I hate this perk on console. It's like trying to carry a survivor through a hurricane

Honestly of all the bad perks that had to get a powerful buff like they could've chosen anything else lol

100% not.

Turn your camera to the pattern of the boil over sways. I've been doing this for years and it works for me.
8 -
Well I've heard it's still really difficult to deal with on console. I'm a PC player so I don't know what that's like.
But ignoring that, no, the main problem with it has been addressed. They do need to put the hooks back in RPD library though.

- I wouldn't really say Nerf it compared to putting hooks in high places to circumvent players using this perk to gain hook immunity in maps like Ormond, and RPD. You put a hook or two in the top of Ormond, and the RPD library then this perk will be balanced. Otherwise, remove "Fills your Wiggle Meter by 33 % of your current Wiggle progression upon landing, when the Killer drops from great heights."

Boil over is fine now. I can't deal with it on console neither, but that's my fault because I'm not a good console player. I'm a PC player.

I think it needs to drop back to 75% effect. There are certain times that you can't move. Maybe the wiggle effect could be removed but slightly lower the movement speed of the killer.

No, it's fine as it is now. If it were nerfed any more it would go straight back into the useless perk bin.

Oh hell no

They nerf it.

This
All of this
100% this
I just made a thread about this where I lost about half my hooks on RPD because of that stupid perk and BHVRs insistence to design everything with a Mouse and Keyboard in mind and just forgetting and/or not caring that a large chunk of their player base uses a controller
You can keep all the buffs on it you want but allow me to be able to actually get to a hook that doesn't have a football field wide straight shot to it or else you risk not getting there because you get caught on every. single. little. thing. on. the. way. to. the. hook (and may God have mercy on your soul if you're at an indoor map...)

It didn't need a nerf, but seems like there was unintended consequences with controller.
Boil Over is just a hard perk to buff.

this comment both cracks me up and makes me cry cause it's so true T__T

Boil Over doesn't give a whole lot of value anymore, especially after the new set of nerfs it got in the recent PTB. I wouldn't want them to touch the perk anymore, personally. It's pretty sad considering it's been my favorite perk for the past couple years now.
2 -
wait, what nerfs?
1 -
Honestly of all the bad perks that could've gotten a super powerful buff and it's like really? boil over?
0 -
Yeah I meant controller, my bad. Seeing as this was clearly an issue for that I'm fine with the nerf, personally.
0 -
boil over is fine.
0 -
It's like trying to steer while someone else grabs the controller.
2 -
It's not OP but annoying and I hear that for console players Its like 2x worse so... I don't care they nerfed it honestly because it is just annoying perk to deal with.
0 -
I think it's fine, definitely doesnt need a nerf at all.
I like the idea of more perks being used and being useful. I'm not quite sure why people say it's bad on console, all you have to do is turn your camera so you wiggle in the direction you want to go in

It still has the full strength and then some prerework numbers and its new secondary effect, its still a pain to carry someone with it just was overtuned for consoles because they can't strafe as well as pc while still moving forward. It feels like it didn't need it from pc but consoles just needed some breathing room because of the limited controls

The increased struggle effect it provides is being changed from 50/75/100% to 60/70/80% in the upcoming midchapter. So it's a buff to tier 1, but a nerf to tiers 2 and 3.

thanks, I didn't know that
that perk was never a problem to me, as a killer and a survivor
there's just too many hooks on field, you'd rarely manage to scape the killer's hands, unless you find a dead zone and, as a killer, I would just down the survivor and leave it there forcing a teammate to get him up, wasting time he was supposed to be using on generators.
This is one of those nerfs that was not necessary, one more perk for us to forget it exists

It doesn't need the current nerf. A survivor perk should be able to do something. I hope the PTB change doesn't go through.

No, it's fine. It's annoying to get caught on walls because of it, but we're just gonna have to deal with that.
0 -
I do the same. Once you learn to counter it, it really isn’t as annoying as people make it out to be. And using it as a survivor it really isn’t all that great either lol
1 -
Naaah. When it was buffed it was good on it's own, but now ppl need to run whole builds for it to do it's thing (the struggling out part that is)
0 -
It's fine now, after the last nerf. It's kind of annoying, but if it wasn't, that would mean it wasn't doing much.
It was a whole situation for a while there, though.

The last few times I had to go against an annoying "boil over" (including "bully" SWFs) they ended up bleeding out (and rage-quitting).
I'm guessing it's fine.

Boil over is fine now, it was just annoying trying to hook survivors in RPD.
0 -
I have yet to see it with crossplay off on PC after the nerf. Don't think it needs another nerf.

It's annoying, but only as annoying as bad rng on hook placements. Once I know they have it I make sure I know which way I'm heading before I pick them up again. It's easily countered by Iron Grasp.

I don’t really understand why this perk exists. As killer you win a chase which takes time, you’ve probably had dead hard extend the chase in the first place and then you have to deal with this nonsense. I know it’s not a “big deal” but this perk isn’t like a power struggle where the stars have to line up for it to activate and it isn’t like a well timed flashlight save which is annoying but takes some skill. This is just a mostly useless perk designed to annoy the killer. It’s like, you’ve won the chase can’t you just normally hook the survivor? Is that too much to ask?
Really though the biggest issue imo with Boil Over beyond hooks being unusable or bad hook spawns is that it has that horrible status as a perk that in solo queue is a total waste of time but when used well by a SWF (coupled with body blocking and sabotaging) it can make the game incredibly attritional. Yes, I understand the counter is slugging but it is not fun to have to do that, it’s stressful. Teams that clearly plan for this strategy will often bring other perks to back them up- UB, Exponential, For the People and if you have a hex up and they have soul guard then you’re actually being punished in this situation and you’ll want to destroy your own totem.
I had a game recently where the survivors took me to badham and put an offering on for the basement to be in the shack. Three of them ran boil over, and at least two turned out to be running saboteur. What did this mean? The lower floor of the school was a dead zone. The house was also impossible for me to get out of if someone blocked the doorway, because i couldn’t drop down through the hole in the upper floor of the house due to boil over.
Now you may argue that a good team would cause these problems without boil over. This is probably true. And of course I understand this was a situation unlikely to occur beyond a a handful of games over a course of time. But this is my issue with some of the stuff in this game. Either the devs don’t consider that some seemingly innocuous things in the game, in this case perks and map offerings can make life hell for the other side, or they do consider it and they just don’t care. This perk has massive exploit potential when used in this manner and the only counter is slugging. Is that the kind of gameplay the devs want?
