So I tried out ghostface....
Wow. I'm both in love but at the same time am so frustrated with this killers power. I love the stalking and being able to one hit down singlular people. And the aspect of 99ing people's stalk meter.
But holy christ can we please just fix the fact that people can full on reveal me through solid objects. Like I get revealed, and look around for the killer instinct only to see the person is like fully crouched behind a car, or full behind a jungle gym wall. Like.... what is this?

Its been "fixed". This is the best they can do about reveal mechanics, enjoy

Haven't people been saying it's literally worse than before? How is this the best they can do if it's worse?
5 -
BHVR's best does typically just end up being worse, eg the "75% grind reduction" that made it worse for newer players.
8 -
Keep in mind survivors see in third person perspective so it's possible for them to see over an object without you seeing them yourself.
6 -
This. Play survivor and you'll see why. After all, the mechanic has to be fair for both sides.
If you want to prevent getting revealed, you need to be the one hiding behind obstacles.

So then it should be tied to LoS... if the survivors character can't physically see me than it shouldn't reveal me. Hell clearly they can do LoS tricks because new spine chill is only working specifically if the killer has LoS so I don't see why they can do the same.
1 -
You're missing the point. Survivors play in 3rd person, if they're behind certain objects they can see you. Killers play in 1st person, so it's easier to implement LoS.
"If the survivors character can't physically see me..." There is no point using real life logic to try and justify changes. How can survivors heal themselves after having a hook through their chest? Why can't the killer stab the survivors to death? Why can't survivors jump or lay down? It's a video game, it isn't real life.

The reveal mechanic is one of the big deterrents for me to not even bother trying GF.

It's worse only for the killer player... As survivor you can reveal him like before the "fix" while as killer there was an exploit (I won't say how it could be used for obvious reasons) that allowed to reset your reveal meter to 0 (essentially your were "unspottable")... They rightly remove that exploit, but they didn't fixed the problem at the basis

I think it's fine at this point tbh. It's kinda strange. First he was able to be revealed instantly then they changed it up and it was impossible to reveal him (looking right at him didn't do anything) then they balanced it out a little bit and I thought that was going to be the final change to reveal because it was pretty food but for some reason they made it easier to reveal, but it still isn't terrible. That's what crouch is for. Crouch behind objects to cancel reveal.

yes they actually nerfed ghostface in the same patch that was supposed to buff him (and it did terrible job at that as well)
he's way too easy to be revealed now this killer is not in any way fun to play anymore they gutted him.

Yeah man is that or when you expose a survivor they will drop every single pallet in the game, literally I cannot play Ghostface with out brutal strength.

The reveal mechanic is why I dislike playing as or against ghostface. It just feels unintuitive and silly as hell in many cases.

Im a ghostface main. I can confirm that survivors reveal me through solid walls all the time. We are not talking about them ducking down behind something short. We are talking walls higher than the killer, even walls all the way to a ceiling. Sometimes you simply get revealed literally through solid walls.

I've been playing Ghostface recently and it hasn't really been much of a problem for me.

I've never had a survivor reveal me literally through a solid wall. (Walls with cracks or windows is another story.)

I'll post up a video today if I remember.

My biggest gripe with Ghost Face isn't that. Note that your mark lasts 60 seconds, and you can stalk them from afar so they can't reveal you. Sometimes it's better to just apply marks to create some pressure than trying to 99, failing, getting revealed, wasting time.
No, my biggest gripe is that his stupid floating cloth stips make it drastically easier to spot you coming, you can even see GhostFace who's trying to stalk around corner.
The other thing is after hooking someone, you can't even use your power till you break line of sight. Really clunky and annoying. How about just making the person on hook not able to reveal, but make GF get revealed twice as fast when near a hook, and from 50% more distance? I'd be okay with that. Just feels weird that a stealth killer isn't allowed to stealth and prepare another ambush right after hooking.

Here's an example. I clearly break line of sight, but despite breaking line of sight, the reveal progress continues to progress. The moment I get revealed, I immediately stop and turn around. Survivor has no way of seeing me from that location. The second example, survivors need to be able to see 20% of GF in order to start to reveal him. I stalked behind the wall. Despite cracks in the walls, that isn't nearly 20% of GF. Additionally, once I turn the corner and go up the stairs, you hear the reveal progress CONTINUE to progress despite there not being ANY line of sight.
The bug appears to be that once line of sight is broken, progress continues for an additional second or two. This is likely due to client server communication, but it's consistently an issue enough that they should at least increase the reveal timer by a second to compensate. It's almost impossible to break line of sight, especially with GF getting nerfed where survivors slowly lose reveal progress now instead of instant when breaking line of sight.

For every time you get revealed behind a wall, a survivor stares directly at you from 7 feet away and gets exposed with 0 reveal. Perfectly balanced.

The problem is in making Ghostface's reveal more consistent they failed to realize it's now incredibly easy to pull him out of his power. If they increased the time to reveal him to 2 or 2.5 seconds it would probably feel much better.

My guess it was latency kind of like you said. You were in line of sight at the beginning and then went around the corner, so it might be that the actual reveal started a touch earlier than it appeared to on your screen and you ended up being considered still in line of sight on their screen even though you were around the corner on yours at the end.

Nothing like taking one of the worst killers in the game, not addressing the core problems they have, then 'buffing' them in ways that either do nothing to improve their play experience (Clown, Trapper) or in ways that actually end up nerfing them (Ghostface, lunge-nerfed Wraith).
It's almost like the balance team has no idea how to do their jobs!

Here's an example of someone else I found online. They are a survivor. They reveal Ghostface even though he's completely off-screen. It's silly.

It looked like he was onscreen and right next to Bill?

I tried like 2 matches with him and immediately regretted my purchase. His reveal mechanic is suuuuper clunky and stupid, most maps arent even good with him, and the amount of restrictions when you play is just unfun.

He wasn't looking at him. It was supposed to be where the fov where he can revealed wad increased slightly. However, it's functioning where if he's anywhere on the screen which isn't correct. You'll hear the reveal progress also even while ghostface is entirely off the screen if you listen closely.

I don’t know, it looks to me like he was in the mid-right corner of the screen stalking him.

May have to slow down the footage, but you'll hear the reveal progress progressing while they are running towards the door despite gf not being on screen, and much of the progress overall certainly didn't have him 20 percent visible, and he certainly isn't towards the center of the screen how he's supposed to be revealed. He isn't supposed to get revealed when he's anywhere on the survivors screen. It's supposed to be when he's in the center or a bit off center. This is him getting revealed at the complete sides of the screen.

I can’t really hear that sound but it definitely looked like he’s on screen pretty much the whole time. Whether there’s a bug involving him only being partially on screen triggering a reveal when it supposedly shouldn’t is another topic, but in terms of “revealing through a wall” this definitely doesn’t look like an example of that.

First of all welcome to the Club! *Aplauses*
Second of all HAHA!!! You're a Opps i lost my power cause they looked at me killer! *Shame!*

Oh naw, the reveal through wall was my earlier post. The video from survivor point of view is just showing how it's definitely broken , as they shouldn't be revealed when gf is on the sides of the screen. Not only can he be revealed through walls, but he can also be revealed without looking in his direction. It's just overall bugged at the moment making it extremely hard to ever stay in stalk mode.

Ah I see, I thought you were trying to show a through the wall example, I misunderstood.
Yeah, it’s certainly possible there are some small hiccups in the whole “is the killer fully in the survivor’s field of view” thing. In that clip Bill is in view but it’s mostly just his head, I think, in the beginning? Hard to see since it’s really dark in that part of the room. I don’t remember there being a thing about Ghost face has to be in some 45 degree arc in the field of view or whatever, I thought it was just a check on what portion of the Ghost Face hit box was visible, so I’ll have to take your word for that.

Aye, it used to be the center of the screen, but in the ghostface addon overhaul patch, they nerfed him and made the angle to reveal him slightly wider. I can't find the patch notes that have the exact degrees, but one of the patch recaps states
- Added in differentiation of the sighting zone (the zone in your screen where the target must be to be revealed or stalked) for killers and survivors to better account for the differences between 1st and 3rd person cameras
- Made it possible to reveal Ghost Face / stalk Survivors when they are not in the center of the screen but still take up a large amount of the screen
So generally, ghostface should be in the center of the screen to start getting revealed, but what classified as the center was widened in the update.
