Devs, do BBQ and Ruin really need to change?
Devs, do these perks really need a rework? I mean they're the two most helpful perks for the game and also not that overpowered.
Ruin Pro: Helps stop the game from going too fast.
Ruin Con: Lucky to last the first few minutes before being broken.
BBQ Pro: Helps killers see where to go next rather than camp the hooked survivor
BBQ Con: Can be countered by being close to the hooked survivor or hiding in a locker
They're both healthy for the game and counter-able, Ruin doesn't last long and BBQ only shows the next path, they're not that harmful for survivors, so I'm a bit concerned what changes you could make to these two perks., making them weaker could render them useless and could through the game into a more toxic state than it already is.

Doomposting already? this is going to be a loooooong summer before the update hits.

Well if their goal is to change the meta, you need to change meta perks. Not changing meta perks... would result in no change in the meta. Unless for you "meta" only means survivor meta. And I don't think what you want is for killers to keep all their meta, but change the survivors only, right?

BBQ just doesn't make sense for a change. I just don't see it.

I don't know what Doomposting is, I'm just voicing my concerns

Its just those two perks I'm concerned about, I run them for almost every killer. It keeps the match longer and shows me where to go so i don't have to camp like a noob

One Thread was not enough?
The goal is to create more variety. I guess the main reason why the Devs are doing that is because we have around 200 Perks, but only a fraction of those is actually used.
I would not really consider Ruin healthy, especially with some Killer Additions, it is at least as strong as old Ruin and 10 times more annoying. And BBQ... Well, my biggest gripe with BBQ is that it should be an incentive to not tunnel, but is really bad it it, considering a Killer can tunnel and still get their 4 Stacks of BBQ. BUT with the rework of the Grind, BBQ should really become less of a staple.
I mean, if a new Killer releases, I dont have to get their Perks on the other almost 30 Killers (which is 5 Bloodwebs each, if I am not mistaken), I only have to get this particular Killer to P3 to get their Perks on all my other Killers. And on the other side, I only need to get the Perks of the new Killer and the general Perks on the new Killer. This is a massive reduction.

Both sides will complain until we see changes. I hope they really understand why people needed those meta perks and fixed those issues.
Maybe they will remove BP stacks from perk and add killer base-kits? We don't know what are they gonna do

BBQ will probably be cut off one of its effects. The aura read alone is really convenient for most players, and the BP gain is just too much in combination. I wouldnt be surprised if they took off the BP gain and gave it to a perk thats already more useless than anything else.

I'm sure you have a lot of reasons to keep those perks. Just like survivors have a lot of reasons to use their deadhards, DS, BT... they did say they'd implement base kit mechanics. We'll have to wait and see.

If you want to shake up the meta then yes.

I do consider Ruin healthy.
Without it Gens would go off every few minutes
Faster gens means more pressure for the killer
More pressure means the killer will become more desperate for results
And when the killer becomes more desperate, they camp and tunnel even more.
The issue is the gens go too fast and killers need some kind of advantage. Survivors have advantages that go through the roof, killers need to actually work for results, and work requires time, which survivors rarely provide.

Ruin...might need a look, as regression as a whole is getting nerfed (HOPEFULLY in conjunction to some base generator speed changes). It's a perk that experienced players deal with fine, but newer players get completely dominated by - and is also ridiculously RNG.
I have no idea why BBQ is getting changed - but I'm hopeful that this has to do with the fact that it's so incredibly common due to the BP bonus (the aura reading is niche, at best). If I was going to be optimistic, I'd guess that the BP effects will be baked in baseline to all killers, as it does encourage a bit less of a tunnelly playstyle.

Most survivors run those perks because they want to be toxic, i don't run those perks and i survive fine, which proves you don't need them to survive.

Their approach seems to be addressing the ENTIRETY of the meta for both sides. In order to do that, these perks have to be included.
Do I think this is the best choice? Not really. I think the meta bandaids a lot of other gameplay issues. But at least they're looking at everything.

If we want the meta to change then yes (mind you if bbq didn’t have bp I doubt it would be up there)

This is how I would change BBQ.
The BP stacking effect is only active once you leave the hook OR you damage another survivor while the hooked survivor is still alive.
If you camp someone to death and you do not injure another survivor, you forfeit the stack.
Everything else stays, just promotes healthier gameplay.
Ruin...I don't know how you'd change ruin, besides making a lesser version of it basekit and having the Hex boost it. Im a totem b*tch so I look out for Ruin anyways, I dont particularly think it outshines everything else unless the killer is provided so much pressure that there is no time to search for the totem.

Doomposting is making posts about an inminent doom or catastrophe about befall, in games it refers to the act of starting threads to express concern about changes we dont know a single thing about, they literally said nothing except "we are going to do a mass rebalance because the meta is extremely stale and we are looking into why the meta perks are picked and do minor tweaking".
We dont even know what they are going to do with BBQ or Ruin not even the base game, maybe they nerf them but make base gen regression stronger, maybe they get rid of BBQ point stack and make it basekit we literally dont know a single thing but it wont stop an horde of people making threads to complain about the unknown.
P.D. BBQ is going to be pretty much pointless after the grind reduction hits, if you dont need a trillion BPs the point stacking becomes a bit redundant, either they change it or it ¡disappears entirely in favour of other, more solid detection perks because as far as detection goes, BBQ is one of the worst unless you play a Killer with a teleport or a massive amount of mobility, even then Thrilling Tremors is better anyway.
