Dredge Counter?
Is there anyway to counter him? Everytime i face him he's either getting a 3 or a 4k, rarely with all gens done. Most of the time i see him with the add ons which make the survivors start the trial with nightfall and the one that apply the exposed status effect on the last seconds of nightfall.
Nightfall is so dark - i like the horror effect it adds tho, so i'm fine with that - but even a flashlight doesn't help a bit. I really don't know how to counter him besides the "holding w" playstyle which is just ridiculous. He's only kinda getting countered when mindgaming his anti loop ability which is quite underwhelming considering he's not only an anti loop killer.
If there's anything i need to know, tell me. I'm open for ideas.

Lock lockers. To go further, lock one locker of every locker pair. That way when he breaks it, you can lock the other one. (his teleport prioritises locked lockers)
Look behind you in a chase. When you see him charge his Gloaming, treat it like you would a Nurse or Spirit and feign your movements. Judge whether or not you should commit to a loop or move to the next one based on where the remnant is, and if he does indeed teleport ahead of you somewhere, doubleback.

The only way to counter darkness is to embrace the light.

When the Dredge places the remnant, you basically have to leave the loop. He moves much slower than you (like 3.6m/s) while he's charging the teleport, so you'll be able to make some distance.
If you see a group of lockers right next to each other (as in 2 directly side by side), you only need to lock one at a time. Dredge's teleport will always prioritise the locked locker in the group. That said, be careful about nearby unlocked lockers that aren't part of the group, he can exit from those just fine.
As with Nightfall, your best friend is map knowledge. When Nightfall is close to activating, there'll be a sound cue and darkness will appear momentarily. At this point, you'll want to make a note of the nearby loops, so you know where to run if he decides to chase you.

Poignant yet unhelpful, I like your style

Thank you 🙃

Lock one locker at a time to get 2 uses out of them. If he drops the remnant then just run to the next loop because it slows him down. You can also just stand under the pallet if your reactions are fast enough.

if he remnants in chase, abandon loop and continue to the next one. he moves too slow to stop you

Just leave the loop once he puts a remanent down. Also only lock 1 locker in a group of 2 since it forces him into the locked one

Everybody mentions to lock only 1 locker. If I lock 2, he'll break both on first teleport?

Not automatically, but he has the option to turn around and M1 the second lock. It's a terrible feature that BHVR added last minute that auto maximizes survivor options to be as good for them as possible.

He might. He can break out of one, and then once he realises he's been slowed down too much he'll just turn around and smack the other one off, so next time he won't be slowed down porting to that location.

I wonder when we come to the time where ppl start calling blight or huntress an M1 Killer lol

Don't worry devs will fix the dual locker lock cheese that is not intended and basically an exploit.

The remnant mechanic isn't really what makes Dredge an A Tier killer, it's his incredible map mobility plus lengthy Nightfall periods where he's Undetectable and survivors have less vision. The remnant isn't the strongest anti-loop in the game or anything, but it does help occasionally. Really though it's everything else in his kit that makes him a really solid killer. In fact if his Remnant anti-loop was stronger he'd easily be an S Tier killer, that his looping is only "a little better than average" is the only thing really holding him back at all.

W shift when he's leaving his remnant, close lockers and congrats, now he's only a m1 killer without nothing to aid him in chases

Since no one else has said it yet: this is some really solid advice!

Macro game play isn't just "hit and run". Dredge is also a solid slugger, for instance, because he can immediately teleport straight from one down into a new chase.
Also while sparse lockers can occasionally be a factor, on most maps it's not.

If you are in a loop and it places the renmant you have to leave, it moves much slower so unless you are out of position or in a massive deadzone you will reach another tile also if its chasing you and suddenly the heartbeat stops its an indicator it has started a teleport towards a locker, get away from any you can see, Ive found the safest route is to go the direction it was chasing you, usually it will teleport to a place near your position where it thinks you will be if you kept running that way but usually out of sight (behind a wall for example) so it will be confused, you may even juke it entirely.
And stand away from the basement, if you get hooked there the only way you are getting out is if you get unhooked while its carrying someone else or it actually lets you get out because the player decided not to tunnel by teleporting to one of the lockers on shack or near the basement (almost all basements have lockers nearby, even the main building basements).

His teleport outside of nightfall is incredibly slow, telegraphed, and with locks screams "Im here! Everyone hold W and get a free 6+ second head start!" You cannot be a good slugger if you cannot get survivors down fast. Good survivors can easily react to remnant+ dredge teleporting(theres so many audio cues for when this happens). With this in mind and combo'd with the fact it is literally impossible to really control when a nigghtfall is going to occur as dredge he basically becomes a glorified M1 killer.

Dredge has recently become a killer that has finally stumped me. I know people hate playing against nurse, but for some reason I can dodge nurse like a literal god and have no issues ever facing nurse... naturally gifted with specifically nurse I guess.
DREDGE though... He is the first killer I have truly every felt giving up on. He has incredible control over basically every area of the map, and under a chase he has incredible ability to basically stop you from looping him.
He is such, such a hard killer for me to go against, whenever I see someone playing as dredge I just instantly give up and play the game like a thumb.

Predrop pallets, hold w, camp pallets, the same as usual with must killers, at the end dredge is just as overrated as the artist

Both are as annoying to face as the other

Same. I can run a nurse for straight up 5 gens but the dredge just isn't outplayable (for me at least). I still think people bragging more about how they loop him than they actually did. The chases really don't last that long

"learned". There's not much to learn you just need to get the hang of the controls. He's a M1 Killer with Teleport, Map Pressure, Anti Loop so basically like a nurse without the exact teleportion. Little to no counterplay too but he's far too easy to learn in comparison to nurse. I really like playing him because it's so easy to 4k but facing him is a literal nightmare

Id say the same way you counter m1 killers, looping.
