Camping was buffed
Trying to digest these changes, and killers were buffed massively. Camping was also buffed.
Previously, a camper can camp someone to death and still tag 2 or 3 with NOED, because there was not enough time for 3 survivors to hardly do 5 gens, much less totems too!
Now with gens taking longer camping will be more rewarded, it'll be impossible to do the gens.
Camping was buffed. I think this is oversight, surely gens are not going to take longer in a game already incredibly favoring killers.

I invited you to SWF one time but you didn’t accept it :(

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Camping is already an issue and with these changes it's going to be even more common.
10 -
yes camping is gonna be even more stronger and effective if your teammate goes down at 5 gens and against a face camping Bubba with Deadlock you can call gg and go next you won't have time to do all 5 gens with 1 person sitting on the hooks PLUS with Deadlock.
Poor SoloQ enjoyers...

We all know this.
Some of us just choose to understand it more than others.
1 -
Fun thing is they had to do the other way around, buff regression but leave gens as they were so Killers who engaged in chases and pressured the Survivors had it easier but campers had it tougher but for some reason they did the exact oposite...
1 -
Yeah, Solo Q will be even less likely to get gens done.
2 -
I didn't get your invitation.

DBD does not favor killer. And yeah, the changes to gens will most likely happen.
The problem is that camping and tunneling aren't getting nerfed into the ground as well. These killer buffs are good, except the bloodlust nerf, and maybe the pallet break buff, because they make fair and skillful play more viable, encouraging killers to play better. But that also means the devs are given optimal opportunity to finally nerf camping and tunneling properly, so those become unviable strategies. But these changes are not even nearly enough.
I do think that gen times buffing camping is probably an oversight, and something they didn't think off. They need to increase the duration of each hook phase from 60 to 90 seconds, that would add an entire extra minute to the time survivors can last on a hook. And they need to remove the ability to grab survivors that are unhooking another survivor, it's such an outdated and unnecessary mechanic that aids camping as well.

There's just no way this will make it into live servers like that. The devs will surely realise they have to nerf tunneling and camping properly, now that the fair killer strategies are finally buffed.
1 -
The sad thing is they've apparently been working on a solution but it won't go live at the same time as the rest of this update making us stuck with this.
1 -
Did everyone read the same notes? Everyone gets baseline borrowed time. They nerfed camping. What are you talking about??
1 -
Borrowed time helps with tunneling, it doesn't make camping any harder
killer can still very much trade the hooked guy for the unhooker, or get multiple downs. As long as they have someone on the hook they win bc the others won't have time to do the gens
6 -
Correct.
The devs basically pulled a Deathgarden with this update.
4 -
This only happens if you have one person to unhook. If you have at least two people unhooking, it's nearly impossible for the camper to down the unhooker. One player takes a hit and zips away, while the other unhooks. The killer's recovery animation is too long to grab during this time and at most he may get two hits, but he won't get a down.

Wait, I thought they removed camping in deathgarden?
No hook/altar, whatever that pillory was called. Quick mori.
Then a shared pool of lives for the runners. And quite instant respawn.
They removed the need for the runners to do anything except collect blood.
Thats quite different from DBD's problems.

That would be very bad. Unless maybe it's like in the first hotfix one week later.
But I also find it very hard to believe that they wouldn't be able to at least increase the hook phase duration from 60 to 90 seconds. That really can't take long to do, or?
Otherwise, and I don't like saying this, as I do look forward to less stressful killer matches, but in that case, they maybe need to postpone the gen time changes, so they can be released together with the hook phase duration increase.

And that requires two healthy survivors, requires them to be off of gens, and requires them to be coordinated or understand that they need to be there in some way.
The end result is that 3 people are injured and all close to each other making mass slugging viable. Since all 3 survivors are close to you, you choose the one in the worst position, down them, repeat the process. Now the other survivors need to find each other to reset to do the same thing while still not doing generators. Eventually, they're on death hook.
If you've played both sides, it's pretty obvious that this is problematic.
The amount of skill to do something should be roughly equal to the counter play to that same thing. This is definitely not the case with camping.
1 -
The duration is not long enough, it should be 12 seconds, and because of gens taking longer to repair, camping is actually indirectly buffed as well.
0 -
All they need to do to offset camping is increase first and second state hook timers. This has little to no effect on people who don't camp as they're just gonna go seek out another hook anyways and not sit there to try and get second state/a kill. Tunneling has already been addressed for the most part, but camping is definitely still an issue.
2 -
I forgot to ask, do you have the source of where they said that, or confirmed that?
1 -
I was once duoing with a friend of mine and we got Sluzzy randomly in our lobby. They are actually a really decent survivor.
1 -
This 100%. And it needs to be more, so that camping is actually nerfed in comparison to it's current effectivity.
1 -
How about pausing the hook timer like Kinship/Comaraderie after a certain time has passed and you are still in the killer terror radius or halved if insidious, or better yet, if a killer spends a treshold of time around the hook he gets penalized points instead of gaining, yes I play killer, have since 2019 rank 1 yes. I'd rather have 3 hooks and 4 escaped survivors than 2 or 3 hooks and/or 2 or 3 kills in 10-15 minutes while I just sit still and stare at them if you can't risk living a little in a game do you even play games to have fun?
2 -
that just doesn't work if the killer knows what they're doing, or if it's an insta-down killer. Also if you need two players to unhook one person it means there's only 1 survivor on a gen, which still makes camping very good for the killer.
1 -
Camping was indeed buffed, but the devs like camping so what's the issue?
0 -
Agreed. There will still be a huge amount of camping killers especially since they can afford it now that gens take longer to do. They need to do another basekit where when killer is near hooked survivor entity progress is slowed.
Also trading on hook will be so much better for killer now as survivors may not even have the time to unhook with the lower cooldown on succesful hit so similar to the gen breaking etc they should make unhook action faster at least. but the first idea is still prefered as that will really punish them for camping. They addressed gen rushing, catching up, tunneling but the most annoying part (camping) will still remain in the game :(
