Can we stop using the term Tunneling???
As a killer main end game chat often has one or 2 people calling me a tunneling.
Now honestly I don't tunnel. Not purposly anyway but it seems that the term "Tunneling" has had its meaning widened to mean "you killed me before end game you tunneled me"
Here is what I believe is and isnt tunneling.
What Is Tunneling?
Hyper Focusing on a single survivor ignoring the rest of the game to get them killed as fast as possible
What isnt tunneling.
Hooking someone twice in a row IF it is the only option (can't find anyone else because stealthy survivors)
Hooking someone quickly after a unhook if you have hooked 1 or 2 survivors in the mean time
Having a really unbalanced match that causes you to be able to get hooks very quickly meaning survivors can't do much.
It seems that currently, in my games at least, I'm called a camping tunneling killer just because they lost.
How about survivors really stop and think about the match and if they truely got tunneled before they go and cry about it in end game chat. Stick with the GG and move on.
Side note....Yes there there are killer mains out there who purposly Camp and Tunnel survivors out of the game and those are dicks.

I dont think tunneling (and camping) determines the character of a person, since ya know, it's literally just a game, and Im not going to let the actions taken within a game dictate who someone is outside of a game. People can play the game how they choose. If they want to tunnel, Im fine with waiting in queue again, Ill just move onto the next match. Want to camp me? Ive got Kinship, so Ill gladly wait the 2 min 34 seconds, more time for my team to get gens. Either way, I dont care if I die as survivor, I dont care about losing or winning as killer either, but that's just me, and not everyone is the same, Im just here to have some fun, and Im not sure why everyone has to make a big fuss over how other people play.

I lean to normalizing it.

I wish everyone had your outlook. I don't care if i win or lose as killer but some games its just so unbalanced in order for the survivors to win i have to throw and afk in the corner for 4 gens lol. What i don't get is why Camping and Tunneling has become the go to for survivors to blame as to why they lost the game.
My question wasn't about how people play its about how people respond to losing in games and why a single term now has such a broad range of uses.

Uh, it is still Tunneling even if you have no other option.
There is good and Bad tunneling in my opinion lol

As soon as killers stop saying "gen rush," sure.

This.
Tunneling is like eating a puppy.
If you're starving, I'll pass you the ketchup.
If you go into every restuarant and immediately ask what they have in puppy for the evening, you need help.
Either way, the puppy is still eaten.

You're absolutely right, that exactly what happening. Focusing on single survivor and ignoring the rest. Word to word.

I typically use Tunneling, Camping, and Gen Rushing to represent maximum efficiency of objectives, I dont use them as a way to shift blame or hate.
~If I get tunneled, good on them, they now have a really good chance of winning since they got me out of the game, which is perfectly fine, I can readjust my perks, rewatch footage to get better at looping.
~If I get gen rushed, they are amazing at doing their objective, bringing the best tool for the job, major props, I can look back and use that knowledge to get better at pressuring generators.
~If I get camped, they are doing a good job at pressuring survivors to get away from gens, or depending on the killer and perks used, props to my team for finishing their objectives, maybe I can look through some old stuff and look at tackling tough situations.
I try to avoid looking at things negatively, even if, ya know, it can be hard sometimes. Im not going to sit here and act like I havent gotten annoyed every now and then, but it's bound to happen with any game. But keeping a positive outlook on things, and using terms to reflect more positive things, really does make DbD a lot more enjoyable.
Though the discourse between both sides does kind of hinder the experience, I will say, not too fond of getting harassed over how I play a game, people tend to look at the terms I mentioned more negatively and heavily reflect that in the words they use... my PlayStation Messages heavily reflects that.

Yes, and tunneling is also very much and perfectly reasonable, the killer can tunnel me as much as they want, is fine for me

Why do you care about what it is beeing called? Just play as you want and do your thing, let them cry as much as they want.

As a killer main, I purposefully don’t tunnel, i want the unhooker for my bbq stacks. Especially now with the cakes (flan). Played 6 survivor games today and killers were only going after the unhooked (no one runs bt anymore?). Which is also funny cause when I’m killer my accidental hits on the unhooked sometimes always trigger bt.

If you aren't familiar with playing killer, going against one who is good at applying consistent and constant pressure is going to feel like they are always on you, even when they are spreading their hits/downs.
Not saying full on tunneling doesn't happen, but I think that accounts for a pretty low percentage of "tunneling" complaints. Just because you got bounced in 5-6 minutes doesn't mean you were tunneled.
I play a lot of surv and I think I have been full on tunneled (where the killer went after no one but me until I was dead) maybe 2-3 times in the last month.
But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter; play how you want to.

I mean it’s still tunneling, but I don’t see it as a bad thing. Tunneling is just part of the game.
