Flashlights the worst survivor tool in the game
OK I'm sure if you have read any of my other discussions you see that I talk about trolling problems in games caused by survivors such as hacking or unfair perks . But the one of the most ANNOYING topics I can talk about is flashlights . I man seriously you survivors are the worst with flashlights. sometimes blinding killers multiple times at ONCE , or that ANNOYING clicking sound . We get it you have a flashlight TRUST ME WE KNOW . so please stop with the flashlight trolling is not funny , use the flashlight once when needed or to help you teammate out of being hooked , but thats it .do not stand at the exit Gate and flash us constantly .. or don't get in a gang and point your flashlights all at once .it dose not make you a better survivor . And it dose make us want to chase you . In fact if I get constantly clicked at by a survivor I will ignore that survivor the whole game . So if your doing it to get chased and to "supposedly" try to get better . It dose not work . You are a trolling and you know it .

Yeah, I hate...wait, 'flashers' is already taken. Flickers?
The strobing plus the noxious clicking gives me a literal headache, and my photosensitivity issues are minor.

TIL that hacking is a survivor only problem.
"The_best_killer_main"... but complaining about flashlights.... ok
1 -
Yes complaining about flashlights because you survivors know what you are doing you are TROLLING . And it makes you look bad

"you survivors", just another US vs Them thread, move along, nothing original or constructive to read here.
9 -
I'm sorry , it must be hard to play like that. The flashlights are the worst . And they need to be maybe nerfed or at least take that clicking noise away .
0 -
Then yes please move on , I really dont need your commentary. I post so other people can read it , not just for you.

Found the macro clicker.

I dont even use items in my matches but go off sweetie

He's not saying that they are OP, he's saying...if I'm understanding right (my guess is that he's an ESL speaker) that clicky macros are insanely annoying and should have been removed years ago.
Is it?
Survivors...are the exclusive users of flashlights. And spamming that obnoxious strobe/clicking is definitely trolling.

Using an item isnt trolling, as annoying as one might be. You can make the point of it being bad for people with disabilities, which I agree if it's a macro and that could def be toned down to so it is more friendly for disabled people.
And when you start a comment with "you survivors" implying that I am a survivor only player, and that I'm the one using macros because I disagreed with them, yes it is a "you vs us" thread.
2 -
yeah youre right
they are the worst item a Survivor can bring
Also, Ive been reading through what youve said to others. You make a thread to start a discussion.
You dont make a thread to hear only what you want to hear and disregard anything the opposing side has to say. Thats an echo chamber

It's...textbook trolling/griefing - you are using a game mechanic to annoy or frustrate another player in a manner that they can't do anything about. There is no other purpose to using a flashlight macro.
Again - a bit of charity here, this does not seem like an EPL speaker.

Well you talk like a person that contributes to the problem ,good for you if you don't just play survivor. I'm just calling out the people who actually do it on purpose. And like I said there is always something else to read if you don't like the topic. And finally yes using a tool WRONG is trolling , and you know it .
0 -
Define using a tool "wrong" because you did complain about survivors blinding the killer in your post, which is what the flashlights are for.
0 -
I understand , I'm not making an echo chamber ,if a survivor main , or someone else gives a valaed argument or make a good point I will agree . I don't just want to here what I want . I just have not seen a good argument yet. Just people stating there opinion . which is tolling fine.
0 -
For one if you can read what I said right I said , when they constantly do it . Or when they stand at the exit gye and blind the killer for fun . It's using the "TOOL " wrong . And not to mention the clicking sound. Which is highly annoyed and usually means the survivor is trolling .
0 -
Yes you are right , the flashlight is not the problem so much ,it is the people operating it. And yes it is trolling . If people used them like they where intended to it would not be a problem . But unfortunately they don't. I'm sorry you have to deal with it .
0 -
But "constantly" is subjective. Would you consider someone blinding a killer after every pallet "constantly"?
The only issue I see here is the annoying sound because blinding is just what flashlights do as intended.
0 -
You still don't see the point , survivors use them constantly ,like double blinding the killer at a hook so the blind is longer is trolling . And again at the exit Gate when they want to gloat. That's using it wrong . You know what you do, stop playing around it .

I think he means 'frequently'. As in 'I see a hell of a lot of people doing this'.
It's not just the clicking. It's the rapid strobing. This sets up the perfect storm to mess with photosensitive players - strobing+noxious stimuli.

I mean Im not a Survivor main, but I think I can give some pretty valid arguements as to why they are probably one of the least viable options to pick from while also being the most versatile item in the game, which is by no means a bad thing
Lets address the issues you mentioned, mainly clicking and chain blinding. Both of these are valid tactics. Clicking is not only used to grab the killers attention but also can get the attention of your fellow teammates. Chain blinding has its benefits, I dont think I need to explain why taking away your adversarys vision is a good thing for you especially for a longer period of time.
As for clicking at the exit gate, its just generic BM. Tbagging at the gate would have the exact same effect and its simply being a sore winner

OK, I understand your point an you make a good argument, but here is the flaw in your argument . The clicking is not OK, it is highly annoying and the only thing it make killers do it get angry. The double blind is not needed but if you need to buy yourself time I understand your point there . But the clicking is not needed . And some of the survivors will even follow the killer around and click at them , which is annoying. And no one, not even other survivors what to hear that threw out the game . It gets old fast .

I agree that flashlights are a really bad design. Like the idea of interfering with the killer and being a general nuisance (in a healthy way that is) to make them think twice about their actions is not a terrible design, but the implementation is bad. The fact a perk completely nullifies them and otherwise does nothing else is bad and on top of that it's not immediately obvious to a newer survivor that the light isn't working because of lightborn.
The interaction and 'timing' of stunning a killer who is picking someone up is not good either. Too early and you blind but don't cause them to drop, too late and they can look away. Sure there is skill in getting the timing just right but sometimes it works from angles and places that aren't intuitive nor can be realistically countered by the killer if the survivor is downed in certain places unless they run lightborn. It's just bad design all round.
The use of them after a pallet stun or drop is okay but that's about it. The other major use they get is as a taunt which is probably the most hated of all. It's also the most common tool of bully squads so that's fun...
I never take them on survivor and it's rare now that I get caught out by one on killer, though I run lightborn if I see more then one survivor carrying and I take mental note of which ones are carrying them if they find them later so I know to be careful if I down someone other then that survivor.

I love going against flashlights as killer , they get you a lot of action, if they are blinding you at pallets and chain blinding you then they have less battery to make actual saves. if this game was to lose flashlights it would take away some of the best most interactive gameplay for both sides
1 -
I like your argument, I definitely agree with you. I don't think flashlight are necessarily all bad , but just used In a bad way . To all survivors who use them fairly more power to you . But to all others who make it bad for us all , please stop .
0 -
alright, yeah, macros are annoying, but how do you 'nerf' flashlights? They're useful for survivors. That's like saying get rid of the powerful add ons for killer. Without flashlights you can't really save your teammates. Plus if you don't like flashlights in game, bring franklins are even lightborn. (Btw killer and survivor main here)
0 -
I agree , then don't necessarily need to be banned , they just don't need to be used to troll the killer that's all .
0 -
I get that they are useful i don't think they should be taken away they maybe just need a rework ., when I mean "nerf" like maybe something to take the clicking away ,and to make them less powerful so we don't have to deal with it the while game . And about them being a necessary add on they really don't. We klillers can't really abuse are add-ons. So why should they get to abuse there's and not every killer should have to use a perk to avoid flashlight trolling .

Flashlights do sometimes annoy me, but depending on how Survivors use them, they can actually be a direct help for the Killer.
The Survivors who desperately try to flashlight save are my favourite. Downed someone? Just walk over to them and stand on top of their body for two seconds. Chances are a Flashlight Warrior will run directly up to you, giving you a free hit. If you want, you can even do this multiple times. I've won entire games just by baiting the Survivors this way.
The ones who click and blind you at pallets are annoying, but not unmanageable. The time spent blinding you at pallets is time they could (and should) have used to gain distance, and assuming you have a semi-decent headset, you can easily follow their footsteps while blind.
Lastly, of course, you can always use Lightborn. It's a free teachable, and directly counters any flashlight use. And most importantly, it's hilarious to watch the Survivor slowly back up as you approach them, staring right at their flashlight beam.

I agree with you. It is fun to tease survivors with light born and to watch them try to get saves lol 🤭 . But I was more talking about the ones who really like to be a d*** with the flashlights like the ones who click them behind you . Those are the worse ones

I have won so very very many killer games from the over ambitions of flashlight users. I have also lost so very very many survivor games as well.
The stereotypical flashlight user is more interested in a chance (just a chance) of preventing killer progress on their objective then to actually progress the survivor objective.
I don’t care about the clicky stuff personally.

Bro, u do realise they flick the flashlights precisely to annoy right? So u lose it, so you’ll get heated and start playing recklessly.
or just to get ur attention and make u go for them cause they are such good loopers or whatever. Just dont let it get to u otherwise ur just falling for it.
0 -
Ok bro, that's annoying I should not have to go in a game a be annoyed the whole time but some person that need to get a grip on life. The game is all ready heated enough there dose not need to be that added on top of it . It's supposed to be fun not hell.
0 -
That's a good way of looking at it . Im Glade you have the patiences for that. I wish I did. It annoys the hell out of me.
0 -
It is fun. If u stop caring about this meaningless stuff. I main Ghostface, so believe u me, the moment u stop caring about this kinda crap u will start to have fun again.
if they flick light let them flick lights, if they tbag let them, the moment u start caring u already lost the whole point of the game
