Fixing cheating costs time and money

    Therefore, no fixing cheating

There's no such thing as "fixing cheating".

You can’t fix cheating, in the words of the devs, “it’s a arms race”, every time someone updates the anti cheat, it gets cracked within at most a day, which leads to another anti cheat update, which leads to it getting cracked, rinse and repeat until the heat death of the universe

The game doesn't have to be "competitive enough" to warrant a good anti-cheat software

Cheating will never be fixed, its a core element of the game.

Today I had two obvious cheaters.

One was a cheating bot that even advertised their cheat-website in post game chat via auto generated message and the 2nd one was a Trapper with perma wallhack. I don't even wanna know how many subtile cheaters there are at this point.

I'm bringing this topic back because there's been an influx of cheaters in the last 2 weeks, and if I'd have to DC every time that happened I'd get penalised for 24 hours.

Is there even any word on whether or not BHVR is looking into this?

They're always looking into it, even games like Valorant, that install a literal rootkit to prevent cheaters still has cheaters in it.

One way to fix cheating would have servers checking basic data like speed, perk frequency, perk change, EGC duration, ...

I can't wrap my head around how the EGC can "not end" and some creep can take the game hostage. (cfr CoconutRTS matches)

As a side note, their anti-cheat isn't more efficient than the competition. (As numbers indicate.)

If you have a good reporting system and record game logs, you don't even need a crazy coded system to catch them. Let the player base do it for you, problem with this game is subtle hackers, it is very hard to tell if someone is only wall hacking.

Best way is that BHVR starts to queue cheaters into same lobbies. There are couple of games that does that. And it's funny to read in the forums when these cheaters themselves start to whine because they get cheaters all the time.

IDK what system they're using but it is clearly lacking hard. These people I get paired up with aren't even subtle hackers. They're obnoxious and in your face about it and in end-game chat. From getting pulled into several matches with 2 killers, all gens popping after spawning into a map to being held hostage in the game to be hooked/unhooked nonstop.

And it's very frustrating because I'd gotten out of lower MMR hell, and now I'm probably dropped back into it.

I've never seen anyone cheat on dbd... that I know of. In what ways do people cheat on dbd?

I was playing Wraith and could barely keep up with a Steve while cloaked.

I was playing Myers and a Bill I had just downed teleported across the map.

My son was playing Demigorgon and the team of two cheaters he was facing had infinite dead hard, and when they accidently ran into a wall with it and were downed they couldn't be hooked.

    and about a dozen more...

We took video of all of it, and reported them with video evidence. It has calmed down a lot since then, but the huge leap in cheaters was caused by DbD being totally free for a while so cheaters make a million accounts and when they are found they just use a new account and start over. I think it was recently free again so be prepared to run into them all over.

Don't know why they can't detect cheating in game. I guess it mostly comes down to not being able to tell who is doing the cheating as others can cheat for you. Wish cheaters would just be put in their own lobby and face other cheaters. Otherwise they'll just get a new account.

The odds of cheating getting fixed in the game are as likely as the odds of them reworking Nemesis so he's not too OP and that will never happen.

They usually play on highest mmr, they not last long tho. They changing nicknames every match, you can spot it if they play through steam.

There is "Blatant cheaters" and "Subtle cheater".

Blatant is not really serious or making any danger, you just sitting with them through match watching them freak out your game. F around with them or even maybe having fun till they got bored and let you go. Or you just dc.

The most dangerous is subtle cheaters which I personally HATE.

These guys trying so hard to hide their exploits and making the (let's say killer) think that, he's just facing a really good survivor. They're complete pretenders and jurks, whenever they feel like about to go down, they will bump their speed (just to point of killer speed), to reach something unreachable without exploits to make killer feel bad of himself. They usually will repair a gen (a little faster). They actually moving way faster, when you're not looking at them. They probably have endless stuff (med-kits, flashlight etc). They are actually making killer paranoid so much that next matches he will think of subtle cheaters even more and acuse more ppl of cheating coz of this paranoid... When they do get cought on hacking\cheating, they usually say - "get gud", you're just bad, I'm not cheating, ez killer, and other disgusting stuff.

I really HATE these kinds of cheaters (they're not players for me), and I do really want them to dissapear from this game. I hope...

Usually I get blatant ones, but I'm not sure how many subtle cheaters I get... They are the reason, I'll acuse someone of cheating out of nowhere, when the match was weird to me... Yes I'm paranoid.
