opinion on botany change?

Old/Current Botany: 33% Faster Healing and Medkit Efficiency

New/PTB Botany: 50% Faster Healing

(correct me if i got the stats wrong)

It's a nerf imo. there's a reason why the abdominal dressing is seen as a counterproductive medkit addon in nearly all cases. Speed is cool but Charges are better than speed.

    I'm neutral about it. Won't affect my autodidact build, and makes it easier as a thoughtless perk to throw on any build for free value, but it does lessen the options we had for healing builds. You only consider perks that are the best at what they do, and while new Botany's good, there's nothing that really does what old Botany did anymore. Built To Last, perhaps, but that has other drawbacks.

    I’m somewhat indifferent. The thing that’s sad about it though is that it kind of inadvertently nerfs the Gauze Roll add-on. Because with Botany alone, it would turn that add-on into another full heal.

    I think medkits are still one of the game's biggest balance problems that still need to be addressed, as they save too much time healing. So I can't say I am unhappy about the efficiency removed, but at the same time, the healing speed increase isn't really much better.

    It's lame. I'd rather the efficiency over speed.


    Just another nerf that they tried to gift wrap as a "buff" like a sketchy real estate agent selling you a shite house and telling you " But it has character!".

    Botany was always part of my build as a counter to sloppy butcher. I combine it with Leader so others heal me faster as well. This change buffs my build.

    I don't like it. The efficiency was nice and while I do think medkits are overpowered, that's a problem with medkits themselves and not with botany's item efficiency. 33% healing on the other hand was good but not unfair. 50% is too much for one perk and makes it better than almost every other healing perk besides coh and wmi after unhooking. Overall I think it's a buff, and one that it didn't need.

    It was a bit too easy to get a ton of heals out of a single medkit.

    It should be more encouraged to seek other survivors for healing. It's a bit weird the team part of this numbers vs power game is so self reliant.

    I would have prefered if all medkits had current selfcare speed and selfcare made it the normal 16 seconds

    No it won't. They destroyed SC so badly even Botany can't make it decent.

    As for the topic, I hate the change. It took away the utility that made Botany good.

    I’m genuinely asking, do you know how the math works out? Because Self-Care is being nerfed 15%, but Botany is being buffed 17%. So will the combo be just a smidge faster than it currently is?

    Currently SC heals at 50%. If combined with BK it heals at 66.5% as the 33% is multiplicative not additive. With new SC healing at 35% the combined speed with BK is 52.5%.

    Shame. So you have to run both together just to get old Self-Care speed.. and without any medkit bonuses.

    That's a real shame, I loved running BK+SC but if it's gonna be that slow I'll have to switch to other things. I don't run exhaustion perks but I might since normally I liked healing at decent speed to get my health state back instead of using a perk for a third but they seem to want to punish that, especially with the new bloodwebs being less likely to give decent medkits to boot.

    Wait botony no longer helps with medkits? RIP me when. Was my go to build yellow medkit + botony. Two easy heals.

    Unnecessary and if people are so concerned about healing speeds there's literally a perk that eats up all that progress if u interrupt them. Within seconds straight to zero. Plus all the add ons that have similar effects.

    Why not just remove survivor perks? That would guarantee a higher kill rate.

    It's multiplicative when you are calculating how much the increase is. For example new SC and BK. New SC is 35% so we need to calculate 50% of 35% to find the effective speed increase. 50% of 35% is 17.5%. Now add 17.5% to 35% and we get 52.5%.

    CoH and BK speed increases are found separately and then added together for the total increase. We gain an increase of 50% from CoH. This is 50% of the SC speed of 50%. Meaning an effective increase of 25%. BK gives a 33% increase of 50%. Giving us 16.5%. Adding them all together CoH plus BK equals 91.5% currently.

    Usually Medkit gives you 2 heals. +33% for both heal save you 11sec for that Medkit. While it saves 5sec per basic healing.

    Old: Botany makes healing speed up to 133%, Selfcare split if in half, 67%.

    New: Botany makes healing speed up to 150%, Selfcare divided 3 times, 50%. Unless they make Selfcare -66%, rather than dividing.


    Beside, this is my build:

    Full healing on teammate, with a Medkit for myself, and now I cant heal myself with Brown Medkit.

    you can use streetwise so you get 50% faster healing speeds with medkit for "free", imo its very good and i enjoy using it

    I hate the change. It's better for SWF but I'm a solo player and I hate that you need either a teammate or a high charged medkit to make it work for you and with the latter it just eats the kit away faster. It sucks that two of Claudette's three perks gets nerfed into the ground.

    I'd rather have current botany than have someone have 5-6 10 second self heals in a single medkit.
