Sad to see shadowborn isn't at least getting a secondary effect.
Been hoping they at least gave it another effect to justify the perk slot. Im forced to use it anyway because the game makes me sick otherwise. I'm fine with using a perk slot for it I've gotten used to it. But at least giving it a secondary effect would make the perk a little better on its own. Besides the fact we are in a game in 2022 that doesn't have a fov slider. I hope everyone else is excited about the other changes though.

Yeah you could say an FOV slider would be an advantage but I’d rather that then having people forced to run a perk

On 15th anniversary we may get a brightness settings and maybe FOV slider few years later. Copium

FOV slider would be pointless, because everyone would simply set it to max so that they have the larges FOV, maximum information.
If they did have a FOV slider, the max would be whatever they deemed to be the greatest FOV you should get without costing a perk slot. i.e. it would be the current FOV, and the slider would only allow you to reduce it.
That said, the default FOV is strangely small for killer. It should be a little wider (but not quite Shadowborn levels).
The main issue is having survivors crouched directly in front of me and them not showing up on my screen at all. As long as that was prevented, it'd be a wide enough FOV.

Its also accessibility though thats why shadowborn is ran. Most people run it because it looks nice. But some people need it for motion sickness. So if they can solve that as well.

With how terrible killer fov is already, an fov slider would be more than welcome.

You can say that for every single game out there with an FOV slider

As much as I have avocated for accesibility FOV in dbd grants a very big advantage compared to FOV in other games, tell me any reason why if implemented any survivor player wont up it to max to be able to see over loops and avoid mindgames.

who said an FOV slider had to be given to Survivors?

Survivor? Survivors have 3rd person view, killers have default of 87 fov in 1st person

Besides needing it for motion sickness i do really like the look on killers like the dredge. Is it worth the perk slot? Maybe? I mean it looks good. I just wish for a secondary effect.

FOV slider would absolutely break the game. Survivors (killers too obviously) had stretched res, which was essentially an FOV slider and that was fully cheating and killers thought it was unfair, and survivors alike. BHVR I think would never add an fov slider. If they did this, most likely survivors would think it's unfair but yet somehow I think killers would be fine with it... and some but very few killers would think it's not fine.
That's how it would go exactly... in my eyes.
The amount of times I am thankful the killer didn't see me, boy if that went away completely basically due to FOV I would be pretty upset.

Stretched res affected your vertical fov as well which is what led to it letting you see over loops. Shadowborn just adjusts your horizontal iirc. But even then I dont think people are arguing for 200fov on killers. Just let shadowborns fov be the cap so people have a choice without being forced to run a perk. Even if it was a binary choice between default and shadowborn wouldn't be too bad.

FOV slider would be a killer thing only, no need for survivors to have one at all.

Because high FoV can cause mostion sickness in people just as easily as low FoV can, which is why its generally a slider and not just a "min/max" toggle. Also if being able to see over loops like they did with stretched rez was an issue, they can fix it the same way and prevent it from overscanning vertical angles it shouldn't be able to. They could even actually design loops properly to prevent the issue. wild, i know.

I don't get it.. why only dbd is it where people care about an fov slider on killer to where people would set it to max. No other games community had that problem.
1 -
This community is built around "how do i exploit x" more than anything, so it's not too much of a surprise. Just read through people's takes on balance and it becomes pretty apparent.
2 -
Because dbd relies on acute visual information like no other games.

? Not really. Maybe back when this game was a hide n seek sim but now that its literally people can be bold and still win...
1 -
Are we playing the same game?
Stealth is very much still a thing, and locating survivors is essential. Then there's mindgames at loops, which fall apart if one side or the other can see too much, as was apparently with the whole stretched res thing.

I rarely get immersed survivors and when I do they were so bad at it that shadowborn wouldn't have "given me an advantage". Either way there is really no reason to have an accessibility option as a perk. Effectively removing agency from motion sick players for being FORCED to run FOV altering perks.
1 -
I think accesibility options should not be exclusive to any role, if its implemented it should be able to be used by both killers and survivors.
0 -
Yeah but FOV on survivor creates even more safe situations for them as they are third person vs killer first person. I have never seen people say they get motion sick on survivor where killer I've seen plenty. Even for me it feels like I'm playing through a magnifying glass.

I agree it gives a bigger advantage as survivor but you cannot add accesibility options to one side and not the other as it feels kind of unfair.

The best secondary effect that can go on Shadowborn is that auras are revealed for a extra 1/2/3 seconds
0 -
You see 3rd person is already an advantage of its own. And I find it basically impossible to get motion sick for survivor pov compared to killer.

Dev's think this a fun and highly skilled mechanic for the survivors to use.. Good luck ever seeing killer fov changed.
