Survivors Perks Battling Each Other

Just wanted perspective from some survivors. How do you guys feel about the route BHVR is going down, with two equally interesting/strong build types that are counter-productive to each other?

Boon Totems vs Cleanse Totems

I mean, currently it seems Boon totems has an edge and respectively survivors are leaning away from cleansing totem perks, even if they are SoloQ, on the off chance one of the others can Boon. Boons being a renewable resource means it should probably be priority, but how long will this last?

The last Chapter had Overzealous, so they are obviously not ditching this type of perk. I mean, right now, with one totem, you could do gens 4% faster, heal yourself by entering a locker, and get an aura reading ability. That’s pretty good, but the more survivors running these perks the quicker the resource drys up and the more likely you are to screw somebody out of a Boon play.

———

So which do you prefer? Do you think this has room for both strategies? Any thoughts on why BHVR might start a survivor battle over totems?

———

Personally, I like cleanse totem perks but I’ve upset teammates by destroying a totem instead of letting others boon it, to the point that they DC as soon as the totem pops. I just don’t get why BHVR opted to create so many diverse perks that just drive a strong division between survivor builds. I’m a Killer main so I’m not been super vocal about the boon meta but I’ve always did my bones and felt great about it, but now when I bring in my totem destroying builds, I get grief from my own team. Being a survivor is so confusing, so much easier to just try and kill anything that moves lol.

Wouldnt mind since survs have an option to coordinate via pre game chat. However language barriers and stuff are still a thing so it would be nicer if we could see each others loadouts and coordinate from there.

Boons are definitely better, by a landslide, but that will not stop me from playing how I want to play. Not like I run into that many amazing teammates to begin with. I am never too worried about it.

whatever suits me that match. At least now I can have a backup loadout ready so if I join with people that'd suggest we'd be at odds I can change. I usually don't bother either way and just do the bones I see.

I was excited about boons until i ran 3 boon perks with a red map and the other survivors cleansed all of the totems, aside from the first one i blessed. Then i stopped using boons.

That’s the kind of scenario I ran into, I’m just saying it was an odd decision. I mean, for Killer, perks will highly favor one Killer over another, or you can just easily avoid running two perks that negate each other but survivors are lacking the ability to not screw each other. If BHVR doesn’t feel it’s good to let survivors share build at the campfire, then why keep making perks to actively put random survivors at odds with what to do with the totems.

Inner Healing needs a buff tbh, with CoH doing the same job, an unlimited number of times, for ALL survivors, getting one single heal out of a totem is a waste. (of course you could say CoH needs a nerf and I wouldn't disagree, but apparently were stuck with it)

Perhaps something like; After cleansing a totem Inner Healing activates, you heal others 25% faster and others heal you 25% faster for the duration of the effect. If injured, when you enter a locker you recover a health state after 7/6/5 seconds and the effect ends.

I prefer cleansing totems than bringing boons just because I know how annoying CoH can be for a killer.

It's also not my playstyle to set up a boon and self-heal everytime I get injured. I rather get injured take a chase and lose the chase and remain injured to work on gens than running to some area of the map to heal myself and then run back to the gen I was working on or the gen that needs pressure.

Usually when I cleanse totems, I only cleanse the totems that would make a bad boon spot. If anything, I intentionally get rid of the obvious totems spawns so my teammates don't waste their time setting up a boon there for it to get snuffed easily. The good boon spots I leave alone because I know that it can come in clutch later on and the killer won't have time to snuff it.

    Rise of the Boon.

I think with the update, people will be using CoH more and less likely to be looking to destroy all totems before end game with the change in being able to locate NOED fairly quickly now.

Saying that though, cleanse totem challenges are still in many tomes, so if someone has it they won't give a f... and cleanse what they can, can't blame them, I would too.
