 5 gens left. Same goes for survivor. I escape a few games in a row and then suddenly I get 3 people who only hide, do no gens or unhooks and can't run the killer for longer than 5 seconds.
Tl:dr: just play for fun.Tryhard if you have to - for example to reach iri 1 if you want those sweet, sweet bloodpoints but other than that just try to enjoy the game by your own rules.

Soloq is in one of the worst state for the last 2-3 years easily and has only some chances to win against weak killer player. BHVR has been ignoring survivors feedback for too long, pumping killer power fantasy while ignoring core issues with the game and balance because "killer is stressfull" narrative

It's that the MMR working? If 1 to 2 kills is the best they can do at the moment then they don't need to be getting higher MMR and this is a good spot for them to be at until they learn the game more and get better, then once getting 1 to 2 kills is consistently easy and getting 3 kills starting becoming normal, their MMR will go up and the average skill of their survivors will increase.

You won't pip if they all escape, not sure why its so hard for you to understand buit it shows you have never played killer to red grade thats for sure if you think you can have 4 escapes and still pip.

That is a very valid opinion because that is how this game works. If you want to just not care about "winning" and create your own win condition to use meme builds then that's fine. I think it's a problem that there is no official win condition because then why even play the game at all? I play competitive multiplayer games in an attempt to win because that's how a competition works.
If this game was Minecraft I would be fine with no win condition but this is a game in which you try to compete against other players so it's ridiculous to tell people to just create your own win condition to have fun.
Ok well if I can create my own win condition then if I unhook 1 person I win. You can't say it's wrong because there is no official win.

I sometimes do that when I run WGLF. If I get 4 stacks, I won. Or if I run Deliverance + DS. If I managed to use both in a match, I won. Srsly if all I would care about was escaping or 4king, I would have probably uninstalled a LONG time ago. The game is just not fun to play that way for a longer timespan (in my opinion).

They are there just to separate seriously sweaty players to less sweaty players, which barely works but still works.
Don't fool you by believing MMR has anything to do with your gameplay, they are only meant to help with matchmaking and NEVER meant to dictate how you play.

The game goes by the trope: "do well but not perfect" for its scoring system if you kill everyone in the first 2 minutes because they would suicide dive onto the hook you technically won but by the games "logic" you didn't get enough points for it to count because chases were non-existent or you weren't devious enough.
If you count 3+k as a win then you won.

in your case survivors also did m1 and spacebar entire game
two people dropped their mmr and two raised their mmr, no problem there
giving m1 killers more than 6hooks before egc is skill or map issue
if thats stably doable camp as most characters may not allowed since long ago,
