The perk reworks is the perfect time to increase base FOV

Dead by Daylight's FOV is measured at 87 degrees, but anyone who's played any FPS games with 90 FOV can tell this measurement is off. This is because it's actually the Horizontal FOV, not the average FOV. This translates to an average of 71 by default. Note the FOV for TF2 here averaging 90.

Playing with Shadowborn is very comfortable, and feels much better. The only thing it changes are "FOV techs" becoming harder to perform as survivor, but I honestly think running into the killers face and hiding beneath their vision when you're playing something like Nemesis trying to hit a tentacle is just weird game design anyway.

There are only two perks related to FOV. Shadowborn and Monitor and Abuse. I have an idea for some changes for them too. Monitor and Abuse could give a small boost of movespeed when not in chase, say 2/3/4%. And Shadowborn could roll with Wraiths perks for finding survivors, and perhaps reveal the aura of survivors within 4/5/6m when NOT in chase as well.

I just want a comfortable FOV without having to run perks. And so do a lot of players. Now's the perfect time. A simple slider between what we have now and true 90 degree FOV would be all it takes.

Perhaps one day, I'll finally be able to use all 4 perk slots on half my killers.

Every time I see arguments against FOV and brightness sliders, its always that they will be an "unfair advantage."

Like, y'know, they won't be options available to everyone or something.

But if there's an ingame slider... It becomes available to everyone, no matter the platform. So no unfair advantage. Unless there's something I missed.

Yeah, that's my point. People complain about it being an "unfair advantage" like they themselves cannot turn their FOV and brightness up if such sliders are implemented.

Well there were people who argued that colourblind mode will make some people gain unfair advantage so I am not surprised anymore.

Yea we all use colourblind now because of it for sure. And even if it was true and it was giving advantage, what is stopping everyone from using it too? Its only unfair if some players have access to it while others dont

I think their idea is that doing it is not "honorable" (being honorable in a video game featuring fat clown man and 4 teenagers with knives who get migraines from running is very important, or so i am told) so everyone doing it, by default, has an "unfair advantage."

Yeah, I don't get it either.

That's FXAA being forced on every game, I had it disabled but 5.7.0 forced it on with no way to remove it. Luckily you can remove it as of 5.7.1 and after, I used this steam guide and edited the Engine.ini. From this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805461108

First off, completely agree. I feel like it's logical to have the many disadvantages they have to the killer to make the game somewhat fair for survivors, but as small as the FOV is now, it's kind of obnoxious.

I don't think it would be this smart decision to add a slider. I think they should just increase the base FOV up to like 95. Because there's more than just those two perks that are affected by FOV only when in his charge form has an FOV increase blood less. I'm pretty sure also increases FOV. But again I would love for them to change the FOV. It makes entirely too much sense. And like you said, this is a great time to do it because they're changing so much.

Any survivor that has a complaint about this or think that it's unfair should really think they have a magical cameraman following them while they get to play. They get to look backwards and forward while they play. They're playing in third person. They can see around corners. If they force survivors to play in first person. The game would not only be significantly scarier but it would be significantly harder. Almost killers are asking for is to see a little bit wider so that I can look at my own kneecaps like a normal living creature.

Most of the techs that ######### with your field of view in the game ( FOV tech, 360, window tag, reverse FOV tag, Even getting flashlighted a lot of this #########. Just kind of works against the killer. Some of it purposely obviously but too much and it just feels like I'm a handicap killer. Like what's a horror game when the killer feels like the one that they're in peril?

Those changes would make them too strong perks. You just gotta get used to the normal fov. I only think that instadown killer should have higher fov when they use their power like bubba and oni. But other killers who don't have instadown don't need it.
