Why are so many killers camping hooks?
I get that gen speeds and base kit BT being a joke makes it easier to tunnel but man how can you complain about not having enough map pressure when you’re sitting near hook like you’re a patrol officer?

Because its even more effective now, an extra 10 seconds on gens, add on a stack of thanatophobia and deadlock and you can camp them for two gens, then repeat for the free 2k.

Because why do work when they added 50 seconds to the survivor objective time but added 0 seconds to the people dying on hook time?

It’s just the proxy camping too. What’s the point in leaving the hook if you’re gonna come back 5 seconds later every time :(

Because killers should be able to play the game however they want as long as it’s within the rules.

Yea they can but then those same killers usually complain about SWF. Also within the rules but not fun lol. You can play how you want but it looks hypocritical when that same person complains about someone else’s play styles.

Look, I have given the game a few days to evaluate the patch. Not a single thing has changed.
Killers camp and tunnel with no penalty.
They easily eat the BT base kit change.
Getting more than 3 gens done is lucky.
Killer gets a 4k.
This has been in every. Single. Game. Without fail.
Honestly, unless you have a SWF, what is the point of playing survivor now?
I have never seen queue times this long for survivors in the 6 years u have been playing. Even longer than any killer queue time I have had to go through. There's a reason for this, but Behavior doesn't care. They only want money.

Yea ig but pre-patch I could at least carry my team with doing 3-4 gens by myself. Now with the new patch everything is so much more punishing. That doesn’t even add on to the fact that Tomes pretty much make survivors throw the game if you want to finish it quickly. Sucks being un hook knowing there is literally nothing you can do unless you run a very specific build.

It’s been awful. Me and my friends are Taking a break this patch as see if it will change. If not I guess after 3 years it’s goodbye and onto a diff game. :(

Because devs have made camping viable now. You can probably average a 2K per game just by sitting by a hook.

Do they also still have the MMR calculator where 1 kill equal a win for the killer and the system thinks it was a “skilled” play lol? So can you go up in MMR by literally just face camping and guaranteeing 2 kills?

With all my killer expirience, I never played like that. Tho I could camp someone if there is an end game. Camping someone by first hook or at the start of a match is a lamest and most boring way to play such game, and I do think it should be punished. How exactly? Thats a question.
Gen rush is a well known tactic against campers. And I believe, it's still working, if survivors bring perks to increase speed of gens.
I don't agree about tunneling tho. There is NO WAY tunneling now is easier than before. Telling that from a killer sight, no way, it's easier to tunnel someone now.

The update was supposed to help with camping but actually made it worst, gens take longer to get fixed so camping was actually improved, I don't know what the devs are things, the base BT is a complete joke and now campers have it easier

It does not lol. You can guarantee 2 kills if you combine it with slow down. And there is 0 counterplay for the person on hook. It’s just frustrating knowing nothing you can get you out.

I genuinely do not see the appeal of camping. Obviously there are situations where you're playing like usual but then have to camp because survivors are nearby, a 3 gen is nearby, or it is the end game. But how do people get on and decide they wanna put a player on a hook and have a staring contest with them? Just seems like a waste of time to me. You literally gain more bp and pip score from chasing and interrupting survivor objectives with a 0k compared to camping and getting a 1-2k.

No one cares about pips. As for BP the per match BP might be pretty low but camp matches are also pretty fast since you're not stopping gen progress so if you get a 2 or 3k with 12000 points in 8 minutes, its the same BP as getting 18,000 points with a 0k 12 minute game.

Exactly, I've been noticing that 5-second BT built-in doesn't even last that long. I got bored today and played killer and laughed how even easy it was. Even streamers like hexy who is a killer main is saying this is strong. Also, watched a few other killer mains which I just wanted to see there take on it and they said it was easy. I understand SWF but please BHVR help us solo out this is F awful.

Campers work the same way the afk pig does. You have to sacrifice 1 guy, for 3 to get out. And yes, it's frustrating, but what can you do? What Developers can do? Solutions on camping?
I can only see some goofy solutions to camping which I'm not gonna like for sure.
Guarantee 2 kills - 0 chances with killer afking by the hooked person. I played a lot of killer matches from patch, let me say, gen rush is really a thing, and what killer slowdowns are you talking about if the killer just standing and not moving from a hook? 1 stack of thana? 1 gen being blocked? Idk...

Oh I fully agree. This is 100% a solo q issue.
I used to have friends who played this game, but they were all driven away by the toxicity, the punishing MMR (because they weren't regular players, playing with me meant that they got killers well out of their league, making it impossible for them to do anything), and the rise of repeated camping and tunneling.
As always, because of streamers and revenue, the developers had a choice: do we support the majority of our playerbase (solo q or small swf like 2 people), or do we appease a small minority who generate revenue for us. They chose the latter.
Look, I understand how business works. I understand that they have to make money. But every gaming company, lately, seems to have fallen for the same trap: appease the "whales," game dies. Look at a game like FFXIV. While it does have content for the hardcore elite and the streamers, they made it easy, balanced, and enjoyable for a large playerbase. Consequently, they have only continued to increase both the number of players and their revenue.
You will never be able to please everybody. But Behavior should take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask themselves what kind of game they truly want.

You're telling me that all of these buffs didn't make killers camp and tunnel less? Who would've guessed?! Guess they'll come up with more excuses now that they don't have the "gens get done too fast" one. 🤷♂️

From my experience, it's pretty easy to gain well over 20k bp in a ten minute match as killer, even more with offerings. Campers generally get way less in the same amount of time.

I fully agree with this.
SWF has always been a problem with killer. But look. I am no expert by any means. However, I have been playing for about 6 years. Of that time, about 60% has been survivor, 40% killer.
Here's the thing about SWF. If your game is terrible--move on!
Survivors have had to put up with this for years (the infamous camping Bubba). You get a bad game, you move on. In my experience, the toxic SWF groups that just made the game miserable were few and far between. Was the game survivor sided for a long time? Yes. Did the meta need a shakeup? Also yes. Did it need a balance back towards killer power? Finally, yes.
But they swung the bat so far to the other side that they have made the majority of games miserable for solo q survivors. Instead of running into a random toxic SWF as killer, or a random camping Bubba as survivor, I now look forward to just having a decent game. Not even escaping--I have given up all hope for that to be even 10% of my games. No, I just want a game where we can have some good chases (many have been nerfed into the ground), fun gen pressure, risky saves and heals, etc.
But now, it is camp and tunnel fest on steroids. There is absolutely zero excuse for this. The devs had a long time to figure this out. They have a PTB (why? what's the point?). They could have rolled out changes incrementally to see how it would have impacted the community.
Instead, they wanted to drop a bomb on the game. And they absolutely do not care because we have had radio silence (well, except for anything that gives them money! *money pleaasssseeee*).

BBQ was nerfed to the point where it's not worth using anymore, and pain res lost it's tracking. Why should a killer leave a hooked survivor, if they don't have any idea where the other survivors are? Trying to find hidden survivors is a waste of time.

They are camping because it works because most survivors are altrustic, and don't want to go do gens. Or they have a tracking perk that let them know someone is nearby and its foolish to leave the hook. Or its end game and it would be foolish to leave hook. Lots of reasons, and all of it counterable.

Cause they put more time on Gens and not increasing the base Gen regression
Just because they put more time onto Gens doesn't mean they solved the issue
They also nerfed: Ruin, Corrupt (a little bit), made Call Of Brine do more then necessary... Need I go on
Plus they said how to increase MMR (by getting Kills/ Escaping and nothing else matters)
