Make Your Choice (Tier 1), Exposed duration not matching icon cooldown wipe

Make Your Choice I says it exposes a survivor who unhooks further than 32m away for 40 seconds and has a 40 second cooldown timer.
I heard Elodie scream (a very unique scream), and there is only one Elodie in the trial.
I return to the hook, find Elodie, chase her, and hit her. She went from healthy to injured, not healthy to dying. The cooldown timer finished 1 second later.

Did she had Vigil? That perk reduces Exposed, so it may have run out on her end
