When will you guys understand that new game modes like 2v8 will not be added
New game modes for this game sound appealing, but how good would the gameplay be? A 2v8, 3v16 etc would create so many holes in the game that would take years to correct. Modes like this will come out and there will be so many glitches and people will start constantly complaining that their are glitches in a game mode and they won't be grateful for the new modes. Bhvr does something that fans ask for and then people find something else to complain about.
Overall it's very unlikely we will see new game modes this year and even next year, it's way too much of an addition into the game that will break so many mechanics. Also think about those Gigs that would be added to the game. Dbd would be like 50 gigabytes more.

The devs do not do what the players ask for.
The devs do, what the players didnt ask for.
And that's been the problem ever since I started playing.
7 -
Has nothing to do with mechanics. There is not a big enough player base to support it.
5 -
Uhh this is pretty false. The perk overhaul, freddy changes, events, the BP gring reduction, bubba changes, so many killer changes, hook skillchecks, wiggle skillchecks, there are so many more. The devs do the majority of what the fans want. We got a k pop killer for the the k pop fans lmao. If you actually do the surveys then you would understand devs do nearly everything the fans want
7 -
More than a million people play this game.
1 -
I don't even want to begin a list of things the devs hasn't changed in years.
My comment was slightly of a joke, but it is also true to some extent, devs makes changes nobody ask for, and also ignore simple things players been asking for.
While also make some changes that ppl did ask for.
EdIT: Nobody in dbd wants MMR. Good percentage of players left becuz of it. Clearly, the devs do what players want them to do.
2 -
I agree the devs do do uneccary changes no body asks for.

This is actually false entirely. Identity V has less players im pretty sure an they have 4-5 alternate game modes
Duo hunters (2v8)
Tarot
Tarot Crystal Ball Mode
Phantom Shadows
Blackjack

Honestly it would be a really fun thing to try. But I doubt it will happen, seems like it would take a lot of work.

the ability to further customise KYF matches would be neat, such as changing the number of survivors/killers/perk slots etc. And could be implemented without upsetting the base game balance.
1 -
No, there are most definitely people in DBD who want MMR, they just aren't complaining about it because they are content with it.
Again, the Dev's do make changes the community wants. They just make them REALLY slowly sometimes(Like streamer mode.)
1 -
Not daily.
I predict that there are about 200,000 players on all platforms combined ( if there are 50k players daily on all platforms)
0 -
no bet, we totally manifested it lol

It's not just dbd. Most online gaming worlds don't want MMR. This is a dev thing. It's not even exclusive to dbd. Whether it be Starcraft or COD, or dbd. This is a universal sentiment.

A cursory google tells me that Identity V, whatever that is, has 10 million players every day. So um...K?
0 -
every day or in total? And if its 'every day' what time period?
0 -
Lol 10,000,000 CHINESE players on launch. China server is separate from US servers and uses a different app were not even matched together
0 -
Nah, the Devs know that 2v8 would be a dumb idea. Players who are asking for it dont know that. (Otherwise they would not ask for it)
0 -
Why does the segregation of servers matter here? If they have 10 million players on Asia servers chances are their US servers are considerably bigger and have a larger population than DBD as well.
DBD already has people experiencing 10 minute queue times WITH a system that prioritizes queuing speed over MMR accuracy. Again, this game does not even have the population to have a casual and ranked queue, let alone alternate game modes.
3 million people can play this game, dude. If the daily active users is, based on Steams projections, somewhere considerably south of 1 mil, you have no point.
0 -
1 mil daily has no point? Dude what's your definition of alot of people. 1 million people playing this game will easily make 2v8 possible for 100s of thousands of servers
1 -
You were dieing to use that one
0 -
That would actually be cool, a new game mode is a horrible idea. You need to balance perks and killers separately, have new maps for the mode, optimize it, ect.
Being able to make your own game modes in kyf would be cool, but sadly I think the devs said it couldn't be supported in this version of the game

Ah yes, the mythical 'Big Other' where some group of individuals who may or may not exist totally agree with my idea that MMR is bad.
Matchmaking exists for a reason. People were upset when Ash rank survivors were matched up with Iridescent 1 killers, even AFTER grades were made into something that only rewarded points at the end of season. What makes you think people are anymore happy to have new players matched with veteran killers compared to three weeks ago?
1 -
You know it🙂
1 -
But how many of them are playing at the same time? It doesn't matter if this game had 1 billion players, if only 1,000 are playing at a time
0 -
Game modes like Leagues URF provesthat balance is irrelevant if people find it fun
So the idea that 2v8 or whatever cant happen because of balance.. yeah not buying it, sorry.
0 -
You've never played it either, so how would you know?
0 -
Players are already complaining that DBD is not really balanced. So should they open another gamemode, which also needs to be balanced?
Then, no Solo-player would play this mode. As Killer, you would have to rely on another Killer and as Survivor, you dont have 3 Teammates, but 7 Teammates who can drive you insane.
So this gamemode would probably be played by SWFs only, either large SWFs (3+-players for Survivor) or full 8-stacks against two Killers who know each other. And the community is already complaining about SWF and blaming their losses on them. This would get even bigger with a 2v8-mode.
2 -
8 survivors and two killers (and all their assets) loading into a single map which prolly has 18 gens, 47 lockers and three gates? Just the thought of this is enough to make my console melt...
1 -
Dbd is already terribly unbalanced as it is; a ridiculous mode like 2v8 would undoubtedly be exponentially more busted than base Dbd, I wont disagree there but I believe there would be diminishing returns in terms of the unbalance to fun ratio.
To go back to URF as an example, that mode was 10x more busted, and a 100x more miserable than base League but itwas also 1000x more fun than base League when it had its weekend.
0 -
DBD does NOT have 1 million concurrent users. What are you not understanding?
0 -
2v8 should never exist, but they could try some forms of game modes.
- No perks game mode or if they want to test certain perks becoming basekit (like corrupt or kindred) they could do a game mode for that.
- A hide and seek game mode, scrap working on gens, add a 15 minute match timer and just let them chase/play

What are u talking about? MMR been broken ever since. The devs are still trying to fix it. It's not working as intended. U need to go watch the last q and a. To deal w the bad que time, the system just put u up w whoever they can find.
The devs tried MMR numerous times in the past and it's been heavily broken. It's only this time around, it's not as bad as before, so they just left it.
I'm not saying me, a player w 5000 hours should play w noobs. That's boring I rather quit. Those times happen so many times before I just let the noobs go. It's just not fun.

'In need of adjustment' is not the same thing as being 'broken'. I'v watched the last Q&A, numerous streamers, and have a pretty intimate knowledge of how the MMR system works. I am aware of it's pitfalls, but those pitfalls do not occur because MMR EXISTS when it didn't really before.
By the way, having noobs go vs five thousand hour players is exactly what would happen if MMR didn't exist, and it's what would happen in other games without MMR. The idea that STARCRAFT of all games should not have MMR is a bad joke, Korean Tourny players should not be paired with beginners and that's exactly what happens without a matchmaking system.
The testing days where they disabled MMR were abysmal. Stomp, after stomp, after stomp. It's better right now where it's enabled and they can adjust the formula.

ignoring that the devs have stated the game cant even handle that many characters at ounce
2v8 means taking every frustrating aspect of the game and giving them cocain.
hate face campers? double bubba is gonna screw you up
hate having the mend constantly, enjoy getting legioned to death
Plague + anyone else = killer auto win
Dead zones sure are annoying, enjoy seing more of those
and the devs made it a temporary game mode because it can't even stand on its own.

I just imagine some team ups like Plague and Spirit or Legion and Oni 💀💀💀

it wouldnt hurt to try it for a bit

Brood war didnt have MMR and it was fun.
Me playing against noobs happened when MMR was implemented. But it is also true, it also happened pre MMR days. It was just worst the first 3x MMR was implemented and it needs major adjustments.
But we can even go down to amount of survivors and killer ratios at certain ranks, etc.
But this is beating a dead horse.
Hence why my point stands to some degree, and so do yours.
But it is true, that MMR is a universal sentiment in the gaming world, that players don't want it. It is my opinion that we should have rank based and not SBMM.
0 -
I mean my mere existence proves the sentiment is not universal. My main bone of contention with your point is that gesture to these things(The idea that Brood War, for example, was fun without MMR is HIGHLY subjective.) and say it just is. The only way your statements make sense is if what you mean by 'universal sentiment' is that in every one of these games SOME players dislike it. Which yeah, sure, but a lot of good things are disliked by some players.
Matchmaking by grades was overall, not healthy for the game. All the grades really do in practical application is match you based on playtime, they don't actually measure your efficiency. What's the point of a filter for player skills if the filter, by design, doesn't actually work that well? Say what you want but SBMM but one thing is for sure: Your MMR goes up whenever you survive or you kill. It's an imperfect system, but it's better then what we had before in my opinion.

Yeah and IDV survivor queues are the same if not larger ESPECIALLY in a group. I've waited 30-45 minutes in IDV for a lobby and typically this is the norm if you're not a 4 man. Its big in China cause DBD wasn't in China and it was free (plus made by netease).
