Why Gens feel faster than before update?
In every game I played today (first time after update) the gens were rushed like hell. Usually I got one kill (/~6hooks) or near one kill with 2 gens left but now I have often only 3 hooks. I never camp or tunnel if I dont have to, but now it feels like this. Everyone runs now Prove Thyself. To counter this I run 2 regression perks, but it feels like its doing nothing.
Second thing is the survivors feel faster because It takes more time to catch up. If a player runs Hope, I cant catch him in a straight line. I dont get Bloodlust faster and the game likes to end the chase for no reason.
Is it only me or has somebody else the same feeling?
(I dont want a killer buff or smth else, just curious)

Because people are getting used to the update.

Survivors are adapting and learning how to deal with the increased gen speeds. This includes using gen speed perks, toolboxes, and generally playing cautiously so that they can more effectively counter regression.
It might feel like gens are getting done faster than before the patch, but that's just survivors using tactics that when used before the patch would result in 'genrushing', or even faster gens.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I told you guys, here we go. Still not enough nerfs and buffs, lets tune it up even more for the Killers

As killer, you want survivors to group. Prove thyself does not make gens go faster but encourages people to group. You do gens fastest working on separate gens so I don't get the prove thyself targeting.
As for OP, it could just be matchmaking. Maybe you are getting more efficient players. Idk what you are running, nor do I know how you play, so that is all I can assume.

also just here a recent example @Exxodus21

Prove Thyself is mathematically a loss for the survivors, but it becomes advantageous when you complete individual gens quickly. It limits the opportunities for killers to regress them.
For example. Killer with Eruption kicks a gen, you repair it with another survivor before he downs some other survivor, and you've just completed a gen in 45s and saved 25s of Incapacitated on two survivors.
Or you have three survivors working on three gens, and the killer repeated chases you off each one and kicks it with Call of Brine, because it takes him less than 90s to reach each one. But if you repair one in 45s, the killer now needs to make it to each gen in less than 45s instead of less than 90s. he doesn't get that kick in, doesn't get 30+ seconds of 200% regression, you save yourself a ton of time.
2 -
Gen repair perks, toolboxes with Built To Last, more survivors focusing on gens since it's harder to bully the Killer without Dead Hard.
2 -
With the way generators are, it's better to have 2 people on a gen with Prove Thyself granting a 15% bonus. If the killer comes, one person hides and then finishes the gen after the killer leaves. If the killer camps the gen, they leave and start another gen.
Sure, technically it's faster to have everyone split up, but since killers have short attack cooldowns, survivors have a shorter hit boost, they can instantly regress 2% off of a gen. It's better overall to have 2 teams of 2 on gens that way despite the inefficiency, the gens get done. Sure, 1 person per gen is more effective, but if the killer scares them off, kicks a gen at 80% then chases them and nobody stops the regression that's a lot of progress wasted.
1 -
As you said, more people are running Prove Thyself (which will help them power right through those extra 10 seconds). Also, gen regression/slowdown is and has always been a joke against coordinated survivors (kicking gens still sucks because of the time investment required to walk to gens). If 3 survivors focus on the gens while the other one is chased, you will lose gens and have to rely on late game mistakes to catch up. Now also add in to the mix that 3/4 survivors will be running Sprint Burst or Lithe, your chase time will be just as long as it was before the patch.

Devs, boost the gen repair to 120 secs.
So from 4k at 4 gens, to 4k at 0 gens done.
3 -
lol watch them beg for more buffs next.
and the survivors are the crybabies...
7 -
Absolutely, if the killer is running multiple slowdowns. I usually avoid all slowdown, that's why I am of this opinion.
0 -
That's assuming the killer takes the time to kick the gen rather than going for the down. But yeah, I see your point.
0 -
I have been running more gen rush builds in this update and my friends have been too the slowdown i feel def needed to happen but it wasmt enough to combat a team thats focused on getting gens completed. I actually do feel as though corrupt needs to be active on all gens or something
0 -
but let's think about the game itself, are you and your friends really ok with going in a match and sitting gens until you power all of them and then leaving? I mean, the game has other mechanics too like doing totems, opening chests, glyphs and etc. Are you ok with just doing gens?
0 -
I haven't found that I'm just doing gens. Running a gen speed build means gens don't take so long to complete, which means you're not just sitting on gens the whole game.
0 -
If you cannot kill in this update. Boy do I have some sobering news to share with you.
13 -
I've been running more gen focused perks to get through it faster. Tbh you might as well be losing out on bp by not running prove thyself and it comes in clutch late game with fewer gens left.
1 -
but it doesn't make any sense, if you're doing other stuff, your gen rushing build means nothing.
gen rushing build only works when you're doing gens
1 -
No... genrushing build means you get gens done faster, which gives you more time to do other things.
Maybe if you were using a genrushing build just to genrush and escape ASAP, but when you need to rescue other survivors, or juke the killer, or evade the killer, or heal other survivors up... you still have to do all of that anyway, and then when you're in a good spot you 'rush' the gens, only now that 'rushing' is closer to the old 'normal' gen speed.
It just requires playing more cautiously in general. You don't rush the killer to take a load of body blocks, because your DH is not as reliable, and your DS doesn't save you as much time. So you don't use those. You carefully pick your moment to go for the unhook, instead of just barging right up to the killer.

I am pretty happy with this development. See? It's not l doom and gloom, survivors are adapting and doing well, a new meta is forming and, while not completely gone, feisty BMing midgame has died down considerably. Heck, I even spotted survivors who would "just leave" on their own without the need to be taken by the hand and lead out the door. Amazing!
And without the stranglehold of DH on the game, chasea feel so much more fun and meaningful. Yeah, the occasional Lithe or SprintBurst user will just disappear, but that's usually at the start of the chase and costs you like 15s, not a whole minute and a broken heart.
Good job, survivors! And I mean it!
And the gloating peeps here who say that killers will cry for more survivor nerfs... Ugh. Please stop tugging my cringe strings so hard. It hurts. Just try to be constructive for once.
7 -
ooh 100%, I already saw some people complaining about SB being really annoying. Watch when everyone is using sprint burst how Killers regret nuking dead hard and we see hundreds of posts how sprint burst a crutch perk, easy escape when Killer comes etc and it needs to be nerfed
3 -
It will never be enough for them.
Edit- They might be satisfied when all survivors start the trial on hooks. :)
3 -
Op is speaking about his experience and how he felt about his gameplay, and yet there are people still doing that imaginary war of Surv VS Killer.
I swear this forum should be age restricted.
9 -
I hope the irony isn't lost on them.
Killer: "I'm not asking for buffs but, funny thing...."
All the survivors: "oh boo hoo killer crying again baby killer asking for buffs, killers just want survivors to start on hooks" *DC's out of spite*
4 -
whats the reason of him telling that experience? exactly, trying to show that gen speed is still to fast. Otherwise he would be on youtube and watching guides on how to improve and train ingame already. But hey its been always easier to come here and complain
4 -
Why are you creating this negative narrative ? He's simply asking if people have felt the same or not. A simple return of experience, opening a discussion, with other players of the dbd community.
6 -
My thoughts exactly. Sometimes I read comments and I think "don't you see how childish you sound?" and then I realize it may be for good reason. 😅
Thankfully it's not the case of every young poster. (Since I know the age of a few users and one of the youngest has often a pretty nice way to present things and some enjoyable repartee.)
6 -
Will you surprise on that? Some killers already started complain about new survivor meta perks. Prove Thyself, Lithe and SB. I am already seeing some people started to talk about these perks.
1 -
Yeah, well, what you gonna do about those people? They will never shut up. Something will always be meta and mathematically or qol-wise superior to other options. You can't constantly shoot down everything and neither should you.
Thought I could see BHVR be doing what some of the bigger mmo arena fighters like Dota or LoL are doing, ie regularly nerfing the strongest optionscand boosting the weakest/least picked, just to keep things moving. Yeah, this means that occasionally your favorite tactic would end up getting nerfed, but I like a system like that, because it keeps things at least somewhat fresh and the player base experimenting in order to keep up with the new situations.

"But hey its been always easier to come here and complain"
😂 that's basically all you do judging by your post history!
2 -
...where?
0 -
I am not recording post links but i saw some.
0 -
You totally wrong. I have played this game since 2016 and NEVER complained. This account is new, its the first time I complain. You better do your research on people better next time before making those false claims. But honestly cant expect more from someone who is using this cringe emoji
0 -
😂 bless you, I can tell by your comments you're a teen.
3 -
No absolutely not like they say Variety is the spice of life. I definately prefer to do a bunch of different things and I know that my looping skills still need work so I like being chased
1 -
I've seen several already say they want nerfs on prove thy self. Haven't seen the lithe/SB complaints yet, mostly seen killers still focused on DH, but I'm not surprised there's been complaints on the exhaustion perks survivors started using.
0 -
Well, they've been banished to 'The Land of Unhappy People that Can't Communicate in a Mature Fashion."
What a loss T_T
2 -
Yes this. Im playing often only M1 Killers, sometimes Anti Loop Killers like PH.
And yes I was only matched up with people with a range of 1,5-5k hours playtime. The new killer meta seems to be kicking gens perks, but it doesnt work so good. I ran to the gen, chase one of (they ran away as soon as they hear my terror radius), the second finish the gen in the time I can down one. Repeat.
And the game often ends with under 20k points for each escaped survivor, because they just do this strategy, which is so boring.
Okay, the Bloodlust issue is only on me. Then I have to take a look myself on it.
The survivors loop then only more efficiently I guess... have to deal with it.
0 -
So survivors adepted new meta and they are playing around? Was not that what killers keep said: Adept bro, learn to play without crutches bro.
So survivors are knows now, the best way to escape: Genrush and get heal with Adrenaline. Now this is issue too?
You are seriously still complaining after all of these buffs?
0 -
This. This is what nobody's talking about. Let's bring back the discussion, which we were more than comfortable in having pre-patch, that survivors don't even have to deal with how strong the killer is as long as they do gens fast. Increased gen times and killer qol changes that make them do stuff quicker is fine, because the gens still fly when the survivors are efficient.
0 -
You're right. It's still not enough. Play Pig. Play Ghost Face. Play Freddy.
2 -
I never asked for "Buffs". I dont need to 3/4k.
I ask u as a survivor main, how is this fun for u to play like this?
Doing gens, have maybe one chase and escape. Every game, again and again. You start a game and you know allready this strat will work 90%. Maybe you bring a toolbox and a map offering to increase that chance. How is this fun?
0 -
Because slowdowns are order of magnitude weaker than before.
0 -
This is pre patch thinking where the killer could get scourge hook value for 15% and then use Pop to get another 25% off the same generator instantly.
The new meta is to have 1-2 people per game with Prove Thyself. You work in pairs or trios and slam the gens. If the killer chases one person off the other keeps working the generator. The problem with the best gen regression perks right now is that they are damage over time effects (CoB+Overcharge).
0 -
Exactly. And with this strat ur regression is near nothing now. Maybe u get someone with Eruption, thats all.
The heaviest experience was on plague. I run Thana, Dying light, deadmanswitch and Overcharge (before Patch it was Painres). I keep the 4 stacks Thana up 80% of the game and still get the same result now.
In those games last night the gens popped like I had no perks. Thats why I asked here.
0 -
I'm not bringing PT or toolboxes, but I am being more efficient with gens. I bring kindred and am using it to take note of which gens are being worked on. No point in starting a new gen when others already have progress, especially with all the regression perks. I make sure to prioritise those gens, especially when the killer has chased a survivor off them. Rookie Spirit is a handy perk for this too
0 -
thats cause survivors are all bringing prove thyself and staying on gens 247. When theyre injured, they will bring resilience or overzelouas or how ever you spell that perk. dont forget the brand new parts and purple/green toolboxes. Thats why we run Thana :D
0 -
Survivors not doing side missions that force them to do stupid things.
That's the main thing, but also the new meta: do gen, hear Terror radius -> run with Sprint Burst.
That and coordinated SWF teams.
1 -
True, the other day Survivors let one of their guys fully bleed, doing gens and left by the door without crouches. While I was taking care of another guy on hook.
2K the two strong players for sure, they exchanged items during the trial to confuse me on who had the flashlight and went very annoying in loops with pallets and aggressive doing gens.
