This odd reaction to BBQ

Okay so I had this Dredge match after which one of the survivors went into this spiel that I'd seen before, aka the real reason people bring BBQ is the aura reading, not the BP. Which is something I've seen on this forum as well.

The rest of the conversation was basically me saying I'd still run it on Artist and Blight and that's pretty much it, versus some scepticism that I don't really understand. Is BBQ's aura reading bad on a high-mobility killer like Dredge? No, not at all. But I'd probably prefer something that fits the individual killer, maybe darkness revealed in Dredge's case. And is there any actual benefit to bringing it on a killer like Hag or something?

I just keep seeing this insistence that bringing BBQ for BP is some collective lie that killers tell for whatever purpose and I don't particularly get...what the point of that would be.

The aura reading is definitely a good aspect but it’s been outclassed at this point imo especially by floods of rage if you are running multiple scourge hooks

I think there's a case to be made for running it on Pig to keep tabs on someone wearing a Reverse Bear Trap.

I might go for full scourge builds now we have 4 honestly

Ok... why would you run B&C on dredge for other reason than bloodpoints, when he starts with a better alternative...

The effect on Floods is stronger, but it is restricted to exactly four hooks on the map (unless you use Monstrous Shrine). BBQ at least works on any hook.

Too many people counter BBQ because they are so used to it, that is why the aura reading is bad. If the counterplay wasn't there, It'd be pretty good.

I recently opened a topic about that. I think BBQ will have less counterplay now simply because survivors won't bother cause they think nobody will use it anymore.

Maybe in a year but people have that instinct ingrained in them to hide from BBQ. I don't think I would use it, maybe on Billly but idk.

I've softened on my thinking that I'd never run BBQ again. While losing the BP sucks, this might inadvertently buff BBQ as players start to not assume BBQ is in play.

As others stated, habit is hard to break so people who hide from it might still for a while but eventually people will let their guard down to it.

Also I find it funny that they're complaining about BBQ. It's so easy to take out of play and even if you do get "spotted" by it, you have plenty of time and warning to run away. Just a strange one to whine about.

Holly loves BBQ and Chilli cause it let's her find her next victim very easily. It's almost too easy for her!

Just because she is a nice kitty but doesn't want to derail a thread with her viciousness, here's a pic I just posted in Off Topic

I feel survivors (me included) will miss the good ol' BBQ days after the midchapter patch. With BBQ, you new perfectly well when and where to counter it, be it lockers, hiding behing gens, faking to go in one direction or my personal favorite, fake to hide into a locker (so hilarious to watch a killer run straight to an empty locker to check xD).

The new, better aura reading alternative are so much harder to expect and counter. Without swf or kindred, it's hard to know when Floods of Rage might proc, since your team mates will trigger it. With Darkness revealed, you can totally miss it's activations, so not even expecting that you were seen. I guess I should run distortion more often after the patch ^^.

The new Lethal persuer buffing any other aura duration is the icing on the cake.

Well, I guess we will find out in the next update. I, for one, will never run the perk again. I am sure most others will because that junk aura reading that is easily countered is definitely not what got me going. It was the 100% bloodpoints...
