Alright, I am quite literally the worst Doc in existence, so don’t take these tips lightly.

-don’t spam shock at loops. It’ll only slow you down.

-don’t use static blast to find people, use it to build up madness instead.

-the entity isn’t your master, your master is you and your opponents internet connection.

Timing. Your efficacy at timing his M2 is absolutely vital. It's hard to explain as it is highly dependent on the tile, the approach angle of said tile, the distance from the survivor, etc, etc. However, if you bang your head against it enough times, there will come a time when it just clicks. Remember that it can completely shut down windows and pallets if timed right.

Spamming it will not help you, as you lose distance when you do. It can help you get madness up, but for pure chase purposes, you'll be better of trying to time it better.

The best doctor's I have played against were very good at shocking quickly before a pallet so you can't pallet or jump or a window. And when you're hurt they can get you that way. I only do the big shocker whenever I know two people are around to build up madness.

You have to use your powers, and use them often for one. Static Blast raises madness and helps you find people. Static Shock stops survivors from dropping pallets or vaulting, so you can use that to anti-loop. However, it has a massive delay so you have to preemptively do it or they'll vault/drop regardless. Some survivors are just too good at running tiles, so even though you're shocking them constantly, you won't be able to catch them that way unless they're at a weaker loop. Your add-ons can fill in holes in your power, like showing illusions for info and to trip up survivors, or range so that you can shock survivors from further, or giving you a smaller terror radius. Survivors in madness Tier 3 can't do much, so no healing, no picking up off the ground, no working on gens He's only a mid tier killer though, so even when you take this advice, you're still gonna lose to the stronger teams. And watch out for the stupid add-on like "turns your shock into a ring", unless you feel like mastering that.

As others said Doc is fun but takes a little time to get the timing down. Most of his addons are good minus the changing of the shock......Ring is only good is they stay close to you and beam is tighter but you can get a good "snipe" with it.

Doc gets a range bonus based off his TR so anything that increases your TR helps you while things that suppress or shrinks it hurts you. The "Nodes" all increase the range of your Shock so those are safe bets but the "Files" are where its at because they change how Madness works on Survivors. The best ones I would say are ones that give Survivors a false TR heartbeat or a fake Red Stain. If you want to just be mean use both the King and Queen addons at the same time and watch Survivors quickly hate you.

Some perks to consider with Doctor would be:

Whispers - When it's lit up you know someone is close by to hit with Static Blast and, as mentioned by @BenOfMilam , if you don't hit you know to check lockers

Iron Maiden - Hiding in lockers is a way to avoid Static Blast, but this makes sure that if they do, you know it. Even if you can't get to the survivor in time to one shot, you get information.

Distressing- The Doctor benefits from a bigger Terror Radius, so what is normally a downside for Distressing becomes valuable for the Doctor.

Starstruck - Since Doctor is an M1 killer who benefits from a big TR, Starstruck is a good fit for his powers.

You can also use other perks in conjuction with an Impossible Skillcheck build.

Huntress' Lullaby - Soundless skill checks that can appear anywhere.

Unnerving Presence - Smaller skill checks that can appear anywhere.

Merciless Storm - Rapid Fire skill checks that can appear anywhere.

While Undetectable perks are not usually a choice for the Doctor since he uses his terror radius, once I do find fun to use regardless is Dark Devotion. This is more "for fun" than "for the win", but if they haven't changed it you can use Static Blast when the Obsession has the terror radius and Blast anyone around them regardless of your location.

Also, I don't think it's been mentioned yet: Keep an eye out for your illusionary Doctors. They will always spawn facing a Survivor, though not always level with them. If can give an idea what direction to look in.

Search for "impossible skillchecks doctor" on youtube. You are bound to find something funny.

Already a ton of good doc advice here.

Two builds I always enjoyed as the doc (less so now that Hawkins is gone)

    Gen killer build

Distressing, unnerving presence, overcharge, pop/huntress lullaby. Lullaby tends to get cleansed quickly so you don't always get good use out of it. Stack double calm addons, or calm and disc. Max terror radius, small map offering if you wanna be mean.

Good starter build but gets less valuable as you go up in rank because most players can hit any skill check eventually. Relies on gen kicking which is meh. When it does work you'll need earplugs to reduce the constant sound of gens exploding.

    Madness/chase build

STBFL, PWYF, Whispers, Iron Maiden/distressing/pop/NOED etc. Disc and Restraint addon. Spam your blast to find people, chase and shock the obsession till stage 3 then go to town on everyone else. The goal is to find people and down them quickly or max out their madness, wound them and move on to the next.

Its not as good in the current chase extending/COH meta without any slowdown to counter the split up and hyper focus on gens but is still usable. You could swap out STBFL with maybe starstruck as STBFL isn't what it used to be.

EDIT: As an M1 killer with timing required for anti loop he gets right royally screwed by latency and hit validation, keep that in mind when timing shocks and attacks.

Most things have been said already here, you just gotta have some fun. To me the Doc is a great killer to annoy the hell out of everyone. I build for screams. Distressing, death bound, infectious fright and dragons grip/iron maiden. It's fun when every action can make someone scream.

The biggest mistake I see Doctors make is shock timing. It does absolutely nothing if you shock me when I'm at the furthest point from the pallet. You're just prolonging the loop. You need to time it so the survivor can't drop the pallet or wait out the stun at the pallet. It's kind of the opposite logic of Clown gas or Freddy snares.

If the survivor is really good, they're going to eat the shocks and cycle long side/short side to the point that you'll never catch up if you keep shocking. You may not be able to directly get a hit off of the stun against a really good survivor. Sometimes it's enough to force them short side and play that conventionally.

Use shock therapy only for denying pallet drop/vaults or window vaults, using it just for increasing the madness is pointless, a lot of newbie doctors do that.

Don't use your shock in the open, they will only gain distance. Use it at windows, pallets to negate vaults. He plays like huntress, tuming is everything.

Alternatively throw on high stim electrode with iridescent king, and watch as the game plays itself.

    Well…

when we were kids you generally got a ‘stethoscope’ and a willing participant that you wanted to touch, feel, and see their naughty bits. Once you had them in your ‘exam room’ you performed a physical, generally found something ‘wrong’ and needed to ‘take their temperature’.

If you want to practise Doctor try Zanshin Tactics and Lethal Pursuer. Find a survivor quick without using your Static Blast and try to prevent them from using pallets or windows by using your shock. Sometimes you can use the shock for mindgames or to lock survivors in certain areas. Zanshin Tactics can help you with that. Learn the exact timing your shock needs to take effect and learn survivor patterns. Some will try to vault in panic while others will stay put. Predict that. Dont worry, if you can't get it at first. It's quite hard and you need to consider the survivors connection since sometimes they can still perform actions after they scream. It's a latency thing. The Static Blast is your best tool to slow the game. Use it to spread and increase Madness. Bring everyone to Tier 2 if you can, then use Static Blast to get them in tier 3. Remember: In tier 3 Madness survivors can't perform most actions, including healing, gens and mending.

For add-ons I recommend Restraint. It doesn't alter your chase power but makes it easier for you to track survivors on a large distance.

Most importantly if you want to get better with a Killer just play them. Just play Doctor for a couple of games. Be not affraid to chase good survivors. They can show exactly how far your power goes and what you can and cannot do with it.

Learn shock timings and account for survivor lag. The higher a survivors ping, the more of an advantage they have against you and ignoring your shock at vaults.
