DS double nerfed... but why?
I knew some people complained about it being active during end game... but reducing the stun from 5 to 3 seconds... what gives?

They want it to be run less frequently. On top of giving survivors basekit anti-tunnel, that'll mean nerfing DS so it's not obnoxious when paired with the new mechanics.

Yeah that makes no sense, 3 second duration??? That’s not gonna do anything against a Nurse.
17 -
Uh yeah stun duration was extremely unnecessary

I think their intention is to make sure survivors don't gain too much distance on killers in general in this update - so I think it was a change with the changes to the successful basic attack cooldown and speed boost on hit reductions in mind.
That said, I actually don't mind if a killer gets punished too harshly for tunnelling a survivor, so I personally think the nerf to the stun was unnecessary.

I really wouldn't mind seeing the skill check removed and making it work twice (with the two slated changes they announced) but also making it no longer activate when you get grabbed out of a locker.

DS right now with it being deactivated in end game would just punish tunnelers... so I dont see why they felt the need to punish tunnelers a little bit less.

I'd be fine with that. I actually wanted them to make it active after both hook stages since you can get unhooked, tunneled, hooked again, then what? it's free tunnel town ig

Very tasty.

Ds used to be 3 seconds. That was how it was meant to be I assume. Then enduring was buffed to reduce stuns from perks. This caused ds to receive a buff to counteract that change. Then enduring lost that secondary effect, yet ds wasn't reverted for some reason. Now we are back at the beginning with both enduring and ds having their old values back

This is a thread to discuss DS changes, not to celebrate your biased opinion. Make your own thread for that.

Prepare for more tunneling

No. You brought up DS and I shared my opinion on the change. Keep breathing.

Yea idk what this double nerf was about tbh.

Seriously, why did they nerf DS again? I can understand the endgame change, but reducing the stun timer? If anything, DS needed buffs like removing the skill check and allowing it to be used twice. This was not a healthy change to the perk; it's just making tunneling a survivor through DS even more feasible.

DS is completely useless now imo. It was already weak against killers like nurse and blight and now it's not even worth using.
4 -
I would totally accept nerfing DS in a way to not be used in Endgame. But the other change happening would be to increase its Anti-Tunnel Ability. But they nerfed it, with 3 seconds of Stun (1,3 used for the animation), every Killer can just tunnel through DS without problems.

They addressed camping and I am happy about it, but not tunneling. I don't understand.
2 -
3 seconds is nothing for most killers. Very disappointed again with BHVR.
It will actually be more rewarding to tunnel than before with the longer gen repair times.
9 -
Literallly no reason. Was absolutely fine perk
5 -
The endgame change is completely reasonable but the stun duration? Yeah I don't understand why they reduced it to 3.
1 -
I really hope this 3 second stun duration doesn't make it past the PTB. Survivors need more than 3 seconds. Especially against killers like Nurse and Blight.
2 -
I get it deactivating during EGC, but the stun time reduction makes no sense. Should've made it so it activates after every unhook instead

This. I don't know if they think 5 seconds of Endurance and a small speed boost off hook is going to encourage people not to tunnel, but if they do, they're super wrong. BT was practically basekit with how often it was run and you didn't see that deter tunneling in the slightest.
People didn't tunnel because the unhooked player was a softer target (which they still are), they tunnel because removing a player from the game is stronger than spreading hooks. For all the killer buffs that are coming with this update, this wasn't changed in the slightest.

5 seconds did nothing against nurse though #########
1 -
Totally agree. This is the change it needs the most tbh.
They kinda addressed camping with the basekit changes but tunneling will just increase now imo.
3 -
An extra ten seconds is nothing.

Between off the record and base changes, tunneling and camping is going to be fairly punishing now.
All of the small speed/duration changes to killer is going to make it more appealing to avoid second chances and not tunnel/camp.
Of course, this will only cause survivors to complain that they don't get to use DS/BT any moren and intentionally dance in front of the killer to bait them out, forcing the tunnel. 🤷♂️

There will be a shift in the meta. While DS won´t guarantee a free escape during endgame anymore, other perks like Off the Record or the 3 movement speed bonuses (base after getting unhooked + hope + no one left behind) survivors can receive now, will make up for that. Hell, toss bloodpact on top of it and you get speedy gonzales.

Wasnt DS buffed to 5 from 3 when Enduring was buffed?
Then they nerfed Enduring but didnt adjust DS.
It now will be as strong "as it shouldve been" since the Enduring nerf.

I feel like there isn't much point in shifting the meta to one super dominant tactic to the other, though? As it is, we're just trading DS for Off The Record. There's zero reason to bring DS over Off The Record now. Wasn't the point to increase perk diversity?

The changes feel inconsistent. On one hand they increase gen times, while on the other, they buff perks with bonus repair speed.
They recognize that kill rates have dropped + gens are to fast only to nerf all slowdown perks.
They nerf camping with basekit BT, while also removing the bonus bloodpoint incentive from BBQ.
My prediction is, that we´ll see more bully squads (Off the Record is a third health stat. Unless it deactivates once the survivor is fully healed), more camping, and still gen rushes.
We can forget about DS. Far stronger perks are out there now.

Nurse already didn't care about a 5 second stun, so that hardly matters.
