Why is reporting people so inefficient in this game?
Customer service bot: "Thank you. We'd also like to make a note of your Cloud ID. We won't be able to locate your report without it."
Customer service bot: "You'll find this by heading into the "settings" menu in-game, then scrolling down. Click the eye button to reveal it."
Me: Clicks out to the menu to get it.
Customer service bot: "Who are you reporting today? If you are reporting a Steam User, we'd appreciate a link to their profile."
Why would I be told this info AFTER being told to get my cloud ID by going to the main menu? Also, why do I have to do all of this just to report ONE player (who I have already reported). The report system sucks so bad. Why is it so incredibly inefficient?
Another thing that makes this annoying is that you cannot check steam to see players you have played with recently in dead by daylight. This makes reporting people even worse as now you can't go to any person's profile who you just played with.
You as a victim are forced to fill out loads of all kinds of information outside the game just to report one guy. If not then the offender goes unpunished. The reporting system is bad. I am so frustrated by this.

99% of reporting is for things that is not against the rules like camping/tunneling/tbagging etc, so real issues will drown in the ocean.

fr someone reported me for camping because spirit's husk (they thought it was me) was near the hook.

I gave up. If I encounter a hacker I'll try to go next as soon as possible, or DC if held hostage. I won't bother wasting MY time with this horrible report system any longer, considering they don't seem to put any effort into improving it somehow

I gave up on the report system ages ago I would love to report some survivor teammates that were harassing and body blocking me
There isn't a point when the report functions either don't work or have you fill out way to much information that it is worth the effort

It's terrible and really needs a total overhaul. I've never seen a report system as cumbersome and ultimately defunct as Dead By Daylight's. It lacks so many functions that are essential to an in-game report system. Hell, the fact alone that in-game reports have to be supplemented with a secondary report to their website is bogus.
And filling out information isn't enough - if you didn't record the match (or the specific offense) as it was happening, your report is meaningless and will be discarded. And that's fine enough, if still far more demanding than it has any right to be, if it's an ongoing thing like someone blocking you in a corner for an hour or a cheater screaming and flying around the entire map. But for something like a teammate selling you out to the killer, or sandbagging you by dropping pallets/fast vaulting and then leaving - by the time you've pulled up recording software, it's over. Same if you catch a cheater flying under the map or teleporting with an aura reading perk or while hooked/downed, but you don't have the opportunity to witness it again because your aura reading doesn't coincide with their cheating for the rest of the match, and they're smart enough not to cheat while people are watching. Heck, if you get one of those bot killers that immediately Omae Wa Mou Shindeirus the whole team, the match will be over by the time you start your recording.
If DBD had any ability to tell what was going on in its own matches, as it rightly should, this would not be necessary.

Because a lot of people false report real reports often rarely get seen or handled.

I get the recording bit because they want proof but it is pretty ridiculous. I had a killer body block a teammate in a corner for the match. I only went over after we had 3 gens pop one after the other. Myself and 2 other teammates went over, tried to get killer to move but wouldn't. 3 of us not blocked finished gens and left. After I left I spectated a bit to see if killer moved at all but he didn't. Since I'm on PS4 I hit save video but when I went to check it started just as I was leaving the survivor so barely showed them in corner with crows. I sent screen shot showing that since video moved so quick it was easy to miss.
Hopefully killer was punished but tech issues like that happen and it sucks that on top of an already tedious process that it could all be for nothing thanks to recordings not starting where you need them to. Pretty sure they shut off the ability to record on switch to help with performance issues so they're screwed if they need to report anything.

That system doesn't even get looked at lol you have to repost footage on here directly to the devs.

Remembee that recent poll? They asked which features we want upgraded? The in-game reporting system was one of the options. Hopefully the community voted that option up enough for the reportimg system to get an overhaul. I voted it 3rd most important thing I want to see upgraded.

I've been reported HUNDREDS of times for cheating when using Mad Grit.
People report issues that are not real, they think it's league and they can report someone just for saying gg, cuz they think it was out of spite.

Same here

Sadly even if action is taken, it's never enough. Most happily gloat about their "ban" like a badge of honor and are right back to it the moment the temporary punishment ends.

I agree. I suggested that they at least fix the Block function. Essentially, both Block and Report are worthless... all it does is block the individual from messaging you on that specific name. A more efficient use of Block would be if the function prevented you from being matched with that person again.

People would use that to only play with weaker killers, or end up messing with the matchmaking.

They could add a 6 month block or something like that. Something that resets every now and again.

I think that is just a band-aid fix to a mediocre problem. The problem here is people blocking killers they don't want to play against which in the end really is not a huge issue, and during that time it could still be impactful in a bad way.

I mean I've noticed a major difference between the survivors that I get matched with (most of the time) and the survivors that I get matched with when I play as Killer. It's day and night and the difference is noticeable.
