Why so many survivors don't bring items?

I don't get it. Farmed for the last two weeks billions of bloodpoints and still people don't even bring a brown toolbox or medkit. Items what could make massive change in game by saboing a hook or finishing a gen few seconds faster or having that one heal. You all so cheap?

Yeah, I don’t understand when people don’t at least use brown or yellow offerings or items. They’re cheap as dirt and have no downside, why not use them?

  • Member Posts: 46

    Because I had 100 medkits.

Now I have only 36. I can't use them. I keep them for the hidden secret boss after the special event boss after the last boss.

They believe they're playing Resident Evil.

I stopped using items long ago. On the rare occasion I'll bring a map or a medkit but I found that bringing items all the time just resulted in me losing a bunch of items I didn't get to use. Franklins demise is another reason I don't bring items. If you get hit your item is going to lose charges and you still have to lose the killer and find your item again. Other than that, its just the amount of camping and tunneling that happens in the game that make items for me not really worth using. I can't tell you how many millions of BPs worth of items I have lost to items I didn't even get to use. I've said before that if you die in a match but don't use any charges on the item you brought that you should keep the item. I don't see that happening, so I just stopped bringing items.

This made me laugh! 😂 Item management in Resident Evil is no joke.

cuz getting a rng item from chest is more fun

How long could 109 brown tool boxes last you if you bring one every game? What if you got a tome challenge that needs you to deplete 6 tool boxes? Even with "Build to last" this will be at least two boxes. This is dangerous, man!

    I'm a hoarder. I also just don't use Add-ons on killer.

  • Member Posts: 6,226

It's true. We can detect them from miles away. They smell like lemons.

I tend to not bring any items unless Im playing with friends. Randoms have a nasty habit of quitting early. So why waste a perfectly good item on someone who doesnt deserve it?

    Because I need 210 yellow toolboxes because……..

I farmed the BP's to prestige everyone. So lost all those items again and again for glitter

You'll be getting invisible-to-you glitter portraits from me and that's it 😤 (kidding)

    1. I'm a hoarder
    2. If I bring a toolbox, it'll be strictly for sabo. Speeding through gens is boring.
    3. I don't feel like you need items to win so i see no reason to bring them
  • Member Posts: 59

Because I've repeatedly been tunneled for bringing common toolboxes. Legit have killers get pissy over OP items when I last-minute equip a common toolbox without any add-ons. The one toolbox that can give a teeny repair boost at best, and takes too long to feasibly pull off a sabo save. It's useful for faster Rookie Spirit value, or a toolbox/sabo challenge, and that's it. But it is somehow still too strong.

Side-note: if you see someone bringing a broken key without add-ons, that's me. I brought it because I expect to die and my inventory deserves better than that useless thing.

SHUT UP YOU MARVELOUSLY LOGICAL BEING! This entire time I could have been using Built to Last for those item depletion challenges? You have blown my mind

  • Member Posts: 5,923

I was hoarding until I got spoiled by medkits. Now I bring one in most of my games.

For not wasting them in a game if I'm being tunneled or camped.

That's my reason at least, haha.

It's a nonsense, because with that mindset I never use items and save them for using never, but idk.

I only bring items when I have a tome challenge related with them.

EDIT. My Feng Min, the only survivor I play.

Because I like to hoard items and I play solo, so I know there's only like a 2% chance I'm going to get it back.

    Franklins

  • Member Posts: 944

Imagine if items were free and everyone was forced to bring one, would make solo Q better honestly, current system is bad very often its 4 naked players VS iri add ons.

It's the same reason players don't bring flan everything reward killers massively, you bring an offering and you always play against some BS like starstruck nurse who try her hardest to early slug everyone

I personally stopped bringing items, using exhaustion perks and meta stuff (sometimes unbreakable but I just somehow always get games when using it where the killer doesn't slug), because I know how it feels to play as killer against that stuff.

Sometimes I bring a medkit with one heal or two when in swf, to make sure to be able to safely unhook in endgame. Or other stuff because of an archive.

I've lost everything once, I will not lose them again

  • Member Posts: 5,502

:D The more you know, right? Yes, with "Build to Last" you can take one crappy brown tool box/med kit and gain 4 steps on any completion challenge in one trial. Its not even throwing the game or something. Sure, you are not playing optimally, but that tool box can add up. You could also use a big tool box and gain extreme value out of that.

I don't bring Items because I'm that forehead that runs straight to the killer's arms. So I die a lot :)

    Keys are bad

If I want to see totems I'll just use small game not a map

Toolboxes are meh? Hell brand new part is bugged

    I'll usually bring green medkits

I'll only use flashlights for challenges or when I feel like playing like an ass

  • Member Posts: 3,347

    I'm a hoarder, simple as.

The only exception is the basic yellow flashlight. It's abundant and fun to use even though I don't go out of my way to force the use of it, but it's surprising how often the opportunity to go for a save comes up anyway. Otherwise I just go empty handed and grab a chest if I stumble upon one.

I don’t want to get tunneled, though I should start since tunneling is now about 50% of my matches these days.

I won’t bring toolboxes though, unless it’s for a challenge. I think we blast out gens fast enough when my teammates are semi competent.

  • Member Posts: 3,302

If I see 2 or more toolboxes, I aint going to give the killer a 3rd/4th to deal with. I pretty much only use items for challenges.

  • Member Posts: 114

Ok, to all the horders - you just watch the numbers go up and think "nice". Never gonna use it any of this, but numbers are nice.

Everytime I do "deplete toolbox" challenge the only thought in my head is "wish this stupid challenge didn't exist so I could heal with a medkit and go for a rescue". I don't know, I don't get why people willingly nerf themselves so hard. For killers I get it, it's easy to steam roll 90% of dbd players and some sort of challenge from time to time is nice to have. But for solo q.... Not so much. You need to take everything you got to escape at least once in 10 games.

I don't bring in items because of all the tunneling, camping and Franklin's.

  • Member Posts: 2,986

Exactly! I never bring Flan, Sacrificial cakes or bloody party streamers because of this. I hoard everything. Lol
