Here's some games similar to DBD that aren't DBD
If you're craving gameplay similar to Dead By Daylight but want to try something else, here's a list of things to check out:
Identity V - This is the most similar to DBD, and I think BHVR assisted partially with development as well. There's the equivalent of generators that needs to be completed to open exit gates, and there's looping with pallets. 4 survivors VS 1 hunter, or 8 survivors VS 2 hunters. There's just a single skill tree to complete that looks the same for everyone, but has a few different branches to choose from to change your build up. Characters on both sides have unique abilities on top of this skill tree, so even survivors get unique abilities to play with.
Home Sweet Home Survive - 4 survivors VS 1 killer in an asian setting. In this game, survivors need to complete rituals to spawn exit portals. A unique aspect to this game is that survivors can fight back against the killer with various items and weapons. Early in the match, it's a futile effort to fight back as the killer barely takes any damage from it. But by completing rituals, the killer's defenses are gradually weakened, and it is possible (but difficult) for survivors to win the match by killing the killer.
Propnight - A mix between Dead by Daylight and Gmod Prop hunt. 4 survivors VS the killer, the survivors complete generators while the killer hunts them down. The twist is that you can turn into "props" (aka physics objects) to hide, and move around while in prop form. Unfortunately this game has bad reviews on Steam, most of them complaining that the latest update ruined the game by turning it into a "worse dead by daylight". So try this at your own risk, and remember that you can refund games on steam with less than 2 hours of playtime.
Video Horror Society (VHS) - I don't know much about this game, since I haven't played it yet. It's free to play and currently in Early Access.

Out of all of these, I think I had the most fun in Identity V. It felt like a game I could keep playing for a long time. 2nd place for me goes to Home Sweet Home, it was fun but difficult, seems to not have a large player base and the people who do play it are really good at it. Propnight wasn't my cup of tea, but who knows, it might be yours

I wish dbd added 2 killers vs 8 survivors mode too.

What about 2 killers + 3 survivors 😎

There was also White Noise 2, but... does that game still exist? It was already dead a few years back.

Don't forget Evil Dead The Game, it's also an 4v1 asymmetrical horror game. I tried it and didn't really get into it personally, but I can't fault it for its theme and production quality. 🤷♂️ Both it and VHS feel more like a Left 4 Dead type game than a pseudo stealthy slasher horror game. Which is great if you're looking for that type of action game, I kind of like DbD's "hide and seek or tag with meat hooks" set up better though. (Plus the licensed killers are a nice bonus in terms of aesthetics.)

VHS has horrible accessibility, so I noped out on that really quickly. Evil Dead is on my list but seems to have issues. I'm waiting for the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre game as well.
