Dead Hard demands an immediate solution, no more delays.
I know it's been said several times already (after all threads like this pop up on a daily basis) but I still think the devs haven't gotten the full message yet. A planned Dead Hard rework is nice and all but WHEN can we really expect it? 3 months down the road? Or even 6 months?
Why can't you disable this extremely problematic perk until your solution to the issue is ready? It's absurd how every single match features four instances of this perk being used, it's driving several killers insane. One survivor recently told me to "anticipate it". Yeah, I definitely can anticipate them using DH to extend a chase by another minute but that doesn't offer me any real counterplay nor solace.
The perk is the equivalent of a third health state, it's singlehandely dictating the meta. It needs to go. There aren't enough options for killers to apply exhaustion; Fearmonger is worthless if survivors already let go of the gen the moment they hear your terror radius and Blood Echo requires you to injure everyone beforehand.
Ever heard of the saying "death by a thousand papercuts"? This is what Dead Hard does to you, day after day; match after match. Wanna know the definition of insanity?

The kill switch is only used for things that break the game such as COH crashing games.
22 -
Dead Hard is definitely overpowered but it’s not an “emergency” situation that requires a kill switch.
25 -
Summer 2022 is the tentative date set for the perk rework. I feel like if there's a rework already made it'll be released in waves instead of a block all at once, and considering Dead Hard has an average usage rate of just below 75% then I don't see why they wouldn't have that as a priority perk.
7 -
They will not just be reworking perks but systems around them aswel. Its not jsut perks that will be changed but game mechanics aswel.
2 -
Correct, that doesn't contract anything I've said though?
1 -
Let me guess you somehow lost another game due to dead hard?
The more dead hard threads I see thr more skeptical I get about the people complaining about it.
11 -
Do your best and try not to take it so seriously. I know that is hard to do but it is best for mental health. Getting worked up causes stress that may affect your physical health as well. Take a break after every match and try to approach things from a hide-and-seek perspective rather than a murder simulator.
1 -
It's not that serious.
7 -
Learn to bait it out, keep practicing
7 -
You cannot bait dead hard for distance
16 -
yeah but If you play well, they will not be able to dead hard for distance. You can’t just hold W as killer, you need to use your brain and outplay survivors so they panic their dead hard.
4 -
Dude there's no point in trying to convince them 😂 there's always a window or pallet around the survivor never makes mistakes their never out in the open. You can't bait out Dead hard you're wrong their right.
It's always that one bad match that some how is every match.
5 -
Ok, so then how do you “play well” as to not allow them a Dead Hard as any killer that does not have an instadown nor a ranged attack of any kind?
Spelling it out would be a godsend to all killer players.
7 -
I personally don’t have a problem against dead harding survivors, but apparently the majority has.
I don’t care if it gets nerfed, makes my killer games even easier. My next pick as survivor would be overcome instead of dead hard. Wonder how long it takes until the crying begins about that perk.

Keep practicing, that’s my advice.

Amen
2 -
So… “git gud”, then?
Surely you either have footage of yourself, or someone else that employs this counterplay that the vast majority of us plebs have never known? I’d love to see that.
5 -
I know that's why I said let it go 😂 there's no point with in the next hour theirs going to be a bunch of them try to argue with you and tell you that you're in low MMR.
I don't care about the perk either I know the perk can be strong at times but not all the time. I'm a lithe gamer

I am gonna let go. But tbh it’s funny to see peoples reactions when I write something about dead hard. It’s such a hot topic, people are being almost emotional lol

I can't wait for DH to be nerfed. Killers will finally stop bitching about it then.
7 -
is that accurate? I see every single survivor using it
0 -
They will complain about the next exhaustion perk 🙊
1 -
nah people only want to troll on the forum. Dead hard is fine
0 -
We can agree to disagree, i wont hold it against you. The perk is going to get reworked any way. Que sera, sera.
2 -
Yeah but it’s probably still useful and you’re gonna keep complaining about it. Are we gonna agree on that too?

Graph above shows the most recent data the devs used to decide which perks are "meta" and thus should be included on the perk rework
It barely reaches just below 75% at the highest level of MMR.
1 -
Ehh, I dont really complain on the forums much. Useful perks dont bother me, perks that are so overtuned that they define meta do. But yes, some killer players will still complain. No doubt about that.

Big brain survivor main

I like VSing dead hard honestly, but also don't care if it gets changed, and it certainly doesn't need to be disable until it's changed.

Speaking for myself, I've never had an issue with the i- frames aspect of the perk, mainly because that's its whole premise. My understanding of the issue has been people using it in ways not intended, the Dead Hard For Distance.
That in mind, assuming it's feasible to even do, what if you only got the distance if, and only if, got successfully dodged a hit with Dead Hard?
The game recognizes that, if you hadn't used Dead Hard this attack would have hit, and then gives you the lunge.
Would take out a few of the issues people have I think. Can't really say it rewards mistakes or is too easy to use when you have to get its usage in at the right moment. At the same time survivors can't use it at will to get that last little bit of distance to safety.

I know thank you!

What is the solution for Dead Hard usage against Nurse?
What is the solution for Dead Hard and Borrowed Time usage to make saves against a Face Camping killer?
What is the solution for Dead Hard being used by 75% of survivors (I think that's the most recent statistic) and the balancing required for when it is removed?
0 -
Wait what?
The reason DH is so much used is because it's ridiculously OP. The reason it's particularly good against Nurse is because how extremely punishing Nurse mistakes are. Once DH will be fixed, survivors will have to learn to use the new version or other exhaustion perks (e.g. Sprint Burst which requires actual skills to be used properly). There will be a drop in survivors MMR for a while.
As for the camping killer, the devs appear to have a plan. Let's see if it works. (If it doesn't push more players away, it will already be a win.)

Only if you nerf Noed too
1 -
wanna see instant changes of that perk? stop playing killer and queue as survivor (or much better, play another game)... solutions are few, simple and effective...
0 -
i'm part of the 25% lol
1 -
Is that self care that is higher then circle of healing or kindred?
0 -
Self care.
0 -
So what's this, like the 1000th post of a killer main complaining about dead hard?
Have you guys ever even try using the perk and see how not that op as you say it is?
1 -
Mate, you don't need to play survivor to know that a perk that can extend chases for an extra 20 seconds is ridiculous, especially for M1 killers.
2 -
20 secs? Haha that sounds more like lack of skills than a perk issue
1 -
Ok, go catch Ayrun in under 20 seconds with Trapper.
2 -
Probably.
0 -
The entitlement
0 -
DH is the only problematic exhaustion perk because its no risk high reward.
SB: Survivors will eventually get caught exhausted
BL: Survivors might go down before using the perk
Lithe: Once killers identify lithe it's easy hits
All these exhaustion perks have a risk factor to them. DH for distance, has 0 risk
2 -
Most of the time it can't be used for distance or they fail to do it properly. So most of time baiting it out works unless if it's very good looper.
0 -
Yeah they will complain lot about sprint burst and lithe.
0 -
none of you are playing against Ayrun in average games let's be real lmao
2 -
already exists, it's called playing survivor
0 -
True, that being said, you don't need to be Ayrun to Dead Hard to a pallet.
