(Hot Take) If BHVR goes through with the updated HUD to help solo queue...
(before I go on with this, this isn't really a complaining post where killers will be bad, as most killers do get a significant advantage off of miscommunication and the existence of SWF makes this very inconsistent and this isn't really related to killer compensation and haven't thought through of what a good change may be for them)
Hot Take
If BHVR goes through with the updated HUD to help solo queue, this will likely result in a lot less use/value of aura reading perks, and to generate some use out of aura reading if this dopes happen. BHVR should add a 5th unique perk slot that is exclusive to teammate aura reading perks and has it's additional benefits disabled. For example, the perk kindred would only show teammates auras, not the killers aura. Or not giving the haste status affect when using the perk blood pact. I think a change like this would help make aura builds a little more viable without breaking everything and help create a more consistent communication between solo queue survivors.
Why do I think this? Well, after playing numerous killer and survivor games I've found that much of the killer roster, like new Legion and Trapper, or stealth killers like Ghostface get their greatest power spike off of lack of communication. A SWF can easily communicate that Ghostface stopped following them, or that Legion is in frenzy and to spread out accordingly. Making their powers feel incredibly inconsistent to use and makes them perform significantly well against solo queue and terrible to play against SWFs. This would help in the long term to make killer balancing a lot easier and make their kill rates a lot more consistent.
And yes, I understand that this sort of update will squash killers if they go through with it, but unfortunately I'm not a professional game designer and don't know what would be a good compensation for killers (maybe a core change to killers who only have M1 as a lethality move?). I would be willing to suffer through this change in order to make killers more consistent in the future though. What are your thoughts on a change like this?

yes, exactly what I thought. With this you can somewhat customize your survivor to accommodate for the kind of build you plan on doing

Additional buffs for survivors under the pretext of trying to help Solo queue? It's more likely than you might think!
You see, they have to buff Solo FIRST, with oh let's say a hook meter everyone can see. Then, SWF get the exact same benefits and continue to play better, so they need to buff Solo AGAIN by adding tons of god pallets to every map. And, well wouldn't you know it, solo survival rates are still just not quite at SWF levels, so we're going to need ANOTHER buff with some free status icons.
They'll worry about buffing killer in compensation once that difference between the two vanishes.
You know: never.

Yes, but that is good. We want the game to be good to play and then balance that. So, lets see how the game evolves from those HUD changes and then see changes to Killers after that. This is how games that evolve over time has to work, there is no other way.

Aura reading perks will still be useful. Just because you know someone is getting chased or is injured that doesn't mean you'll know where they are.
I think that more info for survivors is great for both sides. We could see killers getting more buffs now that they can't clean sweep a solo queue team.

I have developed many opinions, often starting out with a very basic concepts that change overtime as I play the game more, either by playing against said perks or using said perks.
for example, I still think Boon totems need a core change to them, snuffing it out as killer isn't enough. so why not make it so that every time a killer snuffs a totem location, it takes longer to bless that specific totem? make it stack as well to discourage blessing the same totem and keep the killer guessing and not create those extremely irritating boon locations like the top of the RPD library. Maybe even after so many snuffs it should destroy the totem.

They will be, but I think they see a lot less usage after a change this big. I rarely see aura perks in actual use when you can just take meta perks to increase your chase time or survivability. and I also think this would also help BHVR when it comes to marketing DLC that offers a survivor with aura reading to help the team.

Honestly considering that the “meta” for survivors is composed of DS/BT/DH/IW , 2 of those perks are a result of Camping and Tunneling. Two playstyles that outside of being boring are also problematic for the game with Camping being flat out cheesed out by certain killers. Makes the whole argument surrounding the lack usage of other perks useless. Because nothing is changing on that front.
Many times I have brought more “fun” builds only to be met with getting face camped. So my next move is to go for what will AT LEAST buy me a little bit of time. DS and BT.
I think it is important to note this because it is literally defining the core of the game. When it should be more about chases and patrolling gens for killers. Not standing at a hook at 5 gens up.

I agree, as much as I do hate Decisive Strike and Borrowed time, the reason it's there to begin with is due to the unhealthy playstyles of camping and tunneling. Killers like Bubba excel at doing this and there should be some core changes to encourage chasing more than the tunnel or camp strat that SBMM currently supports.

My idea for the boons is to give them the Built To Last treatment: each time a surv reblesses their boon wherever, it is like a third (we can play with that number) less effective in range and effect. I feel it makes the effort to snuff them out more worth it.

It's going to be way stronger than people give it credit for, in solo and group.

Depending on how exactly the devs implement the solo queue changes, I think aura reading perks will still be useful for giving more detailed information. For example you might see in the HUD that someone is on a gen, but you don't necessarily know which gen it is. I don't think adding a 5th perk slot dedicated to aura reading is necessary.

I don't see a need for survivors to get another perk slot just because aura reading perks might be used less with the hud update.

Personal, I would prefer aura reading be as a niche; for a 5th perk slot. And make Exhaustion perks be more likely to have a 5th perk slot; do the amount everyone uses.
Ans even then, Aura reading perks is nice and improved situation awareness; you do not exactly need to them to make educated guess and assumptions on the state of the game in match. If newer players Learn to pay close attention to the killer in the distance, the obsession icon and injuries/hook status that follows, and also strange stuff like no injures or downs for quite some time. They could learn bit better about Game State and how well their teams is doing or even the killer is.
But of course, when the Devs do well in buffing Solo Que to be on par with SWF; me and other killers players also have expectations for needed buffs and some small nerfs to our killer roster; so that they are very capable of winning by skilled player. I understand New players might not win as killers all the time; but I expect any average players to at least ve capable of making good plays and some wins.

These HUD changes wont affect the gameplay much. I ran kindred the past month to "help" my teammates. It didnt change anything oh how those people play, cause theyre bad players. Some Icons dont change how good players are. They dont make them better in choosing what to do if not even kindred help at all.

Yep
Suggesting a fifth perk slot for survivors is quite the hot take. Regardless of how stripped down you try to make it.

Cough cough you know your buff idea includes nurse but excludes pig and trapper right?

What I like about your idea is a perk slot dedicated for one type of perk. That could be done with every perk slot so that you can't stack second chance perks or gen slowdown and then you could very well add a fifth slot for killer and survivor.
Exhaustion perks are a good example for that. Sure you can have four exhaustion perks but you can just use one at a time so it would make sense

I triple dog dare all of you to play solo queue survivor for a month straight.

Hot take, aura reading perks are already pretty useless to begin with. As are 90% of the perks in the game. Maybe just rebalancing perks would go a longer way than change for the sake of change.
