Steam Deck Finally on the way! Wait...no support for DBD? WHAT?!?
After reserving a Steam Deck back in 2021 I got notified it's ready to finish processing and it will be on the way shorty. Exciting stuff! I was shocked that I won't be able to play DBD on it. That was a huge disappointment. I really wanted to play it on the deck.
Any word on BHVR plans to support the Stream Deck?

To quote from a QnA way back when:tm:
"BHVR has plans to implement support for the Steam Deck at a later date, however this will not be ready for launch and we have no timeframe for this to announce at this time."
Basically, Steam Deck uses Linux, which BHVR's version of Easy Anti-Cheat doesn't support. An updated version of EAC to support Linux was released but I don't know if BHVR have updated to a version which allows support, nor do I know of any other technical difficulties (which there most certainly are) which prevent an immediate port.

Ah....So they actually have to get an Anti-cheat? (or am I understanding wrong?)

No, they already have one (Easy Anti-Cheat, EAC: https://www.easy.ac/en-us/; It's used in quite a few games and was made by Epic Games). EAC never used to support Linux, however after Steam Deck was announced then versions which do support Linux began to be released. If EAC is what is currently holding them back from the port I don't know, but I know that EAC was what was holding them back. I don't have Linux on my PC (used to have Ubuntu on my old one but that was from 2014) so I can't check it myself tragically.

Yeah, it's all about the anti-cheat I guess.

Oh god I can imagine solo play with the Steam deck teammate that can't survive a chase more than 15 seconds.

What? It's a powerful PC in a hand held with a controller layout and USBs that you could plug a keyboard into if you wanted to, lol.

That clears things up.
In which case, yes it's an EAC issue of it not being one of the versions which supports Linux which the Steam Decks runs on. BHVR have confirmed it's a future plan to add support but outside of the word "future" we have no clear date as to when this will be. Sorry, man.

You could say the same thing about Switch players.

God forbit the bugs you may encounter there.

It's on epic and EAC. They've got two versions of it and it's a nightmare to switch over. I used to know more about the specific problem around Deck launch but the takeaway from what I gathered was that this is on Epic more than bhvr. Wish this came up more often so I'd have had reason to not forget.
Oh yeah.
CONGRATS DUDE!!!!
