Survivors PLEASE stop opening chests!!!
Whenever I play survivor I never opened chests. Honestly I thought nobody ever did because why would you spend 10 seconds opening a chest for the off chance that you'll get a brown medkit? Why not just bring items every game and not have to run around searching for chests?
I didn't know how bad of a problem this was until I started doing the archive challenge for opening 8 chests and I kept bringing shiny coins. Almost every game I had like no time to even open a single one and then I realized that in practically every game all 5 chests were looted... In close games where a matter of seconds will determine the outcome survivors spend time looting??
I wonder how many insanely close games I've lost because somebody spent 10 seconds on a useless item they probably didn't even use? Honestly they're just time traps like dull totems, never do them!

But I need a varied selection to add to my hoard.

You just want my stuff!
MY STUFF!!!!

Shiny item. Must have it.
Escapes are ephemeral. Crappy flashlight I'll never use is eternal.

At this point they should add a cut coin for survivors. I would love that.

If you think they're opening a lot of chests now wait until the anniversary event begins. That brown medkit could be a shiny medkit! The lunar event one is my favorite because you can find fireworks. The chests mix the game up and give survivors an extra thing to do that could work in their favor. The RNG of it all is what makes it interesting. Sometimes I'll open chests half way for other survivors or come back to it after a gen is done.

SO YOU WERE THE ONE STEALING MAH CHEST!
YOU SON OFA HECC

Sorry... I had to
15 -
Sorry, I brought Pharmacy, I'm opening every chest I see at lightning speed.
6 -
I load up as survivor just to loot chests and cleanse totems. Everything else is "eh, if I get to it."
4 -
I can't help but notice OP has on Pharmacy and I can't help but smile.
But nah, opening chests and getting a heal off can be quite beneficial, especially towards end game.
5 -
and I'll do it again! Wha ha haaaa!!!!
...wait, a broken key?
Hey Verconissp, I found your stuff!!!!
No apologies necessary. I couldn't think of a good gif to go with my post and you have found it

I am sorry but what's wrong with brown medkit? One survivor health state can be a difference between win and a loss
Chests are waste of time if the killer is good and is ending chases quickly but other than that if you have the time to open them, go for it

Medkits are actually worth it. When it comes to toolboxes, probably only the rare ones.
The problem with items is that they are either too good to just be brought right from the get go, or not good enough to make looting worth it. Chests need some changes, where they either only give you items of very high rarity, or BHVR just creates exclusive version of the items that can only be looted from chests, so looting them is actually worth a survivors time.
Right now only medkits are, generally speaking, and they are rather op as items to just be brought into a match from the get go.

I really only open chests at this point when I am doing chest challenges, but that won't stop me from throwing a match to get a broken key if I'm feeling like opening a chest for whatever reason.
1 -
The reason I don't bring items with me is because most of the time I get tunneled out or not being able to use that item because of Franklin's. Unlucky.
I'm searching for a chest only if I really need a medkit or a toolbox. brown medkits helped me countless times.

I like doing something other than play gen jockey.

I love how I read this as I'm on my Playstation doing old challenges and this one I'm doing happens to be the "Open 2 chests while using Ace in the Hole" challenge.

Oh, it’s too slow you say? Pharmacy will fix that!
Oh, the item is too weak? Don’t worry, I got you covered. Plunderer’s Instinct.
Oh, it doesn’t come with any addons? Well guess what? I have Ace in The Hole, and I get to keep my addons after I escape, nerd!
Us Loot Goblins always find a way

Honestly, me as the last survivor alive.

Brown medkits are not even bad

Nah, I'm going to do whatever I feel like.
Appreciate the command, though!

And you can continue to play objectively worse for yourself and your teammates and that's okay! We accept equality of all skill levels here.

Looting a brown medkit and using it for one health state takes 26 seconds. That's almost as much as self-care and that's not even including the time you could have spent running down into the basement to open it.

Feel free to criticize my gameplay in any way you wish if it makes you feel better.
I'm here to help.

Your forum avatar literally begs us to open chests...

Yikes people really complaining about anything these days. Crying about people opening chests. Seriously?!

It's a silly avatar, that's all.

I'll open as many chests and do as many dull totems as I like, thank you. The game consists of more than holding m1 on a gen for five minutes
0 -
so you mad cause not everyone wanna gen rush?
1 -
Yep you got me. I'm being toxic and mad because I want people to focus the only objective in the game. I'm just really mad because I want my teammates to try and win.

Is there a way to finish open 10 chests challenge without opening a chest?
0 -
No, I don't think I will.

I want my daily "escape with *insert survivor here* with one new item"
