So, how do you feel about the Calm Spirit nerf?
Calm Spirit reduces Cleansing and Searching speeds by 30%. Cleansing a Totem increases from 14 seconds to 20 seconds.
How do you feel about it?

dead perk

Absolutely annoyed with it
They had the absolute audacity to go through with this "buff"
56 -
It's pretty much useless
8 -
I just don't get why BHVR thinks making those actions silent needed to have a penalty.
30 -
Tbh, I didn't understood this, either.
Both, cleansing and searching are somewhat loud actions, but they are also so fast and happen a bit outside of the killers main action radius, that I MAYBE caught survivors twice because of these sounds?
Making them silently via a perk already would have been pretty niche, but also increasing the times by 30%? That's so bizarre. At the end of the day the time increase isn't that impact full, but its so utterly unneeded and doesn't help this under picked perk in any way to become more attractive.
12 -
Should just be silent, no penalty attached.
30 -
The five people using Calm Spirit at any given time just dropped to two probably.
The literal only time Calm Spirit comes in clutch is if you go against Doctor. There really was no point in touching this perk, it just seems like a nerf. It should have gone the Tenacity route in the buff by making the crows never be alerted at any level and added something like your aura is seen for a second less or something.
And the two penalties just seem like a hassle. Oh no, I search a chest for a little longer...ooooohhhhhhhh...oh no the totem might not get cleansed in time but it doesn't matter because the killer didn't bring Thrill of the Hunt oooooohhhhhhhhh. It's annoying at worst, and I hope (but don't anticipate) they change it back.
4 -
It's a stupid change. Quiet chest searching and cleansing/blessing doesn't make much of a difference, so decreasing the speeds of those interactions was just a bad and unnecessary move.
7 -
Needs to be a secondary action, or penalty removed entirely. Could just be M2 to quietly cleanse/search. M1 to do it like normal.
0 -
I'm sure Doctor mains are super happy about it, everybody else... not so much.
5 -
Terrible change. Completely nonsensical, I don't understand why BHVR did it.
8 -
Not sure why they thought being able to (somewhat) silently cleanse/open a chest was too good and that it had to have a downside?
8 -
Um... it's WHACK.
Why would there be a speed debuff?
Even if they kept the speed the same but removed the grunts, aint no one running that wack azz perk.

Do you remember when BHVR changed stridor so that it no longer countered iron will, and they called it a buff because stridor was also changed so the survivors won't know if the killer has stridor? That is how buffs work in this game. As long as some little piece of the perk gets buffed, we can say the perk got buffed.
5 -
Silly nerf they tried to pass as a buff. People used it simply to stay quieter/stealthier, but they were still able to participate in game objectives. Now they still remain silent but get penalised for participating in game objectives

Never using Calm Spirit again, and it was one of my favourite perks

I’m a survivor main, and while I will say that I completely disagree with the new speed penalty (it’s supposed to be a “perk”), I actually am bothered by the perk completely negating crow alerts and screaming all trial. Just like old Stridor negated old Iron Will. I don’t like when perks from either side hard stops perks from the other side (Spies from the Shadows, Infectious Fright, Iron Maiden, and Deathbound in this case - along with Doctor shocks and Clown gas). But I’m not sure how to find a middle ground between totally stopping crow alerts and screaming or not doing it at all.
Maybe it could have a lengthy cooldown to stopping alerting crows and screams.. like 90 seconds? Just thinking out loud here. And of course remove the unnecessary speed penalty.

Calm Spirit making bone tickling silent is actually a really cool buff, I would consider running that on my totem muncher builds. shame
1 -
Spirit is no more calm.
Spirit is now fury

I blessed a totem in the corn with a sneaking ghost face crawling about. He never noticed me until the blessing popped up since he was in range. He literally went all around me and never noticed. It was humorous.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they added the action speed slowdown to that perk. It seems like they could take that off entirely and it would still not be overpowered.
2 -
Ok so the only difference is it makes extra things silent but slower. Because it always did the scream and crow part?

The action speed penalty needs to be removed or the change needs to be reverted. No one new will be using calm spirit and everyone who did use it doesn't want the speed penalty.

Calm Spirit removes an entire killer tracking method for the entire game. It absolutely deserves to have a downside added to it.
1 -
I can understand it from that angle, but I can't imagine that being the devs intention when it was listed as a "buff" to the perk, when it clearly is a nerf, justified or not. Besides, there are still numerous ways for killers to still track someone with calm spirit (auras, Whispers, scratch marks, breathing, grunts of pain, footsteps, blood). If the effect on tracking was so strong, you'd see it as often as old iron will.

It's never been a live perk. It's been buried in a graveyard somewhere collecting dust, all the developers did was throw a dead racoon in there with it.
6 -
It’s the same logic BHVR used when they changed Stridor so it couldn’t override Iron Will, and then called it a buff because they also made it so survivors can’t tell if the killer is using Stridor.
0 -
It doesnt, calm spirit removed niche things. Oh wait you mean doctor or something?
1 -
I wish they would acknowledge that then, honestly, assuming they make another developer post with an update to how the mid chapter changes are playing out. At least it's more justifiable, even if I don't like the change.

I feel that I'm going to make a fan-art about that perk. With the hands squashing the bird.

Crows are a killer tracking method, and Calm Spirit removes it for the entire game. Perks like that shouldn’t exist without some sort of limitation or downside. It’s the same logic that caused BHVR to nerf the unlimited duration Iron Will, but buff Off The Record because it reduces grunts of pain only for a limited duration.

That still is the cutest lil Spirit I'd ever dun see C3....🥰

I get what you mean but the usefullness of the perk is kinda imcomparable. The value of sound during chase is way more important than not alerting crows, which is strong but debatable whether or not worth a perk slot.
0 -
It didn't need the action speed debuff
4 -
Calm spirit still makes it much easier to try to hide from the killer the entire game. If a survivor is moving away from a generator because the killer is approaching, it’s much easier to find a hiding spot if the survivor doesn’t need to worry about alerting any crows. And being able to walk or run around open maps, without worrying that the killer might spot a moving crow, is huge.

Yes yes agreed its good, still not on the same level as old IW imo. Perks should be allowed to be good. Maybe im just not getting the importance of crows but they are not our only way of tracking. An active gen itself is a pretty damn good indication, a look at bbq is extremely great. If i get a flood when they are trying to be sneaky its just gg.
If we are being honest i would argue distortion is probably a better calm spirits than calm spirits.

I actually ran Calm Spirit from time to time because I just enjoy sneaking away from a killer (and hate crows, Doctor and Infectious Fright). But with these nerfs I will never equip this perk again. There have been a ton of times where I just barely finish cleansing totems before the killer reaches me so having this perk would have gotten me killed.
Plus, going against the occasional killer with Thrill of the Hunt? Lmao no
2 -
Distortion has a limited duration, and it needs to be refilled. It’s not a permanent aura blocking, that works the entire game non stop.
if people really believed that calm spirit was weak, then they wouldn’t care if it got a downside. The fact that people care that it got a downside, proves they also realize that removing crows the entire game is a meaningful effect worth playing.
0 -
It was half a year ago, Im improved now : D
0 -
No. Nobody ran the perk because it was so niche.
People are complaining about the downside because they made a niche perk even more bad when thr purpose was to buff it to be good
4 -
Yeah it has a limited duration that can be charged but all of those charges really matter. I would argue that not getting revealed 3-4 times + having knowledge about which perks the killer has is way more important than, how many times do you usually proc the crows in a match again? 5-6 times or something? And i mean vastly better mate.
0 -
It's not just crows, it's all screaming too. Completely negates Doctor's Static Blast scream (they still get madness), Clown's tonic gas scream (they are still hindered), Iron Maiden, Infectious Fright, and Deathbound.
1 -
Sometimes killers don't even pay attention to crows. I have had multiple instances in which I disturbed a crow while trying to hide the killer still didn't find me.
And if the killer did find me it was because of other things like scratch marks or grunts. Not disturbing crows is not that good of an effect imo
1 -
Yeah i initially just thought of screams and completely forgot about crows.
0 -
People ran the perk before its recent change. And they were very often the survivors that wanted to hide the entire match.
0 -
It doesn’t matter if some killers don’t pay attention to crows. I specifically pay attention to crows, and it feels terrible when someone gets to bypass that entire game mechanic for the entire game, with zero downsides.
1 -
I barely saw anyone running it before the change. I'm sure a few did but It wasn't meta so you didn't see it a lot
1 -
How do you feel about a 90-second cooldown after avoiding a scream or alerting a crow? Or how would you fairly nerf it?
0 -
That's a terrible change
1 -
totally dead , what is the point of running this "stealth" perk that waste a slot for better perks and also gives you a debuff for just silent unnesesary noises, why?
