I'd love to see the stats on how many solo vs swf players use Spine Chill or Self Care
I only play solo, don't really use Self Care too much anymore but do sometimes when I run out of medkits on my mains. Spine Chill I use a lot. I also love Kindred, Small Game and Sprint Burst or Overcome. Most of the time I pick the perks I do because they help with the inherent weaknesses you have as a solo queue player.
As far as I'm concerned, nerfing Self Care and Spine Chill only truly hurts solo players because we cannot communicate with our teammates. Need a heal in an SWF? Ask your buddies where they are. You're also free to walk around injured if you know another teammate is in a chase on the other side of the map. There's no need to waste a perk slot on Spine Chill in an SWF group because any time one of your buddies spots the killer, they can tell their teammates who can then either react if necessary or comfortably work on a gen because they know the killer is nowhere nearby.

This entire update is a big ######### you to solo survivors. Killers definitely needed some TLC, nobody is arguing that, but this update comes at the cost of a big chunk of the casual player base.
And the ironic thing is, the same people who are calling solo survivors "crybabies", or mocking them for losing their "crutch perks", etc. are the ones who have spent the last year crying themselves and using crutch perks.
The devs have made it clear they 100% expect survivors to be in or move toward SWFs at this point.

When I'm playing survivor it's exclusively solo queue. With that said I never use self care and very rarely use spine chill.
IMO med-kit + built to last and stand alone CoH are both much better than self care. SC is a great perk but I don't feel the need to use it anymore.

If they nerfed Self Care this hard they will no doubt nerf CoH again in the future because nobody who is interested in ever escaping again will run the new Self Care.

Self care and Spine Chill are mostly used in solo.
Why would SWF need any of these if they can communicate to heal each other and you know when the killer is chasing someone else?
I feel like Iron Will even though is also used in SWF, a lot of solos use it too because they dont want to waste time healing with self care but also dont want to be obnoxiously loud and easy to find.

IMO spine chill needed a nerf. However I think Kindred should be made base-kit ASAP in order to buff solo queue.
Whenever I play solo, I generally run one of kindred/bond and the recent tome challenge made me appreciate aftercare more. In solo information is more important than DS or UB in my experience. BT was probably the most important meta perk in solo, but now a mini version is becoming base-kit the info perks are the important ones.
However the question is, should solo players have to use up perk slots to get a fraction of the information and coordination that SWF can get? Either we have to accept that when playing survivor there’s two different game modes, solo and SWF, or the imbalances between the two have to be addressed. Hopefully the devs actually go with the latter.

We'll see. I think the idea behind the nerf is that SC depletes med-kit consumption and allows you to heal anywhere at anytime. Meanwhile CoH can be snuffed out or outright prevented by your teammates. I've gone whole matches without being able to light a single totem simply because I couldn't find one.
Don't take this the wrong way. I've had plenty of powerless moments as killer when going up against CoH SWF teams. I just think this is part of the devs reasoning for nerfing SC. Seems like they'd rather you dedicate to a healing build over getting a free heal with no downside.

I know, some of the meta is just needed when Solo. I usually take a healing perk or a Medkit. But I also use Dead Hard as a solo player because I know if take a hit and am injured in endgame - so clearly no NOED - and three people are healthy no one will take a protection hit let alone attempt to save so I need Dead Hard to get through the exit gate where the killer is standing. 🙈 I'd actually prefer other exhaustion perks if I could rely on others. (I realise Dead Hard will probably still help in this scenario so I'm glad about that but doesn't change that I would.prefer to take other perks).
