The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Is the DS change a bit silly?

Out of all perks, this is the one that deactivates in the endgame? Kinda weird to just slap that onto a perk just because “There is not way to counter it.”

The perk has been threw enough. I understand the Deactivate when opening exit gate part but to just Completely not work in endgame, doesn’t make sense.

At least make it more of a anti-tunnel perk.

Well don’t worry because certain killers have already moved on to the alternative, off the record. I’m convinced some people just want to tunnel without any punishments. Sad times to be a survivor, I feel bad for them.

They should make DS work twice, remove the skill check or double its size, and make it not activate when locker grabbed but keep the proposed changes as well imo.

I rather it deactivate if you start opening the gates.

The problem with nerfing the stun is two of those seconds after the DS is spent just falling off the killers shoulder. This means the survivors (after the next nerf) will have one second to get distance. In other words, they'll be four meters away from the killer instead of twelve.

What they gave to Off The Record is what they should have given to DS, especially if they wanted it to deactivate at endgame.

In other words this perk should really... like REALLY shine prior to endgame. Same way Adrenaline and Hope do at end-game.

Maybe the 3 second stun makes the locker thing a non factor but I've had too many survivors trying to be as toxic as possible while it's up or just following with a flashlight for a save if you down someone else and then just jumping in a locker if you threaten to slug them for it.

But I do want to see it buffed for both inexperienced players and in cases where survivors get legitimately tunneled when they aren't trying to be annoying.

They deactivate it during the EGC, they reduce the stun, and still they keep that tiny skill check.

I want to be like, "At least now I'll have OTR to use to help myself," but I can't believe it'll go live in its stated condition.

I genuinely would like to see someone from BHVR address why the stun was reduced. It makes absolutely 0 sense, particularly given the loss from the drop animation. A far better and healthier change would have been:

    • Usable on both health states
    • Exit gate / EGC disables it

if it doesnt need to work during end game, then take the timer and other restrictions off? if its completely deactivated during endgame, most of killers griping about it should not have a problem with this, esp with gen times increased, base kit of 10% of pop for every kick to the gen, cant say the devs dont do anything for killers or only favor survivors with updates (even tho they have done multiple updates like this one)

This. I don't get why they added the endgame stipulation when they then added Off The Record's 80s Endurance, which has the exact same result; there's nothing the killer can do to you in endgame.

It's impossible to use DS aggressively in a way that forces the killer to eat the stun, though. It's not like BT. You just slug the person that's obviously baiting you and move on. And if they want to sit in a locker for 60s, that's their problem.

Meanwhile, it made it so that using the perk defensively is all the less useful, and it's easier for the killer to jump straight back on your ass.

DS was changed from 3s to 5s because Enduring was seen as problematic in decreasing the stun time.

After that effect was removed from Enduring, DS remained at 5s.

It will finally return to 3s.

5 seconds was the only thing saving this perk, and for those who think BHVR will make changes before it's live; they won't. This is the "live" version.

While that's mechanically true, there's virtually no reason to do anything else at that point.

That said, losing that part of DS should have warranted a buff for the perk, not a nerf.

It should only deactivate if the person touches a gate.

It kind of follows the logic of the other changes. As a survivor who escaped many matches that way, knowing perfectly well the killer had no move left to stop me, I kind of understand. As a killer, it has only bitten me a few times.

The DS deactivation has been requested for a long time by players. It kind of make sense too but given how DS used to be OP, I was pretty happy with its current iteration.

Can they change the name from "Decisive Strike" to "Midgame Inconsequentially Situational Strike". MISS seems like an appropriate acronym.

It makes sense that they would nerf ds after they made bt with a sprint burst base basekit, not to mention the new perks that will allow you to stack it, giving 2 mins of bt. If a killer tunnels now, they'll hard throw the match in the process.

The fact it disables at end game makes the 5s to 3s stun reduction overkill.

Survivors who have DS in end game get a free escape.

This perk is supposed to counter tunneling, you are NOT being tunneled when the gates are opened.

    Simple as that.

And the two second stun reduction nerf? It's now even worse at stopping tunneling than it was before. BHVR wants DbD to die at this point? Weird, but seems like it.

Most of the time it is because failure of killer I only have to eat ds once a week in endgame maybe and I play like 10-15 matches a day. Most matches I end before that and I use regularly noed so I can quarantee kills at the end and make sure no-one can be saved. Only few times there has been survivor crawling through exit and I have picked him up and been stunned with ds. Other times I simply have waited it out and downed survivor before he can make it to the gate. Pretty simple counter is also down the unhooker instead or just grap him while he tries to save.

Ds is perk you don't need even most games. I think it should be basekit to prevent tunneling.

They might as well delete the perk if these changes go live.

Changing the stun from 5 seconds to 3 seconds will definitely make it much easier for killers to tunnel, 'cause they recover faster. And we're talking about a perk that already has a really hard to hit skillcheck, which is even impossible to hit on consoles and older PCs due to the poor optimization of the game. DS is about to become pretty useless. It's supposed to prevent tunneling, but in application it fails miserably.

I disagree with stun duration. Not sure why they did this.

Hey, I'd be all for 5 second stun during both hook states but... I don't work at BHVR, lol

I hope Off The Record shows up in the Shrine in the next few days of 24 hours refreshing so I can unlock it and switch DS to that perk as soon as the patch is released. I don't own Zarina.

You should def get it. Doesn't cost you much.

I will use it for sure unless they nerf it before the update.
