Different pc and console (PS4) nightfall
On pc you can see but on console you can't see anything, i don't have pictures but looking on YouTube, the player on pc can see until 30 meter bit on console you can see just until 5 meter because very dark, on pc you can easily change the contrast or something but it's really unfair on console to play against the dredge

I haven't seen what nightfall looks like to survivors with bright shaders, but you raise a good point.

A lot of games have a brightness/gamma slider with a little picture and the instructions to adjust the brightness until the picture is just barely visible. DbD needs that. I've played the game on PS4 and Switch on the same TV and the brightness/contrast is different despite it being the same screen with the same settings. A slider like that in DbD would help players on all platforms have the same experience. Right now, there's nothing to help players experience the game the way it's designed to be, the way it's balanced around.

You expect BHVR to address any performance/mechanic advantage for PC players over console?
🤣

Maybe with filters
I can barely see anything when Nightfall is active

Good idea, we need that dev

Nightfall is terrible on Switch too, can't see anything

But you know how people 80% of the time handle those sliders in single player horror games? Move it aaaaall the way to the side, so that they can see better in the dark. Now take a guess what people do in a competitive, asymetric 4v1 game, if given the opportunity?
I will leave it to your imagination, but I guess that it would be less then 2% of players who will miss such an advantage, just for a tiny bit of immersion.

I don't have to use my imagination. The people who want to adjust the colors for an unfair advantage are already doing that without an in-game slider. People use filters on their PC. And while people can mess with the brightness outside the game, there is no way to calibrate the settings to be what BHVR intended them to be. I can mess with my screen settings forever, but I'll never know if it looks how it should because there's nothing in the game to give me any hint about it. There's no Pantone chart to purchase to help calibrate my screen for Dead by Daylight. With no calibration assistant in the game, players aren't having a consistent experience. That's bad when the game is balanced around using darkness to hide and reveal specific amounts of visual information.
And I'm really, really tired of not being able to see anything on the Switch in handheld mode. With no brightness/gamma slider in the game, the only thing that can be done is increasing the screen's backlight, and that causes eye strain and a huge ass headache within a few minutes. Even when I'm playing in a pitch black room, on most any map I get stuck on walls because I have no idea that there's a wall there.

Dang. Sorry if I sounded cocky, I didn't meant to be mean. Yeah, I can now see it, even though most people just go for highest gamma correction, a slider is (should) be the easiest thing to implement and help people like you to adjust their settings.

Sorry, I probably came across more aggressive than I meant to. 😅 My tone gets negative quickly when I talk about the experience on console and especially Switch, but that's all directed at DbD, not you.

Yeah, and like the slider shouldn't take the screen from high-beams white to void black. The difference between far left and far right on the spectrum doesn't need to be huge. It's a simple thing that a lot of games have. Unfortunately, this topic has been brought up many times before, and I don't think any mod or dev has ever acknowledged it. The new addition of Nightfall should make consistency more important than ever, so maybe something will change, but it seems unlikely. We got Trickster but still no dead zone settings for controllers. Nightfall with no gamma calibration is par for the course.

Im having the same problem on PS5. This is not an "its sposta be dark, git gud" problem. The way it looks on PC is NOT the way it looks on playstation (possibly consoles in general, idk). Somethings not workin right.

It couldve been the ptb when nightfall wasn't working right, on my screen it's dark as ######### too when it's nightfall

Nightfall is literally just blackness, not reduced brightness, so filters make it grey

I mean I can see a good few metres, enough to run any tile the same as usual and the killer still has a white effect on him.
(This is console btw, pc can be made easier through filters and low graphics settings. But pc usually gets advantages anyway like turning more in certain killer powers etc.)
I have a blast versing him though and I dont think hes too strong or anything, windows is certainly god tier against it but not required

They should have ad an INGAME brightness and/or gamma slider when they released crossplay.
Even many agree the game (especially most of the reworked maps) is supposed to be dark as it's still a horror game, it doesn't help when just one plattform (PC) can increase brightness via Nvidea settings, can change graphic settings to 'low' and on top of that even can use filters. BHVR already mentioned they don't like that (at least the filters), but i asume as there's no way to track it, it's not bannable and doesn't count as cheating.
And all of you guys saying it doesn't give an advantage (this reminds me of the strechted rez problem), pls... just for a few games: Take Nvidea settings off, play without any filters and set your ingame settings to 'ultra' and you'll notice 2 things: 1) The game looks incredible good 2) survs and killers are def harder to see and that's INTENDED!

I'm on Xbox Series X and some maps I can see up to maybe 10 to 15 meters. What im saying is on Xbox I dont have much of an issue. They did black out everything at a certain distance, I'm just not sure how far that is. But they also added a vignette filter and a dim filter over the entire screen. I think the filters could be tweaked but the blackness distance is perfect. Also, I've tested out the flashlight during Nightfall and it's bright. I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried using a flashlight just for visibility? I did only on one map one time. Unfortunately not alot of killers are playing the Dredge which is shocking considered when Onryo came out, every game was her. Same with other past killers. I think this is the first time I've rarely seen a new killer at release. Just my thoughts and open to others.
