Who do you think will be the next character for LGBT representation?

For me gender non-conformity always was part of the + as well though. And as far as i know it has never been set in stone like that and has been expanded.
0 -
That’s fair and fine. My problem is it being under LGBT+ representation.
1 -
You're almost about to discover that everybody can't like you / support you, it's the same for everyone and you can't do anything about it because that's how people are, you could try as much as you'd want it's just not possible.
0 -
Um. I would consider being killed for being LGBT+ as oppression.

I'll bring my bf on a layer flight omg this is gonna be such a nice permanent holiday, maybe they'll even have cows
1 -
Transvestites isn’t the same thing as trans/transgender/transexual. It’s actually considered a slur against trans people.
1 -
I'm really hoping we can get a trans character next. Or maybe NB/genderfluid. I see a lot more gay representation out there than I did ten years ago (lesbian secondary, unfortunately, but it's still fairly emergent), but while sexualities are getting more comfortable in the mainstream, gender... really isn't. At least, it's nowhere near as far along. Mainstream trans rep in particular is virtually nowhere to be found. I can't overstate enough just how impactful the sheer normalizing power of representation in media is. Exposure passively gets people more comfortable with concepts they don't understand to the point where they stop recognizing them as divergent or 'other.'
Also, when Ace Claudette got brought up, I had to do a double take because that headcanon is so firmly entrenched that I forgot it wasn't actual canon. Look, I read one really amazing DBD fanfic and it got duct-taped to the inside of my head, okay. But seriously, yes - as another ace woman, it fits Claudette to a T.

you're about to discover that you can't bring hate crimes on any community to 0 %, and as something get draw more attention, the risk of growing said crimes also rise.
0 -
Then I can see where you’re coming from then. But you agree that cross dressers deserve some kind of representation too?
1 -
In which case people there still experience oppression because the majority still cause irreparable damage to the minority community through harm and other criminal activities motivated by spite.
Rendering your comment than nobody in Canada experiences oppression for being LGBT wrong. Tell the people being killed for being trans that they aren't being oppressed.
1 -
Sure, as long as it isn’t the representation we get related to LGBT+ people.
0 -
But the original terms wasn't a slur. It wasn't even used for trans people
It was a non derogatory term to describe cross dressers
0 -
I completely agree, what a good plan
3 -
You'll have to trust me that when a person who's been affected by a slur, or is part of a minority group who's been affected by a slur, says that something is a harmful slur, it's normally best to agree and move on. It may have started out as harmless but believe me, at least in the UK, that word has some abhorrent connotations.

Yes, I do admit that no country have 0 oppression against the lgbt. Such is the same for jewish people, muslim, and much more.
Because, sadly, it's impossible to live in a country where everyone support each other.
1 -
Just so we're clear you're admitting you're wrong here? Because I've been through this song and dance too many times to not double check
1 -
They can have the seat behind Gay Little Birb !!
1 -
Your right.
I'm going to blame the homophobic and transphobic people for taking a harmless word and twisting it to be derogatory.
Although I do feel there should be a word to better classify cross-dressers

This is all I want.
Gay/Lesbian/Bi people already have representation in a lot of media, but trans people I rarely see anything. There’s one trans man in the game Tell Me Why and one in the show Shameless but besides that I don’t know of anything else.
With the increase in representation it normalises people and also educates the ones who are unaware.
If you tell someone you’re gay, it is pretty clear what you mean by that.
I hope you day the same can be said about being trans. Just being another addictive to who you are without having to explain what it is/means.

Yes, I do admit I was wrong on this, I thought you wanted a country that was really tolerant, not a country where litteraly no oppression existed since it's near impossible.
I don't know why you felt the need to screenshot it, after all we're adult I guess, we can recognize when we're wrong.

You say that, but I've been on these Forums for like 4 years now, and I think I'm the longest-standing active non-BHVR member there is so you'll have to trust me that I've met so many people in this community who are completely incapable of admitting to being wrong it's actually surprising.
1 -
I'm in the same boat as you.
But it makes you icky because the way it has been changed by homophobic and transphobic people to be derogatory when the original use of the word wasn't like that.
So I'm going to blame them

Save a space for my bf but outside of that I'm all for this idea
Noah's Ark but on a plane
1 -
I don't see what's wrong with admitting being wrong, it's not an ego tournament where admitting being wrong meant you'd be executed, it's just a video game forum.
0 -
Idk if you've heard of it but I'm almost certain that the main character in Celeste is confirmed to be trans
1 -
I don't see the problem with admitting being wrong on a video game forum, or even in real life.
1 -
Me neither but the community seems to avoid it like the plague
Not the killer, just to clarify.

As you clearly figured out by now, english is not my first language.
So yes, it sometimes is a bit clunky, don't need to make a fuss about it, especially when in a debate.
That's just straight up bullying at this point.

@Marigoria I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude or inconsiderate.
0 -
You didn’t it’s all good
1 -
Very wholesome. Just wish most of the DBD community can be like this and accept the fact that we can all still be friends even if we disagree with things. Y’all keep setting a good example.
4 -
Ah, this is the thread you've mentioned earlier.
0 -
Yes as you can tell from the number of pages it’s gotten quite eventful in here.
0 -
Yes, I see.
Though we knew this would happen.
0 -
Oh I definitely did lol.
0 -
Yeah, unfortunately it always happens.
No place like the Forums, eh?
0 -
And the fact I almost have 9000 posts here is scary to me 😭
0 -
The fact that I am back here, willingly, scares me.
0 -
Well anyway I’m sure the forums are glad to have you back c:
0 -
I can say the same to you :)
What would the Forums be without you, my friend?
0 -
You may want to take your own advice. lol No insecurities here. Nobody's race, gender or sexuality bothers me, especially when we are talking about real people as I believe everyone should be treated with decency. I'm more concerned with the growing mental health of those obsessed with representation in games and fiction. It's not healthy.
6 -
That’s very touching to hear ☺️
1 -
Nothing but the truth c:
1 -
Yay forum friends
3 -
It sounds incredibly guttural... Historically, it was used for mental disorder diagnoses, so not exactly a good word to use when referring to trans people.
0 -
Why is wanting representation unhealthy? People like having characters that they can personally relate to, regardless of medium.
1 -
It was unfortunately taking as a word used to diagnose mental disorders when on reality it was made by a sexologist who was an advocate for homosexual and transgender rights
It sucks so much how a word that was positively used for people too identify themselves has been changed to be derogatory
0 -
Can I ask genuinely?
What's so wrong with accurate and good representation in media especially since in the past media representation of certain groups have be extremely harmful and incorrect
0 -
It really is, that's the unfortunate thing about language, sometimes the original meaning can be lost, and replaced with something quite negative.
1 -
there must be something wrong with me since I can relate to all kinds of different characters from fiction without them even being close to resembling me in rl/sexuality/gender/skin color/nationality/religion/age
