Why is Prestige shown in endgame?

I know this is probably the most useless thing to discuss from this past update, but it's annoying me a fair bit.

I understand why showing people's ranks was removed in the endgame, and I wasn't playing the game yet anyway at that time.

But why show the characters' prestige level? It just seems like the most useless thing to me. The new grinding system makes it so that everyone will prestige their characters at some point, so it's nothing interesting to learn.

The icons are so bland and bulky too, it's not even esthetically pleasing to have them on the endgame board. I'd much rather have the discreet and just as pointless generic survivor/killer logo there was these past few months.

    I don't dislike prestige icons.

I agree. It should have been left as it was. Showing the icons in the pre-match lobby is even more problematic, in my opinion; it can lead to people being wary of other players for various reasons due to that relatively arbitrary number. Cleaner and simpler is better, in that regard. :)

They'd rather show this than something useful like the loadout of your team members pre-match ha.

Why did they make the character names so prominent though? is it just because you'll see a Feng in-game, and easier to identify that player at post game chat? doesn't make much sense when you end up teaming up with 3 Fengs lol.

imo the only problem is showing them in the pre game lobby because lobby dodging.

    after game it's a whatever.

I’m fine with them being shown in endgame. Showing them in the lobby is a mistake though

I don't like them showing my prestige to others, either. It's a horrible mistake to show it in the pre-game lobby, and I personally don't want them shown on the end-game tally screen, either. There should at least be an option to make prestige levels private.

As to why they did it: They want spark competition over prestige levels amongst the playerbase. There's really no other reason. They upped the prestige level to 100, creating this new massive but voluntary grind, and they show off prestige levels to others to get people invested in pointlessly grinding for an unnecessary higher prestige level. Now, both playing within a match and grinding are competitive sports.

Edit: BTW, showing it in the pre-game lobby could be a way to try to force players who aren't competitive to care about their prestige levels. If you're being judged by your teammates or the killer before the game even starts, you don't want to look like the weak link. I hope that's not the case, though, as making people's experiences unnecessarily worse just because you want them to grind more would be horribly manipulative.
