What buffs to solo que are coming?
Keep seeing people say that bhvr have stated that they are going to make some improvements to solo que but what are they? Are they actually adding base kit perks or ping systems? After the across the board buffs to killers it's pretty worrying how much more solo que players will suffer to bad mannered killers abusing the nature of solo ques complete lack of information available to players queing individually. The fact that they didn't address camping but only tunneling leaves these players still incredibly vulnerable to such tactics by killers and it's regularly seen in every play session. Five second borrowed time is trivial when just getting to the hook and being at risk of getting grabbed off hook is ever present, there's absolutely zero incentives for killers not to camp and are even more rewarded for doing so with the reduction in m1 attacks.
Seems pretty out of touch for the dev team to release such buffs while not also bringing much needed changes to solo que players, they are surely going to be used and abused more than ever after the update goes live.

They announced around February they were looking at solo q but I think it's now cancelled. Shame because it's the thing I was most looking forward too.

Devs probably weren't happy with the kill rates. So until that gets fixed, solo buffs might be on the back burner.

It is shame to boost kill rates with solos.
They did not fix issues with SWF teams and maps.

Well, any buff to solos is unavoidable a buff to SWF. Which already has a 15% higher escape rate than solos.
Understandably, they don't want to punish people for playing with their friends.
So unless they find a way to give solos the same real time information as SWF on coms have...

This survivor action portraits looked good buffs for solo-q. It would not help SWFs because they are already sharing information with each other.

As I said, they probably weren't happy with the kill rates. Just imagine if solos had the same escape rates as SWF.
Killers would have to receive massive buffs.

Look into Peanits recent comments. There's one about the roadmap being all that we'll get this year and that solo Q improvements are on the back burner until after that.
So, there will be nothing for solos for at least a year.

Peanits said there are no solo buffs planned for this year, but the plans are not scratched.
I think instead of postponing the buffs for the next year, which is really gonna hurt soloQ if we have to wait for so long, they can just slowly introduce small soloQ buffs. There's nothing wrong with giving us chase indicator for all survivors for a start. That's not a massive update, it doesn't need much time to implement or test. And then slowly release more updates and tweak the general killer vs survivor balance if needed.
I have little hopes that it's gonna happen, but who knows.

The chase indicator would be incredibly easy to implement, considering the code already exists for the obsession. Just copy -paste that and make the claws smaller for the other survivors.
Which means it will take bhvr at least 2 years to make it happen.

With kill rates already being below expectations, buffing solos to SWF levels first, seems like a great idea to get rid of a frustrated killer base.

A little while ago, BHVR shared one idea they had, of showing what actions your teammates are performing with little icons next to their portrait. That's the only concrete thing that they've shared, not that it's a guarantee they're going to go through with it, and solo queue buffs have officially been put on the back burner for a bit so they can focus on some other things.
In the meantime, the upcoming patch will make things a little easier for you since tunnelling took a heavy hit, so you'll mostly just have camping to worry about. Combined with a few decent perk buffs, it's not ideal, but better than nothing, at least imo.

Let's crunch some numbers for the sake of the argument.
Kill rate is expected to be around 50%. Devs explaining that it's actually below expectations, means that it's probably somewhere around 40-45% (give or take a couple percent). So if SWF has a 15% higher escape rate and you want to bring solos to SWF levels. Then we'll end up with a kill rate around 25-30%.
Devs are cautious, when it's about interpreting data. So changes would take between 3 to 6 months before they go live.
Do you really think, killers would be motivated to stick around, if they get 1k for a prolonged period?
*disclaimer: the above numbers are a rough estimate and could actually be (much) lower or (slightly) higher. But have to be lower than 50%.

So why is it bad for killer players to wait for buffs because "no killers would be left" but it is totally fine to make solo q unbearable?

I said it before and I’ll say it again.
If buffing solo means guaranteeing me that I will be paired up with a competent player. Then sure let them buff. If it means that we will have built in kindred so I can watch their aura crouching around doing nothing, I don’t want it. Thanks

Not if this means that for whatever reason they feel the need to buff killers when they don’t need to.
Because then you’ll end up with that kind of bad teammate and an overpowered killer that shouldn’t be.

BHVR should definetely prioritize matchmaking imo.
All the information in the world won't help you if you still get claudettes self caring in a corner against Legion as teammates

My point is that I don’t see how the slight advantage SWF gets warrants a buff on killer and a buff to solo because most of the problems solo has stems from teammates refusing to do the objective and lacking experience. I don’t see how showing them auras (as an example) is going to force them to do what they already do not want to do.
Also, If you showed auras in any way in solo that is already better than SWF because with SWF things are still nuanced. As in, you saying the killer is on me isn’t the same as actually seeing an aura. As an example.
This isn’t the right move IMO. They need to fix Matchmaking is what they need to do.

And in the real world... or did you miss the part where the devs said, that kill rates are below expectations. Which would be 50%?

The devs said, and conveniently forgot to show graph stats for it? Kinda weird on how we always get graphs for every stats, we even had for most used perks, but we didnt get one showing that survivors had above 50% escape rate. Which I believe they do maybe, but die to solo q? No. Solo Q is already under 50%.

They actually did show the graph below of escape rates by party size a couple of years ago. Basically there's historically a net 10% survival rate difference between survivors in solo queue and ones in 4-person swfs.

So, if killers are performing below expectation against the entirety of survivors, and a portion of survivors are underperforming, which would you try and fix first? An underperforming portion of a population that is, overall, performing better than should be average, or an entire population that is performing beneath expectations?

You can buff killers at the same rate you improve solo q.

BHVR has shown they cannot/will not do that. Mori vs key/hatch changes is a prime example.

Can you explain more? How can certain players receive a buff? Know what I mean? How would BHVR be able to change the game so that only solo queue players benefit? Can you give an example/hypothetical scenario of what it would look like?
