Why do people think camping is a strat, does anyone else feel it should be handled differently?

Because it is a strategy that places pressure on survivors, it is engrained in the games design. If you want it to adjust one must consider the underlying reason why players do it, just taking away manners in which killers create pressure without any other adjustments will simply lead to even more people forgoing the role all together.

It isn't always the best or correct strategy to apply, but it surely is one.

There are strategies, perks, and mind games to counteract campers. But at first it could be discouraging for survivors, until they try a better solution.

The killers are already punished for goal tending a hooked survivor.

There used to be more skill allowed for killers, but the arms race for survivors to beat killers has become insane to go against. I'd still rather chase survivors than camp every match. I save camping for bullies and hackers.

People think it’s a strat because the devs have confirmed it is intentional game design and part of the game.

it’s a strategy that can in some cases be smart and in many be countered by the survs or punished.

though the devs have also said they are looking into ways to get rid of facecamping (actual facecamping where the killer could deny any kind of unhook was already removed)
