The Dredge is one of my favorite killers right now

Seriously, everything about it is great.

It has a power that allows for both map travel and countering loops, but there are mindgames involved, which is great. I love putting my remnant out of survivor's sight and surprising them when they don't even know I can teleport there.

Even though its power can be really strong in certain situations, it comes with means for the survivors to counter it, BUT ALSO with means for YOU to counter their counter (breaking locks, mindgaming survivors to push them off loops to the direction you want them to go, teleporting out of sight). That makes the Dredge a really balanced killer. I think it's a high B tier, but can be a low A depending on the map and the add-ons you're using.

But the part I like the most: it brought HORROR back to Dead by Daylight. No other killer in the game is so horrifying. Not only it has jumpscares, but also a dreadful appearance (or must I say dredgeful?), being the first non-humanoid killer in the game, and Nightfall, the coolest passive ability in the history of this game, making the map dark and forcing everyone to hear all those cries of agony in the darkness.

Most people won't be scared of the game anyway, of course, but the Dredge brings an horror atmosphere this game really needed.

The only thing I don't like, which keeps it from being my favorite killer of all time, is the map dependency, since bad locker placement can really screw your power over. Still, most of the time it's an insanely fun killer to play, with one of the most awesome concept and designs in Dead by Daylight. By the way, why can't we use profile pictures for any character released after Resident Evil DLC? I want my Dredge profile pic!

I agree he's one of my favorites just due to his aesthetic. I don't care how strong or weak he is, he looks horrific which is fantastic, and all of his little sounds and passive screams just add to that horror aspect in a way that no other killer does.

I wish more killers had built in things like that with passive screams or cries of pain, or maybe just the maps having more character like that. It'd be nice to bring it back to it's horror roots

Nightfall is very terrifying to be in, in a good way. He’s very unique and I really love it. I also think the devs did a great job with him

For me Dredge is low A tier probably. And I agree, Dredge is one of the best designed killers in my opinion. He has great map pressure, that helps him with getting survivors off of gens, and his anti-loop is decent, but not particularly strong, leaving survivors with quite a lot of fair counterplay. He's just all around a very fun killer.

Right now, there is just one problem I have with him, and it's quite the big one. It's the stupid and unnecessary vignette effect on the screen of survivors during Nightfall, which darkens the edges of the screen, and makes seeing unnecessarily hard for some people, especially on dark maps. I am lucky to not be affected by this too much, but I do believe it's the main reason why Nightfall feels so inconsistent, and why some people have much more trouble seeing than they are intended to.

Nightfall is supposed to limit your visibility range, so that survivors can't see to far, but still enough to be able to navigate without getting stuck on objects. However, some people, especially those with sight issues, seem to be able to see almost nothing, if anything just a few meters away from them. And that should 100% not be a thing, it's ridiculously unfair for them, and a killer should never ever get a down because a survivor player can't see 5 meters ahead of them.

I might be wrong, but I do believe the vignette effect is the big problem here. And it seems so unnecessary, as it does not have anything to do with the actual intended effect of only being able to see a certain distance. I do not even care if they decrease the visibility range during Nightfall from 18 to 16 or 14 meters, but the devs absolutely need to make it consistent for every player, on every map.

He just need some of his addons to be basekit, the one to teleport quick and the one who tells which lockers are locked, also for thw teleport to be directed to the surv hag or the direction addon

on my personal experience , fun killer but with the potential to make matches miserable because of the insane darkness on some maps with Nightfall , i know "VIDEO FILTERS" exist but jeeez am already sick of having to turn up my brightness to 200%😅 just to see a bit decent on some maps.

The only thing I don't enjoy is when, SOMEHOW, an entire fourth of Lery's doesn't have a single locker in it.

The giant shower room has like, eight, but you can't even make one for an entire quarter of the map?

Dredge M1 attack is one of the most satisfying.

Dredge is incredibly fun to play and against. His anti-loop is also one that doesn't feel like it just gives to free hits, but has some really cool mindgame elements to it. Love it all.

I'd enjoy it way more if its Locker Teleport was more consistent and if its 1v1 existed

lmao... he's just slightly better than sadako, nothing more... his antiloop is pathetic since the counter is simple and effective at the same time: w+shift. teleport wouldn't be so bad if:

1 wasn't so slow to do it (if it was quickly as when in nightfall i wouldn't had complains)

2 lockers can be blocked (and in the case of 2 lockers that are close to each other, if one of those is locked, the teleport will gave priority to the locked one)

the only thing that i consider funny and potentially good is nightfall (i said potentially cause if i'm not mistaken people can see even when nightfall is active. They can do this through nvidia filters)

You can predict someone will W+shift out of a loop and zone then out in a direction with no pallets. I've gotten many easy hits like that.

Even while being slow, the teleport is a better form of map travel then what most killers have. Also, the ideal is for you to teleport out of their sight so they DON'T predict where you're going to be an run in the opposite direction. It's a power that requires mindgames, but when well used is pretty good.

Blocking a pair of lockers with 1 lock is needed so the resources against him don't run out too fast. To see how it would be otherwise, sometimes survivors make the mistake of locking both of them. You come out of the locker and, since they're out of range this time, you just break the other lock. Now you have an easy way of getting to that gen and they cannot lock it to slow you down anymore.

Reminds me of the Engineers Fang from the earlier Hellraiser movies.

Honestly when he first came out, he was a pain in the butt to win matches against until I figured out that going around the map when u know he's the killer and locking every locker as a survivor makes him alot easier to defeat. Mainly cause with every locker on the map locked, if he makes the map go dark and u are near a locker. Even if he teleports to that locker ur near. He has to break the lock from the inside to get u and by the time he's done that. U are usually far enough away from that locker to were u can lose track of him pretty easy.

Dredge is pretty solid, I put him at 4 out of 5 stars. He's got great map mobility, which alone makes him decent, plus he has a bit of anti-loop and has constant Undetectability for long chunks of time. The main thing keeping him from being 5 out of 5 is mid-chase he's mainly a basic attack killer (his anti-loop can help a bit as can his teleport but it's not a game changer) and the top killers all have something that can help secure hits quickly.

I think there are a couple of reasons he gets placed a bit above Billy. For one, on a lot of maps, Dredge's teleport is a better way to get around than Billy's chainsaw. It's a beeline travel straight to the area you want and is almost totally undetectable while he's doing it compared to Billy who has to try and weave through passages and obstacles with really slow steering and a really loud chainsaw (barring using a silent chainsaw add-on of course). Yeah, sometimes Dredge gets a map where the locker placement has gaps where the generators are, but those are the exception. The other reason is, even though Dredge's anti-loop isn't the best, it's still better than having no anti-loop which is the case with Billy. Yeah, Billy can potentially get instant downs with the chainsaw, but doing that consistently at loops is tricky to say the least so it's hard to classify the chainsaw as being an anti-looping tool.

Personally I'd put Billy at 4 out of 5 stars for people who can really, really play him well (which doesn't include me, I don't play him nearly enough to get the chainsaw hits that consistently). For average players he's probably a 3 out of 5 since you're just not going to get the instant downs all that often but can still get value out of the mobility. Dredge in contrast is I think more consistently good across a wider variety of players - if you're good with basic attack killers and also good at being stealthy when you're Undetectable you'll do pretty well with him.

there's just a little problem... the audio cue that you'll do once you teleport to a locker...
