New Perk/Gameplay Changes and Legion

Good morning/evening DBD players,

I'd like to preface by saying I think most of the new changes coming to the game are for the best and will (hopefully) make the game feel more balanced and fun for both sides.

However, I have a concern regarding the new gen speeds and perk buffs against certain killers - specifically Legion. I've singled them out as they arguably have the strongest ability in terms of getting survivors injured quickly and experienced Legion players will use a build that complements this ability (most commonly: Thanatophobia). I've been watching some of my favorite DBD content creators who've created builds specifically around gen slow down on Legion using perks such as Thana, Call of Brine, Overcharge, etc and the match outcome always seems to be significantly killer sided, particularly in the PTB with the buffed gen speeds.

Now don't get me wrong, Legion look super cool and their lore is awesome. I understand why people would choose to play them, but I don't think their gameplay is particularly fun or engaging for the survivor side. I say this as playing against them feels like a mending simulator, but now with buffed gen speeds and buffed gen slow-down perks seemingly becoming meta (Overcharge, for example), survivors will spend most of the game either mending/healing, or playing skillcheck simulator against ridiculously slow gen progression bars. Even if you remove some of the newly buffed perks, Legion + new gen speeds + thanatophobia is going to be really tough to verse as a survivor.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I dont mind legion. Hes a weak version of plague basically. He has no chasing power whatsoever. So the legion player can fill their perk slots with full slowdown perks, but then they’ll have nothing to help with chases.

The only thing about legion is his matches are gonna be a snooze fest from now on. But then u can always waste their time in loops, what is legion gonna do? Use feral frenzy? Lol

(btw dont heal constantly against legion waste of time)

I find it really ironic that the devs nerfed Freddy's add-ons to the ground because of the slowdown stacking so heavily, and then proceed to give killers a build that is far worse than anything big boy Freddy had back then.

People always say Thana + legion is dumb meanwhile thana + plague is 50x worse

If content creator plays killer it's always expected to be killer sided, simply because they are content creator and playing this game a lot.

Honestly I suspect it to not be as bad as people think, if it's just thana gens still fly like usual and if he combine it with dying light/pentimento it takes a lot more time to make it work.

True, but I only singled out Legion as (I could be wrong) but don't more people play them? I say this also from experience as, since their buff, I verse so many Legion's running Thana.

Oh. My. GODS. Legion has been bullied and beaten ever since they came out, and they have never actually been an amazing killer. With the perk changes they are finally getting some indirect buffs that make them stronger, and people are freaking out about it? About LEGION? Let the poor little teenagers shine for once, everyone should get their day in the sun.

…but legion is still bad bro. Ghosty was buffed but hes still bad as well. Both need other buffs 👀 not gen slowdown indirect crap

Oh I agree, I would like to see both of them get some serious retooling, I'm just amazed people are complaining about one of the lowest tier killers getting a little bit stronger.

I'd say the issue isn't the perks as much as gens not being interactive as the survivors only objective.

The devs had the chance to rework the survivor objective with this massive perk changes and they didn't.

I mean, thana is one of the few things Leg has going for them. And its boring. They should be asking for retooling like u said. Now nerfing is a joke lmao

I hardly said anything that was remotely in the realms of 'freaking out': I don't take it that seriously 😂

I have absolutely no problem with any killer receiving buffs, especially when they need it most. If you read my post, my issue isn't with Legion's power or their buff, but rather the gameplay from a survivor perspective as Thana on killers who keep survivors injured (Legion, Plague) is already tedious without the buffs. Now with the increased penalties and increased gen-times, it's going to be even worse. As I said, it'll be a non-step skill-check and progress bar simulator: not exactly fun or immersive is it?

The Thana buff is only like 0.5% more slowdown per stack.

Yes, but you need to see the bigger picture here.

90s gens (10sec extra) + 22% Slowdown on thana + Dying Light + 16% slow from buffed Hook perk + Mending + etc.

Gj, now gens can take up to 2 mins or longer. Fun!

Yeahh, I'm a little worried about this too. Maybe this won't really be an issue later on, but it feels like Legion matches might get even more boring. Even if Legion is still a "bad killer," and even if it's still easy to win against him, it's not gonna change the fact that holding M1 on a gen for two minutes (or sometimes holding M1 on the mend bar wow!) is just not very engaging. Moreover, you have to rely on the fact that your SoloQ teammates /also/ know that they need to be maximally efficient or else the game's a goner. Forever Freddy was incredibly boring to play against, half because holding M1 on a gen is boring, but also half because it was tedious to defeat. I fear that will be the same with Legion in the future.

generator problem, it's already 90 seconds as a base too.

They are not stronger. They just prolong the game even more. And longer game means more ressources gone so that even a weakish Killer like Legion has it easier to get Downs.

    @Topic:

Yeah, really concerned about this. Legion stacking 4 Slowdown-Perks (including Thana) + increased Mending Time will really become annoying. And I dont see people actually playing this out if Gens take 110 seconds to complete with Thana alone + more Slowdown on top. Legion-games are already pretty miserable and boring (most of the time you dont even get to be chased because you just get stabbed and they run off).

When the changes go live I will probably go for a super-slowdown Build, just to see how it is like. I expect quite a lot of suicides and DCs.
