constant DCs
Recently got back into teh game after having not played since last july.
Been struggling with the new matchmaking and getting games against survivors that aren't significantly better at the game than I am.
Every game I've done half well at someone DCs on death hook, usually the first one to die. I don't tunnel them or camp I chase, hook, got to the other side of the map to patrol gens. Yet they DC as if I tunneled them.
Not really sure why it's happening so much more than when I used to play.

This game breaks people mentally. Take solace that they get a small break from the horror

Survivors gonna survive... By any means necessary. You didn't kill them if they DC. Or at least that is what they believe.

The DCs on death hook are some of the most hilarious. ‘I’m gonna stick it to this killer by undoing all my earned points this match, and getting a timeout penalty!’

It's never been about how you play. Poor sportsmanship is about the poor sport looking for an excuse to act immature. You could be squeaky clean and it will still happen.

Some killers just elicit a DC more than others. If I hear the Pinhead box sound effect at the start of the match I pretty much brace for the first person to go down to DC. Same with Blight and Nurse. Spirit too. I can't play with headphones for various reasons, so I absolutely suck with Spirit, but if my first down is super quick, I very often get a DC.

This is one of the funniest things, makes absolutely no sense. I think 99.9% of DCs are BS, but for early match ones I can at least see the thought process.
DCing as you are hooked for the 3rd time is just senseless. Yeah, you still lost, you're still dead, the killer still beat you, AND now you have absolutely nothing to show for your last 10 minutes (not including the time you waited in queue before the match), and now you have a penalty.
At least it doesn't screw your teammates like other DCs, I guess.

Get that with bubba if your fist down is with the saw they tend to DC. Same with gen grabs on myers/ghostface.

I rarely use Bubba, but I often get a DC or two as soon as they hear the chainsaw. But it can be any killer; I had someone DC against me while using Trapper last night.
Reality is that some people will DC as soon as they realize their expectation for match isn't going to be met, for whatever reason.
It's selfish and pathetic, but it is what it is, and will continue to happen until they dial up the penalty.

Dad DCs on pretty much every killer I've played since yesterday, Doctor, Huntress,Trapper, Bubba, Ghost Face.
Penalties should be closer to 30 minutes honestly. The current penalty is about the time I take between matches to have a break anyway. So wouldn't be detrimental in any way. It's getting ridiculous at this point where every game is either up against far higher skilled plaers or DCs because I actually manage to do alright. Not really encouraging for any kind of more layed back gameplay.

The one that gets me most is *Downed but not been hooked once yet*
disconnects
Like, seriously what is all that about?

30 minutes seems fair especially considering someone may legitimately have an IRL issue they have to deal with and DC while it might give someone pause if they are disconnecting for the memes.

I think the first DC should remain at 5 min, because anything can happen.
But after the first the penalty, the subsequent penalties should increase sharply. Like 5 min for the first, 60 minutes for the second, 24h for the 3rd.
For habitual offenders (people who DC multiple times per play session consistently), longer and ultimately permanent bans should be on the table.

No. Instead of asking for harsher penalties, they need to fix the reason why people DC in the first place.
For example: if you play soloq and get camped/tunneled multiple games in a row while you watch your team not doing anything it just builds up frustration.
2 -
People DC even if they aren't camped or tunneled. They'll literally DC if you down them earlier than they want.
5 -
Trolls is wat they are. They want to Troll u and make ur game miserable. When u down them they realize they can't. So they dc

If you get that frustrated, finish your match and stop playing the game for the day, don't DC. You're just screwing your teammates over. Camping and tunneling aren't going anywhere, unfortunately. There just aren't good viable solutions to prevent them.
And really, you're going to get people who are going to DC whenever the match takes a turn they don't like, regardless.
At the end of the day, and it sounds crappy, but if the game frustrates you enough that you rage quit with any frequency, maybe taking a step back from it is the best course of action. Don't punish those making the best of it because you personally are fed up.

I remember trying out bubba for the first time years ago and while I was carrying a surv to the basement they dc'ed. I got a message afterwards "nice try".
It was funny as hell.

Oh, I don't DC myself because of things like that (if anything I will suicide on hook if I see the match won't go anywhere). I just tried to explain why some people DC.

I don't DC, but I suicide on hook if the killer is a nurse.

As others have said, the DC's on death hook are the most ridiculous. Normally, I laugh at those, since there's nothing hurting me by a survivor doing it. But tonight, I had the Rift challenge from the very first one where you need to sacrifice 4 people in the basement, simply because I'd never done it, and all of my other killer challenges are pretty much finished. I was on the Grim Pantry as Trapper, but not running a basement build. Got a few hooks spread out evenly, then got someone down near the basement of the main building. Two separate people stepped into traps going for a rescue while I was across the map (I was running Honing Stone, so they went into the dying state). I ended up with three people basement hooked and downed the 4th shortly afterwards. Bringing them to the basement, they DC'ed right before I could get them on a hook.
No one was tunneled, no one was camped. The match played out as "fairly" as one could expect as a survivor. The team simply made crucial mistakes and were careless heading into the main building, and that helped me to snowball, but because someone rage-quit out of immaturity, I didn't get the challenge done, which was frustating. It's a good reason why having a bot to take the place of a player that DC's would be a nice change, to keep people like that last survivor from costing other people challenges or achievements.

And then you wonder why you arent getting any better vs nurse <3

That seems like an absolute pain. Should keep their "body" in game if you're carrying them honestly, so that you can still hook them. But this would be a bit broken if they weren't on death hook but then again fair to an extent as to where it only keeps them in game if you're carrying them. If you drop them it removes them from the game, and if they DC any other time it just DCs as normal.
But really the penalty times need to be higher as it's been getting far too common recently from my experience at least.

Had one DC last night after a long 15+ minute match where I had them 3genned. Dude sat through entire match until I downed him at end, then DC.
LOL
